Marshall

Marshall has a really good chance of beating WVU today with a decent run D and a great QB.

Marshall leads 10-6 on ESPN 2

Whoops!

Somebody at KVUE forgot to flip a switch or something - the Miami/OU game didn't start in HD.

Also, Gino Torretta looks OLD.

Toby Keith

Is there anything more disgusting than hearing Toby Keith introduce the OU starters?

TOBY

I actually just threw up in my mouth

by 2Bearnest on Sep 8, 2007 11:25 AM CDT reply actions

OU 7-0

Bradford looks crisp, the running game is working.

OU looking damn good early.

Barf.

BS TD

Both of Kelley's feet are outside the goal line when ball is swiped out of his hand. Very close. OU gets early break at home.

He was in

And OU actually is looking pretty darn good right now, though it's early. Aggies go to Miami in a few weeks

Withdrawal

Withdrawal on OU looking good. At least their punting unit

"Excuse me while I whip this out."

Marshall settling

Marshall settling for end of the half field goal.  Learn from Boise St and App St.  You have to go for the throat.

Awful snap on the punt and Miami takes over at the OU 5

--PB--

I think he was their 5th (or worse) choice

Miami has no money and their facilities are crap. It's not the most attractive landing spot for a coach.

Miami's Kickers Struggling

Two poor, short punts and a very short and poorly covered kickoff. Wind?

in other games

nebraska doesn't look so hot against a VERY mediocre wake forest team playing without it's starting QB.

3-3 in the second quarter.

by billyzane on Sep 8, 2007 11:52 AM CDT reply actions

Kelly

looks scary against one-on-one coverage from the corner.

AW

the wind has to be doing something.  miami's kicks suck and OU's kicker keeps kicking them out of the endzone from the 30.

by billyzane on Sep 8, 2007 11:54 AM CDT reply actions

Agreed

Unfortunately for the U, Freeman can't throw the ball so changing sides for the second may not make much of a difference.

--AW--

by awiggo on Sep 8, 2007 11:55 AM CDT up reply actions

and Miami's corners are..

6-0 and 6-1.  My God this would be a crucifixion for the Tweedles.

--PB--

by Peter Bean on Sep 8, 2007 12:07 PM CDT reply actions

Why is OU

the only team in the country that can go from mediocrity to best-team-in-the-country overnight?

The rest of us have to struggle for years improving bit by bit until we reach that zenith of college football perfection.  But OU has done this unexpectedly twice in one decade.

By at least 40 points.

Vince Young wins football games.

i think miami might be terrible.

then again, we might be also.  we'll see tonight.

by billyzane on Sep 8, 2007 12:13 PM CDT up reply actions

Miami might be terrible

but OU looks sharp, confident, and energetic.

I think horn fans might have to go through most of this season with our eyes closed and our fingers in our ears screaming LA LA LA LA LA LA!!!!

by BrooklynHorn on Sep 8, 2007 12:15 PM CDT up reply actions

West Virginia

They are now down 16-13 to Marshall (who Miami beat last week.

by JohnsonUT on Sep 8, 2007 12:13 PM CDT reply actions

wake scores a TD

leads nebraska 10-6.  nebraska trying to undo big 12 goodwill the ou is accumulating.

by billyzane on Sep 8, 2007 12:13 PM CDT reply actions

Miami needs to..

recruit some offense.  They have the RB's down and the entire Defense. Whens the last time a QB you've heard of committed to Miami though?  Big task on Randy Shannon's shoulders.

by mvplonghorns on Sep 8, 2007 12:14 PM CDT reply actions

A little unfair

Kyle Wright was supposed to be the next great UM quarterback but have never played to his potential. He is currently backing up Freeman. That says a lot about how poorly he has been playing.

But you are right, Miami has a long way to go before returning to being a national player.

--AW--

by awiggo on Sep 8, 2007 12:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Kirby Freeman is spectacularly bad.

say what you will about Greg Davis, but he can develp QBs.

by cortexas on Sep 8, 2007 12:15 PM CDT reply actions

Quit it with all the..

pessimism.  This is a Miami team with no qb and they obviously look very rattled.  You can't say OU will destroy us, we had one bad game.  Didn't OU have ONE bad game at the beginning of last year too?

by mvplonghorns on Sep 8, 2007 12:15 PM CDT reply actions

Do I really want to know

what a "fuck lion" is?

I try to get excited when Miami does something good, but they just have nothing on offense. Dammit.

Go Temple!

at least they've got Bill Cosby going for them.  What's Buffalo ever done?

by BrooklynHorn on Sep 8, 2007 12:21 PM CDT up reply actions

OU is getting blown up on kick coverage

it's like Miami isn't trying to return kicks, they're just poaching for knockouts on unsuspecting sooners.

by cortexas on Sep 8, 2007 12:24 PM CDT reply actions

Nevada leads Northwestern

So the team Miami crushed last week is playing WVa pretty tough.

Nebraska is struggling, and the team they crushed last week is beating a big10 team.

Ohio St. is struggling with Akron.

Strange year.

use the pass to set up our run.  For sure, against ou where their too good to run on without hitting some passes down field first.

run a fucking QB sneak.

Would somebody

please tell Randy Shannon not to run the ball again, ever.  Ever.

by BrooklynHorn on Sep 8, 2007 12:40 PM CDT reply actions

All Things Considered

Not a bad half for Miami. It could have been a lot worse. Great change to go to Wright and ballsy call on the fake field goal. As long as OU doesn't score in the next min, Shannon will be pleased to just be down 21-10.

Meh

I thought the same thing during the first few years of USC's dynasty, when they kept winning by three points every single week and had no defense whatsoever, but the voters never seemed to care.

by BrooklynHorn on Sep 8, 2007 1:04 PM CDT up reply actions

voters are more than happy to vote down crappy performances...we went down last week and we weren't even on tv.  after the louisville/wvu sieve-like performances both on national tv, surely they'll go down a bit.

D. Murray 15 for 64

S. Bradford 19/25 for 205

What was OU's average starting field position?  The Miami 25?

BTW, if Bradford keeps up this pace, Colt's Freshman TD record is sooooo history.
