Pass First Philosophy

As Longhorn football fans to adjust to a pass happy team - the transition is aided by a great quarterback to pull the trigger, incredible depth at WR, and a TE with tremendous potential.  No other team in the country could feature a 5th WR like Nate Jones.  What team would have the CB depth to put up with the Horns?  Add the mad scientist Greg Davis, a few trick plays, and the Horns look to be an offensive juggernaut.

While I can't wait to see Colt light up the scoreboard right up to the day he claims his Heisman in New York - I cannot take another season where the mighty Longhorns cannot pick up a yard when they need it.  Coach Davis has to either find a way for the line to protect - but be nasty on running plays - or lets get Chiles on the field with an offensive package designed to maximize the ground game.  It worked with Tebow in Gainesville and it can work with Chiles in Austin.

we need to use chiles..

exactly like Tebow was used.  obviously Tebow was more of a power runner and ran more straight draws, so chiles should be more effective as a read-option..if he's used properly he could become a nightmare for opposing D's

can we really expect back to back freshmen qb miracles?

that can be an option

or maybe use him for trick plays like where he lines up as a reciever and throws since he did play qb during his high school years. or maybe a quick or wide reciever screen. i dont know if its a good idea lining him up as a qb because first opposing defense will probably know what he's gonna do (qb option, draw etc..) second colt might get off his rhythm

Chiles' Play

Davis needs to sit down and design a complete package for him specifically designed to pick up the 3rd and short or key 2 point conversion opportunities.  As part of the package - we could feature both Chiles and Colt.  I wouldn't know how to defend these kind of situations.
