Matchups?
What are everyone's favorite matchups? Everyone likes the Mayo/Beasley in round 1 thing, but other than that?
I'll take the potential Xavier-Duke matchup as interesting. Don't know why. Aggies vs. UCLA gets to be my least favorite matchup. There's the potential Texas/St. Mary's rematch, and Texas could end up replaying its two biggest games in the Final Four with UCLA and Kansas back to back. I don't want to see UCLA again but I would love to play Kansas in the final.

A few non-Texas games I'd like to see
Marquette vs Kentucky - Ultimately I think Marquette will win this one, but if both teams show up it could be fun to watch.
Memphis vs Pittsburgh - This is a potential meeting between these two in the Sweet 16. I really hope this happens mostly because it will be a very physical game due to the way Pitt plays. If we do end up facing Memphis in the Elite 8, I'd like to see them worn out as possible.
Purdue vs Baylor - I really want to pick Baylor for this game, but they are so inconsistent it makes picking them tough. Purdue is one of those scrappy teams that is hard to beat when they are playing their hearts out, but if Baylor is hot it could be a fun game to see. If Jarrels and Rodgers play well for two games, I could see Baylor getting to the Sweet 16.
UCLA vs Xavier - I see this as a potential Elite 8 game in the West. I haven't had a chance to watch Xavier play, but I hear they are very balanced offensively and play good defense. If that plays out and these teams end up facing each other, UCLA better watch out. I could definitely see a team like this beating them.
At first glance, those are the games I'd like to see the most. I'll be catching as many Big XII team games as I can see as well.

Also
I really think some limit needs to be put on how many entries one individual can submit

Agreed...it should be one per person
Just my opinion though.

Matchups
I like Marquette-Stanford, in which I think Marquette will probably win. They have solid guards just like we do. Also, as I said before, Stanford NEVER does well in the tournament. They are consistent underachievers. Here are their results the last ten years:
06-07: #11 seed, first round exit
05-06: NIT
04-05: #8 seed, first round exit, lost by 23
03-04: #1 seed, second round exit, lost by 13
02-03: #4 seed, second round exit
01-02: #8 seed, second round exit, lost to Kansas by 25
00-01: #1 seed, elite 8 exit, lost by 14
99-00: #1 seed, second round exit
98-99: #2 seed, second round exit
I also want to see Louisville-Tennessee, Duke-Purdue/Xavier winner with TV on mute if Dickie V is commentating, and Pitt-Memphis

I'm the password?!
That's better than being front page material :)

New Data
The "Who Picked Whom" info has now been activated on ESPN. It's more fun than watching Bear Stearns' share price!

Committee not a fan of mid-majors
There's really no justification to putting Butler at the #7 seed. Butler is ranked #10 nationally! Drake (#5) should be higher also.
And the fact that they have Butler playing S. Alabama and Gonzaga playing Davidson in the 1st round means that according to them, the less mid-majors in the future rounds, the better.

I forget what show it was...
It was either today's PTI or Round the Horn, but someone was saying they felt like they put more mid-majors in to make sure some would be a guarantee to get into the later rounds. I don't know if they planned it that way or not, but it does seem odd that so many were paired against each other.

Time
How long does it usually take you all to finish writing your bracket?

I'll be working on it until Thursday AM
making changes every time you guys say something different.
heh heh

Maybe there should be a picking diary
where confidence levels can be tweaked through Thursday AM.
I've done what UTAth does when I feel I'm really in the info flow, but usually the more nuanced response over time yields better results for me.
I also usually pick out about 3-4 upsets in the first two rounds. More than that and you get upset-crazy and things go out of kilter. Sure, there could be a half-dozen upsets or more, but it seldom happens. Sometimes prospective upsets are just our perception of close matches which really aren't.
EX: Can KSU upset SC. If it were on Beasley, sure. But his team doesn't get him the ball enough anyway and SC will outman the KSU guards and gang up on Beasley. Not really as close as we might think at first blush IMHO.
And, say A&M vs UCLA if they get past BYU, which is possible. But, see, this doesn't even deal with basketball. If we're here depending on A&M to beat ucla, they'll fuck the dog like they always do. They ain't no long term depending on the Aggies. Would you trust Turdshit with anything precious? The guards will kill them and Love will finish them off.
So, this prospective thread should deal with close matches and upsets primarily, with both Pomeroy precision and yet outside info that has some redemptive value.

Took me about 30 minutes
I watch a lot of college games throughout the year so I already had a pretty good idea of how the majority of the field plays. That made deciding winners of odd match ups easier.

Fail
I notoriously fail at picking anything. I hope my wife isn't reading this.

in our bracket
is anyone else more scared of pitt than memphis? pitt is on a role and if they go head to head i think pitt will take it to memphis. i hope michigan st somehow comes out on that side of the bracket so we can have an easier rode to the final four.

Pitt
Pitt could really be tough. They match up well against Memphis. They are on a good streak and could be tough for us to handle. Memphis could be very vulnerable to our inside penetration: DJ could go off on those guys. defense will be the key against eiter one.
I like our half of the bracket. It could be a easy road to the Sweet Sixteen.

I think Pitt will beat Memphis
lack of shooting the free throw will kill them. I think that Memphis would match up better against us however based on the size aspect. Their gaurds are big and are great defensively. It would be a great game to see, 4 of the best gaurds in the nation.
