Scary Scenario
Moreover, he went on to say that he thinks the game will go back to a home and home after 2010 because it's almost a certainty that the Cotton Bowl New Years Day game will move to Jerry's new stadium in Arlington and there is no way the City of Dallas will do the necessary renovations to the CB for only one game a year.
Okay, now on to the scary scenario...Sherington writes: "What if OU continued to play its home games against Texas in the Cotton Bowl as a recruiting tool, and what if it only allowed Texas the standard issue of a few thousand tickets for opposing fans?"
That puts a feather back in OU's hat, although I serious doubt they'd ever do it. One, OU can get a lot more money from the game playing it in Norman and their fans won't like the fact that the both games are still played in Texas. Plus, knowing the deep pockeets of Texas fans, most ofus would find a way into the stadium anyway.
Regardless, it's interesting to think about and admittedly, it does give more credence to Matt H's assertion that recruiting is a huge factor on where this game is played.
Sherington also mentions that OU would probably try to keep a game in Dallas against TCU or SMU to maintain the recruiting ties, but that Texas would probably counter by playing Arkansas over at Jerry World that same weekend just to overshadow OU's presence.
Aren't rivalries fun?

Gross
And yes, if they had the balls to play their half of the home game in Dallas, enough Horns fans would find their way in to negate the desired impact, I suspect.
And, of course, you're right: it's always about more money. They'd play in Norman.
