The hip injury that junior Texas Longhorns linebacker Jordan Hicks suffered in the first half against Ole Miss has been declared bad enough to keep him out for the rest of the season, head coach said Monday during his TCU press conference.
Hicks had missed each game since going out against the Rebels when he was the leading tackler on the team. Speculation had increased in recent weeks that the Longhorns would hold him out for the rest of the year in order to apply for a medical redshirt following the season. Brown said Monday that will be the case, though Hicks should also be eligible to take his normal redshirt year if his medical season is not approved (it should be).
The Texas linebackers struggled in the absence of Hicks, but has emerged in recent weeks as the young linebackers have adjusted to the speed of the game, have been put in better positions to succeed, and have avoided running themselves out of plays.
