US PRESSWIRE

Mack Brown announced on Sunday evening that both players are back with the team.

The Texas Longhorns football team met on Sunday after reporting for the spring semester and quarterback Case McCoy and Jordan Hicks were a part of it, having been reinstated by head coach Mack Brown, the school revealed on Sunday evening.

McCoy and Hicks had been suspended and sent home from the Alamo Bowl for violating team rules by being out after curfew. They have also been the subjects of an ongoing investigation after being accused of sexually assaulting a young woman in a downtown hotel on that Friday morning the day before the Longhorns played the Oregon St. Beavers.

The release also indicated that further discipline for the two players will be handled within the team, so neither player will be suspended to start the 2013 season.

And though the attorneys for both players said last week that no charges will be filed in that investigation, the San Antonio police said that matter has not yet been sent to the district attorney, though the representatives of Hicks and McCoy believe that the recommendation will be made that the matter be dropped.

The announcement from the team also ended speculation that McCoy would not be back with the team for his final season of eligibility, with one strain of thought holding that he could move on in an effort to drop down a level and earn a starting job for a year, rumors highly similar to those circulating last year before McCoy took to Twitter to shoot them down.

This time there were no public statements, just the release from the school, and it appears that McCoy will finish his career at Texas as David Ash's backup.
