Why the hell are we playing SHSU?
Is this a result of the 12th game being added?  Not that I would want to play Penn State or USC again in that slot, but SHSU?

by GoHorns on Jan 9, 2006 3:45 PM CST   0 recs

correct
No one wanted this and it's been assured it's a one time deal, but apparently Sammy was the best we could do on such short notice.

I don't want to hear any complaints from readers in Texas.  I would kill a hobo to be able to see an extra home game no matter who it was against.

I'm pretty certain...
that the footage of you versus the hobo would be more intriguing than that of Texas killing Sam Houston State.  Sweet lord.  Well, it will be a good warm-up game for the new QB for OU...

Not to be a Debbie Downer...
but that schedule looks difficult.

Games we need to worry about: tOSU, OU, @Neb, @TT

And also, the Ohio State game is kind of setting up to be like last year's, only backwards.  The away team is coming into the second game of the year off a very strong BCS bowl appearance where their athletic quarterback made a name for himself (though a smaller degree, as Troy Smith is no Vince Young by any stretch of the imagination).  The home team (and probably a slight underdog) will still be working out kinks in their quarterback situation and may use a couple different looks under center.

Here's to hoping two things happen.  Let's hope Ohio State doesn't win, and let's hope Austin fans outclass those god-awful Columbus "fans".

Don't forget A&M
tOSU, OU, @Neb, @TT will all be obstacles that deserve attention, but A&M will never be a free one.  Fran doesn't want the rivalry to get out of hand (6 years and counting).

Troy Smith is showing significant strides and will be scary.  Even if he's only 80% what VY was, anyone would gladdly take that. UT D luckily has faced VY in practice over the years and hopefully will limit the damage done by the other #10.  Don't forget Ohio St. is replacing all three of those great LBs.

What is the 3rd game to come home for
It is a given I will make the flight down for Ohio State and OU in Dallas, but what should be the third game, OKST or TAMU?

by Wells on Jan 9, 2006 4:43 PM CST   0 recs

SHSU
That'll be the "Game of the Century"

Ok, maybe not.

by GoHorns on Jan 9, 2006 4:45 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

TAMU
They usually play two halves of football against them.

Don't forget
1/8/07 vs. USC at the Fiesta Bowl
Fight On, Beat the (insert Trojan oppoent here)!

Close
I have a feeling USC will be in the Rose Bowl again and UT will be in the other Fiesta Bowl.

It appears that with this 5th BCS game the Rose Bowl can return to its sacred PAC-10/Big Ten match up.  If only Aaron Rodgers were around to see it.

by Lincoln on Jan 9, 2006 5:29 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Next year
They call it the BCS Championship Game next year, but it rotates sites (same as the Fiesta Bowl for 2006) every year to one of the 4 major bowl sites.

I wouldn't count out USC, they're still much better than any team in the Pac-10, even without Bush, White, and Leinart. Trojan fans should expect another Rose Bowl appearence.

As far as Texas's schedule goes, I think that the only 4 games we worry about are OSU, OU (as always), @TT, and A&M (as always).  I just don't see Nebraska as a threat yet, even in their house.  Prior to the Michigan game, they hadn't really been very good on offense. It's possible that we may win all of our games, but don't be suprised if QB inexperience bites us in the ass once or twice during the season in spite of all the returning talent.

You can gauge Nebraska pretty early
We play them before you (I think, don't have time to check right now).
