Melton Meltdown
Big Henry Melton's troubles and disappointing performance on the field has been well-documented on BON, so it shouldn't be a big surprise to BON'ers that he's now getting into some trouble OFF the field.
According to a subscriber-only link on Rivals...
The Texas Longhorn football program received some troubling news on Friday morning when junior Henry Melton was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. A former running back, Melton moved to defensive end in the spring and is expected to compete for playing time next fall.
Is this the beginning of the end for Hank the Tank on the 40 Acres?

i wouldn't call it the beginning of the end,
it's more like a midpoint towards the end. Unless he turns out to be a badass DE, and if Mack lets him play. Anyone know how high up on rotation he was for that position? I am still rooting for the guy though, he needs to get his Hank the Tank name back.
if only he would grasp
the north/south running philosophy, he would not be half bad. His problem, we all know, is when he looks in the mirror, he sees Barry Sanders. But this can't be good for him considering Kindle may get red zone touches now and we are pretty deep at DE.

speaking of red zone touches
Will Lokey get any of that action this season, or will the coaches keep him on defense full time?
I guess Payne was in the car with him
It is safe to assume he was drinking too and if not, Mack is gonna want to know why not?
Not a huge deal -- and I can't be too critical myself, since most of us have been there.
DUI is pretty bad
It's not the kind of thing to be taken lightly.
One question though, since he's under 21, does any amount of alcohol in his system mean a DUI? I.e. could his BAC have been .001 as opposed to over the legal limit?

I don't know the TX laws
but in CA, the law was 0.08 if you are over 21 and 0.05 if you are under 21.
A Trojan can only be used once. A Bruin is forever.
Could it be
that this is why Melton couldn't get through holes in the line to save his life? I know I've been drunk enough that I couldn't put my feet in my shoes so...
Bad Attitude
Do you think the cops had a hard time getting the cuffs on over Henry's "Attitude Is Everything" wristband? Maybe Hank the Tank wasn't such a good nickname afterall.
Miss ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) would also like to remind all college students that while beer may "taste so good when it touches your lips," it doesn't feel so good when the cop is frisking your hips.
Write that down.
It's official

Melton was pulled over in the popular Sixth Street entertainment district about 2:30 a.m. after officers noticed his truck driving in an unsafe manner, Austin police spokeswoman Laura Albrecht said.
When reached for comment...
Henry told reporters he was simply trying to raise the team's overall BAC level in accordance with new NCAA mandates...apparently he got GPA and BAC confused due to a miscaclulation in his algorithmic theory on inverse proportions.
Miss Microbrew would also like to remind you that if you can't at least blow your GPA, you're either studying too hard or not drinking hard enough.

Now I get it.

wait...
he was driving drunk near 6th street at 2:30 am on a thursday night? that's as retarded as going airborne to get over the goal line when you weigh 240 pounds...
seriously, we've all done stupid things. lord knows i've driven when i shouldn't have a couple of times, but seriously henry, we need to talk. you're driving drunk around SIXTH STREET at 2:30am on a thursday night? 6th street? they have more cops hanging around around 6th street than you have botched 4th down conversions. and you're young, black, and male, which is 3 strikes (or stutter steps in the backfield if we want to stick with your poor football play) already on you before you're even doing anything wrong. it isn't fair, but you're going get stopped more often than some other people are in that situation. and you're relatively famous for a 3rd string college football player, so it's going to be public.
we're just asking you show some sense, henry. on and off the field.
Billyzane just...
...blew Melton up like a cornerback coming up to stuff the run on a Melton sweep.
"Botched 4th Down conversions." HA HA HA.
The E-bus...
...only runs during the school year.
They didnt even run it for New Year's Eve or Graduation Week-end...
He's still an idiot.
I think it's required of UT athletes
From the Statesman:
It was not immediately clear if Melton has an attorney.
For some reason, I think his attorney is gonna be this guy.
