Holiday Bowl Mini-Preview + Monumental Choke Job!
NBC edited the tape down a bit, but when we recorded the segment, I stumbled for 10 seconds to remember the last two lines of the Eyes of Texas. Which is fine - I learned long ago not to be afraid to look like an idiot - but this is a particularly mystifying gaffe. I did the math and calculated I must have belted out that tune at least 250 times in my life.
Apparently, though, not under pressure. The lesson, as always: don't be afraid to laugh at yourself.
Happy Holidays,
PB

Nice PB
What you needed to do was put your horns up and then rock it back and forth.

Yeah
I stumbled at first because I thought she was asking about the words to the fight song, and I got paralyzed. Then I realized my error, it had already been 5 seconds, and I was lost.
In retrospect, I should have belted out the whole damn song.

Were you faking it?
Even I could probably have gotten out the last 2 lines for the song, and I'm not even a UT fan/alum/parent/person-who-writes-thousands-of-words-a-week-about-Texas! For shame, Peter Bean!
I did get a chuckle though, reading on one of the ASU message boards from someone who was at the ASU-UT battle of the bands today who reported, "I don't know what was up with the Texas band...they played different versions of "I've Been Working On The Railroad" like 3 different times!"

It Happens to the Best
Don't feel bad. It is like those professional singers who, facing a large live audience, "forget" the words of the "Star Spangled Banner." Besides, I imagine the hottie interviewing you was something of a distraction. Good job anyway.

"Give'em Hell! Give'em Hell!
Make'em eat SHIT!!!!!"
I say that after I sing any song. I got some nasty looks at church Christmas Eve.
