While the spring game marks the highlight of spring practice, there's nothing quite like sitting in DKR for the first time since the season and taking in a practice as the calendar turns to March and gorgeous 70-degree days populate typical weather forecasts.
The Texas Longhorns announced just before the start of Mack Brown's Thursday press conference that there will indeed be two open practices this spring, as is typical, though such open practices have been limited during the fall in recent years.
For those fans interested in getting an early look at the 2013 team, the opportunities will occur on Friday, March 1 at 4 pm CT and the following day at 2 pm CT.
Unfortunately, if bad weather does for some reason intervene, the practices will be held at the indoor facility and closed to the public because of space limitations.
Originally scheduled for Easter Sunday, the spring game will be held on Saturday, March 30 at 6:30 pm CT and televised on the Longhorn Network. Brown said Thursday that it will mark one of the rare times during his tenure at Texas that the will spring game will occur in the evening and said that he believes it will have a positive effect on the atmosphere.
