I'm here
Who wants pizza and beer?

Beer I've got
I'll take some pizza, though. Anyone volunteer to go out in the damn icy rain to get it?

That's the beauty of the pizza delivery concept
It ain't my neck I'm risking!

Better tip the kid
he is going to need it for fixing his car.

Ice?
It's 65 in LA.

by the other Andrew on Jan 16, 2007 5:27 PM CST   0 recs

How about some
shots of tequila?  Maybe a drinking game like whenever KD impregnates an unsuspecting female or blocks a shot, we take a drink.

Based on the weather reports I'm seeing
Don't be surprised if we're locked down again tomorrow.

by PB @ BON on Jan 16, 2007 5:28 PM CST   0 recs

Another reason to hate
Houston.  The weather!  Too freaking hot and humid in the summertime or not cold enough to ice over so we can miss work. Blah.

Is this "blog-gating" new
or have yall been doing it for awhile now?  or is getting the open thread rolling 2.5 hours before tip-off a cheap way to break a record?

by Hornbud on Jan 16, 2007 5:33 PM CST   0 recs

Just in case
I can't get away from the TV later, I'll go ahead and make a prediction here.

Horns take it 81-76.

Hey, let's do a Dan Patrick

weight?
but whats a "Dan Patrick"?  Besides the guy, I mean.

by the other Andrew on Jan 16, 2007 6:19 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

never mind
i googled it.  i haven't listened to talk radio since i was a courier in Austin 5 years ago.  for those who don't know, callers list their height and weight on Dan Patrick's show when they call in.

by billyzane on Jan 16, 2007 6:20 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Yeah, oops
That was supposed to be 6'4" not 44

What no age?
How am I supposed to judge the ability of a caller with weight and hight but no age?

by Wells on Jan 16, 2007 6:34 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Slick but passable
In response to you question on the other post. I'm in Stillwater about to head over to GIA. There is about 3 to 4 inches of ice on the ground. The roads aren't great but they are passable. As of a few hours ago the game wasn't a sell-out. Thus my ability to snag a few tickets.

Keep in mind that OSU hasn't played since getting hammered by Kansas almost a week ago and it could be a non-sell out late arriving crowd because of the weather.

Look for me on TV. I'll be the guy with the OU hat on!

by MattH on Jan 16, 2007 6:45 PM CST   0 recs

Thanks Matt
Maybe the late arriving crowd will never arrive. Maybe they will think better of attending due to hazardous road conditions and watch on TV instead. Maybe, but probably not.

We'll look for you.

More Praise for Durant
CBS Sportsline has an article up about Durant. Not bad. Basically it says KD is showing what supreme talents like Kobe, Lebron, etc could have done had they gone to college.

Aaron Gray
Damn, if Connor was HALF the player Aaron Gray was, we'd be a national championship contender.  I know, Gray is 2 inches taller and 45 pounds heavier, but he's got the same frame and should have the same skills.

Heck, I'd settle for Levon Kendall-type skills at this point.

I'm feeling this game
We're playing great basketball right now and they're not.  In this game being hot is almost everything.

by txengineer on Jan 16, 2007 7:54 PM CST   0 recs

UConn and Texas
Watching this UConn game, I think it important to point the great job that Rick Barnes has done this year.

UConn lost their top seven guys. Texas lost six of their top seven guys. UConn is playing with basically all sophomores and freshman. The same for the Horns.

Yet, Jim Calhoun knew his team would need time to develop. They played a cupcake schedule early and tried to build confidence. They are coming around but not there yet. Rick Barnes didn't back down and challenged his young team early with out of conference matchups in New York, with Gonzaga, with LSU, and with Tennessee. We have already seen the benefits. Great job Rick.

Two things
  1. I hate this part where you have to watch the final minute and a half of some game you care nothing about while you wait to get to the tip of the Texas game. Dickie V screaming is not helping.
  2. Voting is CLOSED on the Enemy first round matchups. Your winners: Kellen Heard, Sooner Mom, Eric Pederson, and Merril Hoge. No upsets. I think we got the right four.

The nation can wait
I hear we have a pretty good freshman that I should watch.  Full disclosure: I haven't seen a game this season except for about 5 minutes of the LSU game. But I am going to Philly to see the Nova game on Saturday so I figured I should watch us play. Plus I keep reading how KD can dunk from halfcourt ...

by T Keaton on Jan 16, 2007 8:07 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Keys to the Game
From the preview:
  1. Control the tempo. The faster the better.
  2. Stay out of foul trouble (especially KD and James).
  3. Start quickly and limit crowd's effect on the game.
  4. Win the battle from behind the arc. Control Harris, Eaton, and James on defense while knocking down some on the other end to keep the OSU defense from collapsing on Durant.
Hook 'Em.

by Wells on Jan 16, 2007 8:19 PM CST   0 recs

A block,
a steal, and the layup.  How many shots is that?

by hornbone on Jan 16, 2007 8:19 PM CST   0 recs

Uh oh
This is the point in the half where we stumble - Lewis and Connor in.

by PB @ BON on Jan 16, 2007 8:20 PM CST   0 recs

Augustin on Curry
is not a good matchup for us.

give us something tonight!

God
I'd love to see our students do that.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 16, 2007 8:22 PM CST   0 recs

So...
How about just being down 7-8 when we take Lewis and Atchley out, that'd be nice.

by txengineer on Jan 16, 2007 8:22 PM CST   0 recs

Lewis simply
cannot rebound on the baseline.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 16, 2007 8:23 PM CST   0 recs

Durant
You cant cover that, if he starts making that game over.

by Wells on Jan 16, 2007 8:23 PM CST   0 recs

That was nice
Cant wait to see him next year, he is definitely performing far better than his shenanigans last year
Hey Boise State fans, no pictures of crying OU kids on your fanblog ok?

by bendj on Jan 16, 2007 8:24 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Connnnnnor!!
Wooo!!!

We could use a good night from him.

by PB @ BON on Jan 16, 2007 8:24 PM CST   0 recs

Lewis on Curry
is even worse. We only went 2-3 on the baseline out of bounds, like we always do.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 16, 2007 8:24 PM CST   0 recs

Errr
Lewis on that zone is awkward.

God he's useless.

bad call.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 16, 2007 8:26 PM CST   0 recs

put those points back up
Hey Boise State fans, no pictures of crying OU kids on your fanblog ok?

by bendj on Jan 16, 2007 8:26 PM CST   0 recs

wow.
never seen refs reverse a call like that before.

by billyzane on Jan 16, 2007 8:27 PM CST   0 recs

Interior rebounding
Is pitiful right now. That's got to improve or we're in trouble.

by PB @ BON on Jan 16, 2007 8:27 PM CST   0 recs

Augustin Out
and it really shows.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 16, 2007 8:27 PM CST   0 recs

Layups
Every other possession for them is a layup (or a tipin off the rebound)

by Texas Wahoo on Jan 16, 2007 8:28 PM CST   0 recs

yeah
Our inside guys seem to be jumping too early and swiping wildly at the ball, leaving the lane open.

by hornbone on Jan 16, 2007 8:31 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

imagine you or i
playing college basketball.  lewis might be able to shoot better than us, but that's about it.

by billyzane on Jan 16, 2007 8:28 PM CST   0 recs

The reality
The reality is, to beat good teams, we're not gonna be able to steal many minutes with Lewis and Atchley.

by PB @ BON on Jan 16, 2007 8:28 PM CST   0 recs

Why not Winder instead of Lewis?
Just don't pass him the ball, atleast he can play a little defense.

by txengineer on Jan 16, 2007 8:30 PM CST   0 recs

Lewis down low
For the record, I think that JD Lewis playing in the back of the zone against a team with a lot of size is a bad idea.

by sonnyalvaradorules on Jan 16, 2007 8:30 PM CST   0 recs

Agree
he usually comes in for Abrams but tonight he went in for Mason leaving AJ and DJ and the top. Not good.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 16, 2007 8:31 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Hill in
as well in the first half. Not bad though 24-23 Horns as Durant takes a breather.

Rebounding is definitely a concern. We haven't snagged one cleanly during any of the possessions when we played the 2-3 zone. We block out much better in man.

--AW--

by awiggo on Jan 16, 2007 8:30 PM CST   0 recs

Lewis is light years above most highschool stars
he is a very good player and would kill you on the playground, but he is just at a level now that is a bit above his head.

by Wells on Jan 16, 2007 8:31 PM CST   0 recs

lewis and atchley
atchley does what he's supposed to do (stand around and be tall) better than lewis does what he's supposed to do (shoot 3's and otherwise pass to someone with discernible basketball skills).  but we don't have any backup guards other than Lewis.  he's it on the bench.
