Who to Root For?

I don't know who to root for in Monday's MNC game Florida or Ohio St. I want to root for Ohio State but i can't stand Jim Tressell and his bland bullshit and it also pissed me off how he screwed Mo Clarret. Tressell and his voting crap to irrates me. How he said he voted us numero uno but really didn't vote for us and then when he didn't vote at the end of the year. It also pissed me of how Ohio State stole a national championship in 2002 with one of the worst calls ever. That was hands down the luckiest team ever ever. Also Ohio St. beat Michigan which is my second favorite team and i felt Michigan should have one plus they also beat us on a fluke fumble. Billy Pittman doesn't fumble we win that game hands down.

Now about Florida the only reason that i won't root for them is they are a team that just gets lucky i hate teams that "find ways how to win". They should have lost to the "Ol' Ball Coach" God i love that guy and to Georgia as well. Then LSU gave the game away with a million turnovers. How that team not go undefeated i mean come on the talent they have. Is Les Miles that bad of a coach i really think he is one of the worst big game coaches out there. His team is due for a collapse every once in a while. Also i hate how SEC schools brag about how great their conference is. Urban Meyer what a loser he started complaining and lobbying before the season was over at least Mack had some class and waited until the season was over. Plus i don't like the guy and i hate his offense it is such a pussy offense. Florida they just luck and they beat my third favorite team FSU and then Urban Meyer's speech about style points which he included Kentucky, Vanderbilt and a washed up FSU team in his speech about difficulty of schedule what a joke. So who should i root for or should i root for a 3-0 game with a million turnovers and a million three and outs.

I'm pulling for Ohio State, personally.
First off, Billy Pittman doesnt fumble, we have an actual good game on our hands, not a 24-7 disaster.  Putting the win on the shoulders of a first quarter fumble is a bit heavy, especially against OSU.

This National Championship game sucks, as for the first time in a while there is neither a team I heavily pull for (Texas '05) or a team that I hate with a passion (Miami '02, OU '03 and '04).  In this situation, I usually pull for the team that beat us in the regular season, as not to show that it was a major fluke.  Seeing as K-State and A&M both got run over in their bowl games, it would be nice to see one of our foes actually pull out a win and make me sleep a little better at night.

Hey Boise State fans, no pictures of crying OU kids on your fanblog ok?

I'm for OSU too
For those reasons you mentioned, but also for more petty reasons. I have a friend who has called Florida "his gators" since I've known him. I have no idea why, he didn't go to school there, never lived in Florida, nothing. I just know, if UF wins, he'll say something like "well, your Longhorns won last year, and my Gators won this year," and I won't be able to handle that. You're not allowed to talk shit about a school that you don't have any connection to, especially if he's trying to talk shit about UT, which I did go to.

So, like I said, petty. But I can't help it.

nobody
If you don't know who to root for, then don't root for anyone and just enjoy the game.  I don't see how it should matter to anyone aside from Florida and OSU fans who wins this game.

Well
I dont see why you think we can't root for a team even though its not yours.

huh?
Your misuse of pronouns makes that sentence a little difficult to understand.

But my main point is that if you don't initially "know" who to root for, then don't root for anyone.  Plus, I don't see how a secondary rooting interest (e.g., fan behavior, coach personality, obnoxious friends) makes a game any more or less enjoyable.  Now you can argue this point, and it certainly has some merit, I just don't agree with it.

But root for who you want to root for.  I don't see how it could matter.

Florida
Because of the antics of Ohio St. fans, I will never cheer for OSU, unless it somehow helps Texas.

neither, really, except....
I don't care enough about this game to even make a point of watching, but I hope I wake up on Tuesday and see that Florida won.  No one has seriously questioned Ohio State's #1 ranking all year, so I'd like to see them get stuffed.  Very mature of me, I know.

Ohio State
I cheered for Texas last year because they went to Columbus and beat OSU in the regular season.  I always like it when two top tier schools that don't have to play each other, do.  It is good for the game.   I wanted to see Mack and the team cap off a great season.

I would think many Texas fans would cheer for Ohio State for coming down to Austin and pulling out a victory.

"i can't stand Jim Tressell and his bland bullshit and it also pissed me off how he screwed Mo Clarret"

Screwed Mo Clarret?!?  Please stick to posting about issues you know something about.  Maurice was his own undoing.  If he thought Tressel had screwed him, do you think he would have continued to contact him (up until the night he was arrested) and tell Tressel that he should continue to tell his players what he does, even if they don't want to hear it, because he (MC) should have listened?

I understand many people think JTressel is shifty and don't like him but don't say he screwed Maurice.  Maurice only has himself and his "advisors" to blame.

"Because of the antics of Ohio St. fans, I will never cheer for OSU, unless it somehow helps Texas."

What you mean the .01% of OSU fans that acted like jerks when Texas went to Columbus?  I was at that game with a good friend who is a UT alum. He still has nothing but good things to say about his treatment in Columbus.  There are bad apples everywhere.

Go Buckeyes!

0.01%?
Bad treatment of opposing fans in Columbus is pretty well established.  Many, many Texas fans, including some I know personally, had bad experiences and that is all I need to hear.  Its not the "0.01%" that worries me.  It the  99.99% that do/did nothing about it.

Bad treatment at many schools is established
I had my car keyed in Austin with an OSU sticker.  I guess that I should smear you all other UT fans with the broad brush since no one "didn't do anything about it."

Good logic.

by TXBuckeye on Jan 8, 2007 2:05 PM CST up reply actions

Sorry about that.
Sorry you had your car keyed.  But, are you going to tell me OSU fans got treated as bad in Austin as UT fans did in Columbus??  Did UT's president have to apologize?

by JohnsonUT on Jan 8, 2007 7:42 PM CST up reply actions

Nah, tOSU fans are dicks
No defending there, its pretty established.  That is why most people I talk to always pull against tOSU because consensus is, you guys are assholes.  It is never "the team" or just random hate, people almost always say "I hate their fans".  I live in Tempe, AZ now and was at the bar this weekend and it was obnoxious.  Fights and arguments everywhere.
