More DC buzz
According to Joseph Duarte of the Chronicle Mack is interested in several coaches (one of which is Muschamp)
http://blogs.chron.com/longhorns/200...
Bradley Dale Peveto, currently @ LSU as a LB/special teams coach is also on the list.
If Duarte is right about Akina sticking around, this seems to create a few possibilities. Duarte seems to think that Peveto and Muschamp are being interviewed for the same job, but I'm not so sure. I see three possibilities:
- Muschamp gets the nod to call plays and Akina is demoted
- Peveto comes aboard as co-coordinator and Akina stays as the playcaller
- Muschamp comes aboard as the playcaller and lead, Akina stays on, and Peveto comes aboard as the special teams coach and helps with the LBs.

Questions:
- With Les Miles staying, would this Peveto fella want to leave for a lateral position at best (as outlined in the third scenario)? Getting Peveto seems to mean giving up either Muschamp or Akina.
- The same question can be asked with Muschamp. I agree with PB that Texas is a step up from Auburn, but according to Wikipedia, Muschamp's an SEC guy (played at Georgia, started coaching at Auburn, also had the LSU stop). Would he want to leave for Texas pastures?
Just throwing it out there.
Also another query...
Is Paveto a candidate for the LSU DC job?
New OC.
If Mack wants to really make a new change he should go and get a new OC. The guy that would be perfect is the guy out of a job at Michigan. I love Mike Deborg (Spelling?). I think he would be awesome. He runs a pro-style offense and really develops qbs well. It seems like every year Michigan has a solid qb. They always have a good wideout, tailback and qb.

I agree..
DeBord is the pro-style version of Greg Davis.
I'd much rather stick to the spread offense.
Plus, Michigan can only put up big offensive numbers against Notre Dame.
Davis has been a problem, but given time to develop a gameplan, he has usually come through with a nice 30+ point performance. He is not who we need to replace first and God knows not with Mike DeBord.
My first choice would be someone who runs a creative spinoff of the spread. Much like Malzahn, Meyer, and Rodriguez.
What about Florida and Ohio State last year?

Question
I was under the impression that teams are limited in the number of coaches they can have on staff. If true, the third scenario could not happen unless another coach was removed. Does anyone know the rule about this (if there is one)?
