Who to root for in the Poinsettia Bowl

These are the dog days.  The days when the college football on TV kind of makes you die inside, but while you're dying inside, remember there's always a way to extrapolate a rooting interest out of a seemingly meaningless football game.

The Poinsettia Bowl tonight pitts Garrett Wolfe and Northern Illinois against the TCU Horned Frogs...and we should all be rooting for TCU.

When we play TCU next season it will be important that they enjoy that vaunted momentum that they could gain from a Poinsettia Bowl win.  Just look at the winner of last year's Poinsettia winner...Navy...they did okay this year...

So if you thought there was no way that you could care about every insignificant bowl game, think again.

Gotta go with TCU out of self-interest here. As bad as our non-con schedule is next season, we could use a boost from TCU being solid heading into the year.

Correction
Make that the "San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl". Nothing says 'big time bowl' like a local sponsor.

Thanks...
For reminding me about the decision I'm going to have to make come next September 8.  Oh well.

As for tonight, GO FROGS!!

What do you think - Over/under on how many yards Wolfe racks up against our D.

The degree says TCU, but the heart says "Hook 'em"

It should be a good
Strength vs. Strength matchup.  You've got Wolfe, the nation's top RB against the 4th-ranked Horned Frog rush defense.  Pretty decent for the bowl kickoff.

Just a side note, I'll be attending TCU next year, so expect to see a bit of orange in the student section when these two teams meet.

Mack's always played a weak OOC schedule
This isn't some new phenom, as it is just a continuation of Mack Brown's scheduling at North Carolina. Here is a list of every OOC game played during Mack Brown's final 9 seasons at North Carolina.

VMI, (2)Kentucky, (2)Navy, (3)S.Carolina, Miami,OH), UConn, Cincinnati, (2)Army, William & Mary, Furman, (2)Ohio, UTEP, (2)Tulane, (2)TCU, SMU, (2)Syracuse, (2)Louisville, Houston, Indiana and Stanford. Oh, and his AD forced him to play an (8-5)USC team in a PigSkin Classic for the money. That is one patsy after another for 9 full seasons!
