Report: A'Shawn Robinson May Take More Visits

Concerns that 2013 Texas Longhorns defensive tackle commit A'Shawn Robinson (Fort Worth, TX/Arlington Heights) could take other visits died down in the late summer as he affirmed his 100% commitment to the Longhorns at various summer camps.

After taking in the Michigan-Alabama game several weeks ago, Robinson unexpectedly showed up in Tallahassee, Florida for the Clemson game. Consider the rumors resurfaced, except for real.

According to Hookem.com, the 247Sports Texas site, reported Tuesday that the naturally strong defensive tackle is receiving heavy interest from USC and Alabama ($). The source, cited as being close to Robinson's high school program, believes that USC is the largest potential threat. Be that as it may, a visit to Alabama is scary. Best to keep commits as far away from the tentacles of Nick Saban as possible.

The Trojans, however, have a full class, though talented cornerback commit Jalen Ramsey is taking visits and Lane Kiffin would surely welcome a visit from Robinson. Wouldn't put it past him jettisoning another commit to make room for Robinson, either.

The big defensive tackle who shined at The Opening under the tutelage of Ndamukong Suh, Robinson didn't say much during the summer when the rumors were swirling originally and barely said more when he did give interviews on the camp circuit.

As a result, the rest of his recruitment could be a string of visits popping up, followed by reports from sources. Preceded by reports from sources.

The key for Texas, as always in these situations, is getting Robinson back on campus. When that will happen isn't clear, but the West Virginia game is surely the one the staff has circled in their attempts to get Robinson in Austin. If Robinson doesn't make it in for that game, it's fair to ratchet up the level of concern.

Calling Robinson a solid verbal is probably a stretch at this point, but it's a much better situation to be in than still pursuing at a time when Texas fans and Mack Brown would be more than willing to bail on his recruitment.
