One of my favorite players on the WBB team, Carlo Cortijo, has evidently decided to transfer to St Johns to be closer to members of her family. Cortijo, a gutsy PG from Puerto Rico, came to the Horns from Bellaire HS in Houston, where her family had relocated to improve her prospects of playing NCAA basketball. Her parents have since moved back to PR, however, and evidently Carla is homesick. Understandable.

While I wish Carla nothing but the best at her new school, the Horns now have no true PG for 2007, and will have to use either Erika Arriaran in a role she struggled in as a Freshman, or Brittainey Raven, the fastest player on the team but not the best ball-handler or distributor. There's also an option to use the oft-injured Crystal Boyd. None of these options inspires a great deal of confidence. I hope Coach G is scanning the JC ranks to see if she can find a solid floor general to join the team this summer.

That Sun Bowl dive by Priest is often forgotten (it was the 1994 Sun Bowl, though).  And it was unreal- picturesque, even.  In fact, a giant blown-up photo of that play was in the hall of the football department's office, right outside Mackovic's/Mack's door, while I was in school.

Tellus is a funny guy, but it looks like he took English and Grammar from the same teacher as Vince Young.

He came off the DL last week and is looking to be called up because of Laird's disappointing season. The Rangers are likely to call it quits after the All Star break and it would be an ideal situation for him.
