Let's GO HORNS
they need to come out with a bang, start strong and finish strong. Make an impression on the AP Voters.
screw the AP voters
once again, you guys are worrying way above your means.
win the damned game. Then worry about everything else. Don't worry about OU, A&M, worry about TCU. They can beat you.
I don't think they will, and I don't want them to. I want you guys to win all your games before you lose to us. :)
beat frickin' TCU, dammit. Run the ball well. That's the key. you know this.

Fumble into the endzone, but personal foul on TAMU so half the distance and first down FSU...?

Really you haven't missed much.
Recap:
Texas was losing the field position battle most of the quarter until TCU fumbled at midfield. After that, we were in rhythm for about 5 plays down to the 13, and two penalties killed that drive. We missed a field goal.
Glad we've gone back to the shotgun spread attack
Opening with the FB set was a lame attempt to fix the running game.

we've been predictable
And I'm noticing the old east/west offensive scheme, too.
That's 3 INTs in 52 passes total
About 6%. Not good.
colt stares down his receivers constantly
Colt may be the most heralded freshman QB who RIGHTFULLY doesn't finish his career as a starter at Texas. W/ Colt's receiving corp, he should be lighting it up.
GD fails to create an offensive gameplan that can rush for yardage.
which one is it?
Colt or GD?

Chiles?
New guy here so don't hate me, but do we need a spark? I love Colt, but how about giving Chiles a series to shake it up?
We do need a spark
We're so effing vanilla I want to throw up.
Whether that's Chiles or using a new tailback every now and again, or trying some new plays - MIX IT UP
Abandon Colt already huh?
That's not going to help his confidence.

these horns look like shit
I'm sick of this. I am going crazy. Some of us "over"reacted last week because we saw the same old shit.
Guess what folks, this season is already in the shitter. Did anyone else watch OU? They looked unstoppable. Think Bob Stoops is ready to tear Greg Davis apart? Hell yes he is, and Mack will be hearing it for the entire season.
They're worse now than they were a year ago. This is depressing.
Why would you ever run against us?
What's the point? We don't actually field a secondary. Thank god I've got a full bottle of Jose
This is a tight and non-aggressive Horn team.
I don't know what's wrong but something is.
Dangerous.
So much for all those passing options huh?
Good job defense. 4th down.
Do you go for it if you're TCU?

by bleed burnt orange on Sep 8, 2007 7:41 PM CDT reply actions
If Mack is the coach
everyone would like to think he is, this half time is essential to the rest of the season. Use it or lose it.
When you contrast the two offensive units
and their execution, we all should be. right now there's about a 50-point difference on a good day.
Church
The defense looks like their lost. The offensive line is nothing more than a speed bump, and TCU has serious momentum. 10 points against this defense is way out of Davis' imagination.
by tx beer hunter on Sep 8, 2007 7:42 PM CDT reply actions
10-0
10 points on two Texas turnovers - both Colt's fault.
We struggled last week because Colt played subpar. We're losing by 10 at half to TCU for the exact same reason.
Of all the things I didn't expect to be worrying about right now... it's Colt McCoy.
Holy. Shit.
Time to worry.
Under the radar
There's something to be said for expectations. Clearly Colt is having trouble adjusting to being "The Man." I don't know why and I wasn't expecting it, but he needs to calm himself down and get back to enjoying football. It's rubbing off on the rest of the team.
by DisplacedTexan on Sep 8, 2007 7:45 PM CDT up reply actions
thats gobbledigoo
psychoanalysis bullshit
Good job defense
Colt's INTs put the defense back on the field, but they respond and do a great job.
All 10 points from our own TO's.
Do you really want to put Chiles in against this defense?
by goingforthecorner on Sep 8, 2007 7:43 PM CDT reply actions
Do you really want to continue with this level of
execution with the present offense?
And Charles looks like he got a stinger or knocked down shoulder.
When was the last time someone pushed us around?
This is ridiculous. This team looks pathetic. TCU is looking like the freakin' '85 Chicago Bears.
we get the ball to start the 2nd half...
as long as we score, we're within 1 TD.
by bleed burnt orange on Sep 8, 2007 7:45 PM CDT reply actions
BS
Double check the last half, we moved the ball on one drive effectively, then killed ourselves with offensive pass interference penalties. Have had absolutely nothing since. There has not been even a glimmer that things were looking better. Dinks and dunks under the defense to get rid of the ball before a sack? They're just waiting for a mistake which we have been happy to provide.
by tx beer hunter on Sep 8, 2007 7:48 PM CDT up reply actions

Now Charles is likely going to be pulled, shoulder injury it looks like, hope its only a stinger, but this is absolutely horrible.
by tx beer hunter on Sep 8, 2007 7:45 PM CDT reply actions
crow
OK, I take it back for this week.. I'll have to admit it, if Davis and Mack really figured they would wear them down in the long run, and thus no reason to panic, then I underestimated them. I hesitate to say it with complete confidence, but what the hell. The outcome was truly awesome. I don't want to have to double my blood pressure dosage though to make it through the rest of the season.....
by tx beer hunter on Sep 8, 2007 9:59 PM CDT up reply actions
Is every.,.
key player going to sustain some kind of injury before even half way into the season? This is getting ridiculous. They need to take some shots deep and, I don't see any reason to stop running out of the Offset I, JC had a few solid 5-6 yard pickups through that.
I see a reason not to...
His name is Greg Davis and we have to use every unimaginative, slow-developing and predictable play sequence in our playbook to try and run while they dare us to throw downfield.
They dare us to do what we do best?
Actually, last year our deep attack was next to our running game as far as poor execution. And picking what we do best right now is embarrassing.
Of course, if you don't try, you don't know.
Your right; they're daring the Horns to go for it.
Maybe there will be a point where the Horns don't have a choice. Do we pull a Michigan or do we get mean, really mean, and dictate the game?
Moment of truth, part 2
I'll never forget at halftime of the OU game last season coming to my keyboard and typing something really, really nasty.
We came out in the 2nd half and responded.
I'll just say this: if there's not a complete 180 for the offense in the second half, you can hand me a pitchfork and look for me at the front of the line.
i'm not seeing any sparks to go on.
could be a long 2nd half for us.
by the other Andrew on Sep 8, 2007 7:49 PM CDT up reply actions
Play Chiles...
in our first offensive series in the 2nd half. Either he steps up and energizes us or at least it hopefully lights a fire under Colt.
We're a long, long, long way from VY.
Now is now.
And the future is hanging ominously before us.
Normally, we'd have someone heroically take the game on their shoulders and attack, attack, attack.
Lord Knows
Since the draw play from the shotgun was working so well, it is worth the safety of our best players to do anything but kneel the ball...
COME ON
I really hope there is a 180 change from 1st half to second. This could be a long season.
My big complaint is that we are doing that same small time stuff we do all the time thanks to Greg Davis. He has NO Imagination.
by LonghorninNYC on Sep 8, 2007 7:51 PM CDT reply actions
halftime adjustments
i changed into a new Texas shirt, which should be good for a touchdown at least.
what you got, greg davis?
Look...
at halftime we're winning the TOTAL yardage game AND the rushing yardage game (suprising?). The only reason we're losing is the two bad passes by Colt. Davis needs to take some DEEP shots on this coming drive.
Defense is playing well, and we'd have a TD or FG if it weren't for the 2 Offensive PI's.
We can still win this game. TCU isnt taking anything from us, we're giving it to them. Goddamn fans, get your heads out of your asses. We ARE playing shitty, but it's not over yet.
by bleed burnt orange on Sep 8, 2007 7:53 PM CDT reply actions

Nothing is free of risk. The other option is play action out of the I to get the time.

A&M picked the wrong Alabama coach, but that's OK. They'll find out the hard way.
That was a tight game last year for the most part.
RBs
Will we ever see Ogbannnayyanfngag or Vondrell get a carry in a situation that matters?
Doesn't
Chiles have a staph infection? I thought he was unavailable for this game, but i saw him stnading on the sideline. Thought you had to be quarantined until it was eradicated?
You can bandage that.
And reduce contact in dressing room, shower at home.
The key on that is if it is in a critical place.
Besides, he might give it to TCU. The bad news is it is too slow acting to matter in the game.
Recommend that
Texas dance during halftime. What's on Mack's ipod these days.
Wanted: Offensive Coordinater

They actually victimized TCU. Good to see. Jones is really playing well.
Horns
are getting it going.

JC with the B button!
First great run of the day (that I've seen at least).

Fine run by Charles.
We've been a step away from going on three plays.
Damn, damn, damn
Jeez, I hate it when you use all you TOs. Not wise.
No timeouts left
Hopefully we can blow this game open so it doesn't matter.

getting colt out of the pocket
adding some misdirections
things are looking up.
Challenge that. His knee was down.
Of course, we have no TOs to lose.
Why?
McCoy playing like a freshman. I don't think they're over turn this one.
by goingforthecorner on Sep 8, 2007 8:48 PM CDT reply actions
they'll*
I don't think he knee was down. This is huge.
We need to tie this game at least.
by goingforthecorner on Sep 8, 2007 8:49 PM CDT up reply actions
i will be surprised if they
overturn this
forward prog stopped AND...
his knee was down....
as long as these refs didnt just come from the tamu game, we should get this back.

OK good call
I don't want to hear this "TCU was hosed!" junk after the game.
At least the cameraman aren't collapsing.
10-10!!!

Reverses work if your running game is working
and the defense is over pursuing.
Passive crap to short side.
Stick it in the EZ.
Scare and stretch them if nothing else.
beautiful pooch kick
that is a first for the longhorns... at least in my memory.
i love it.
VY?
McCoy should only run in those situations.
nice run...
lets bring lokey in to blast the hole. or bring in chiles.

Great run by Colt
but he's limping a little, too.
Now we'll see the goal line offense.
O for 1.
WTF
McGee in the game for the first time on the goaline???? Bizarre to say the least.
McGee gets in with second carry.
Welcome to Texas.
McGee is the only Texas running back
who has scored from one yard out this season. Go figure
That's true. And TCU's is fading.
That's the real edge.
this is salvaging
a rough day for me. loving it. Vondrell on the goaline, just like BON called for - kind of.
Louisiana is happy
LSU up 14-0 against Va Tech.
SELOU ST (I think?) is up on Hawaii.

Dynamite comes in small packages.
And follows his blocks, too.
HELP
I just lost coverage (storm in the area) for the last 10 minutes - can someone give me a detailed response on what happened after we tied it 10-10?
Thanks
The situation
Texas recovered the ball on the ensuing kick off (TCU botched the squib(ish) kick). Major play of the drive was a run by Colt for about 20ish yards to the 1. Vondrell punched it in on the second try for 6.
by DisplacedTexan on Sep 8, 2007 9:03 PM CDT up reply actions
Recovered fumble on KO at 26.
On 3rd and 8, colt ran to the one.
McGee scored on second played over rt. tackle.
TCU fumbled the kickoff
Texas took it into the endzone in 4 or 5 plays. The key play was a long scramble by Colt to the 2 ydln. That was sandwiched in between a couple of ineffective running plays. We got stuffed on the goalline once, and took it in the second attempt. Both attempts were with McGee.
pooch kickoff
fumbled by upback, reecovered by texas.
ran a few plays, including a colt draw for about 15 yards to the 1. mcgee comes in for the goalline and gets in on the second try with great push from the line.
Chizick
Iowa St about to lose to Northern Iowa. Can you say 0-12 and SOS killa?
Slow Board
Is the board slow and unresponsive to others? I am not seeing messages updated automatically and I am not able to see follow up messages?
3 and out
The TCU defense should be winded. We should get good field position. Time to put them away.
Next Week
Maybe a first half and second half discussion next week?
Why is it that the....
Texas punter never gets off a punt like that? I mean, think about it, we never, ever, have a good punter on this team. I would be willing to give a schollie to a good punter.
Preaching to the choir
I've been arguing this for years. Go out, find the best kicker/punter you can - and sacrifice those two scholarships. They're a small cog that can make a big difference... especially in a tight game.
I'll always beat the drum for the kicker/punter.
