54b Weekly Challenge
Since our pageant master is MIA, the need to carry on the spirit of his commentary is all the more profound.
Last week's kickoff to the weekly fun was a rousing success, with Kahuna, in particular, rocking the show. Jason Mayer was right there with him. Both will receive t-shirts.
This week's challenge: Quotes From Darrell Royal.
If you need help finding quotes to work into your commentary this week, start here.

Royal Quotes
"If good luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity, bad luck is what happens when lack of preparation meets a challenge."
"Even a blind hog finds an acorn once in awhile."
"Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity."
"You've got to be in a position for luck to happen. Luck doesn't go around looking for a stumblebum."
"Three things can happen when you throw the ball, and two of them are bad"
That is one of my favorite quotes..........
"Three things can happen when you throw the ball, and two of them are bad." DKR at his best............
Taking a pass
Last week was fun, but I'm getting married on Saturday and spending the two weeks after that in Mexico so I won't be able to partake in the reindeer games for a while.
And, as DKR once said, I used to care more about the score than I do now...
congrats Kah................
Like DKR once said:
"The good news is there's 17 million people who care about Texas football. The bad news is there's 17 people who care about Texas football".
I include you in "good" 17 million.
Have a safe trip..................
Congratulations
Marriage is a wonderful thing. "I know that the odds are against a marriage lasting 60 years." Regardless, best of luck to you and yours, and may you make it 60 years or more.

Congrats Kah
Not so much on the marriage, but the 2 weeks in Mexico! Can't beat it.
Anyways, Here is to another week of good quotin. After all, "I just live one day at a time, and scratch where it itches." - DKR
thanks PB
Although I might have to bow out of this week's challenge. It's a lot easier for me to use something when it's already floating around in my head. Having to look these up will be too difficult.
Great quote
Back to the story I was telling in this diary...
My scholarship donor was telling Royal that when Royal was hired (at age 32), the donor was still a UT student, and that if he were in charge of UT football, there's no way he would have hired Royal.
Royal's response was, "If I were in charge, there's no way I would have hired me either."
DKR Quotes
I think this was one of the classics: On Baylor DKR said "They are like a cockroach, it isn't what they eat or carry off, it's what they fall into and mess up"
I always enjoyed Coach Royal's quotes, but . . .
. . . in one last word of appreciation to Kevin Durant, I really really like a saying Kevin shared that he had learned from his father (and I've never heard this quote before):
Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
The truth that is locked up within that statement is amazing. Long after Kevin has played in several NBA All-Star games, I will still remember that quote.
Randy Moss
Is a perfect example of this saying - all that talent . . . practically wasted.
My longtime favorite quote:
Hell, no. I'm not going to candy this thing up. These are work clothes. (on fancy striped uniforms)
