Morning Coffee
I was just going to make brief mention of this event, but Cody Cheek (better known around here as txtwstr7) emailed with a firsthand account. Take it away, Cody:
It was a great event, as McCoy, Lokey, Orakpo, Okam, and Kelson all came out during their off-day to work with the future junior officers of the U.S. Military. Orakpo is f-ing huge, by the way, check the photo gallery. You should also check the photo gallery to address the concerns about Colt McCoy getting too muscular to maintain his speed...non-issue.
Really nice gesture from Mad Dog, who brought out several of his own instructors, in addition to the players... I want to emphasize that both the instructors and players were extremely professional about the event and made all the cadets feel like they really wanted to be there, instead of it being an unwanted obligation or distraction.
The Longhorn baseball team is in Lincoln for a three game set with the Cornhuskers. TexasSports has a first look at the series. Expect Corn Nation, which is heavily focused on college baseball, to be covering every pitch. Texas will go with James Russell on Friday, Adrian Alaniz on Saturday, and Joseph Krebs to close out the series on Sunday. Nebraska is 22-15 on the season, 7-8 in Big 12 play.
ESPN's Chad Ford is reporting that Greg Oden and Mike Conley Jr. will enter the NBA Draft. I can't say I'm surprised.

First off nice post by txtwstr
Second, so who should a team pick Oden or Durant? (homer litmus test -- even if they really need a center)
IMO, Conley and Cook are out of their minds by declaring. Cook may go undrafted and Conley is a one trick pony thus far (huge upside, but not even close to being a complete player)
argh!
I can't believe I'm not in Lincoln for this series.
Nebraska and Texas have built a pretty good rivalry in baseball. It's still pretty young, but since we've been consistently good (around the start of the Big 12), it's been pretty intense.
It's a big series for us. We started poorly, and have won our last two Big 12 series in a row. Now you guys come to town. If we win the series, we'll pull up into where we need to be for a NCAA regional. If we lose, we'll still be scrapping for it.
I believe tonight's game is on CSTV, and I have another commitment (which is why I'm not in Lincoln).
Bloody hell.

Oden does it
"Freshman teammates Mike Conley Jr. and Daequan Cook also said they will make themselves available for the draft. Unlike Oden, they have opted not to hire an agent for now -- meaning they will retain the option of returning to school in the fall."

put me in the group of people
convinced that Conley will return. i mean, obviously, if he's willing to test the waters, it's basically going to depend on where he's going to get drafted. if he's a lottery pick, he's gone. if he's borderline 1st/2nd round, he's coming back.
the one thing he does have going for him in this draft is a relative lack of good point guards. that could push him up higher in the draft than he might otherwise logically go. but i don't know. he's a very good player, but when i watched him, i didn't think to myself that he was NBA-ready.
but i guess that doesn't really matter if some lottery team is willing to draft him.
