Texas' First Junior Day ended without any commitments. That changed today when Jake Oliver committed to Texas earlier today. I have a scouting report of the top 50 national player.
Texas coaches contact out of state blue chip recruits.
Pre-season workouts are full swing, but the Texas players aren't the only members of the program working hard.
Talking points:
* Jake Oliver. Aggie Legacy to Texas Longhorn. How did it go down? What Oliver brings to the table.
* Will Oliver committing cause a verbal avalanche? I have some thoughts.
* The Second Junior day is just around the corner. I'll have a brief preview. Kent Perkins reschedules. Bill is very excited about one invitation.
* There's been a change in recruiting philosophy. We'll discuss.
* Welcome our Mountain brothers. WVU joins the Big 12.
* TCU joins the conference and promptly poops the bed. We'll discuss, but keep it civil and polite.

[Update]: According to the arrest affidavit for Devin Johnson, the defensive back told an undercover officer that 82 TCU players failed the drug test administered by Gary Patterson on February 1st. --Wescott--

Shocking news Wednesday morning as TCU revealed that 17 students were arrested in a massive drug sting, including four members of the football team (their names have not yet been released).

The students and football players were arrested for selling a variety of drugs -- marijuana, cocaine, ecstacy, mollie, acid and prescription drugs. Why not heroin, you ask? Well, I guess college students don't do heroin.

And yes, TCU may have just taken an insurmountable lead in the 2012 Fulmer Cup standings.

Big 12 Releases 2012 Football Schedule

The Big 12 released the 2012 football conference schedule on the heels of the Big East formal announcement releasing West Virginia University.

Of note for Texas is the start of conference play will be out of pan and right into the fire with games against OSU, WVU, OU, and Baylor before catching a break against Kansas.

Texas better take advantage of a seemingly weak OOC schedule and carefully manage starter minutes because the conference schedule looks daunting.

~~Though the official Big 12 schedules are yet to be released, I think it is very safe to assume~~ The Big 12 schedules for 2012 have now been released (with a separate post to follow), and it is now official that the Couch-Burning Hordes Of Morgantown will be Austin-bound this fall.

Also, it appears quite possible/likely that our seasons going forward will conclude with games against ~~Texas Tech~~ Kansas State rather than Baylor -- a positive move, assuming TCU plugs into the A&M Thanksgiving slot, as it will mean we're no longer concluding the season with two straight on the road every other season as would have been the case keeping Baylor in that slot.
