Tommy Blake leaves TCU
Apparently after multiple practices Tommy Blake up and left school and went back home to Arkansas. The article mentions what may be Blake shying away or being afraid of the spotlight now upon him. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this.

Thanks for the link, but there are 2 things that need to be corrected.
- It's not Arkansas, it's Aransas Pass....which is located next to Corpus.
- He isn't officially out of school or off the team. But it definitely isn't looking very promising right now for TCU to get him back.
I agree with you & cortexas. This is one of the stranger things (read: biggest freak-out) I've seen in NCAA-FB. Here's hoping that he recovers from this mental breakdown, because this kid can really play ball.
Correction
Thanks for pointing out Aransas Pass I kind of glossed over it and thought I read Arkansas.

No problem
I wasn't trying to be an ass....just help out. Thanks again for posting this story. It's one that I likely would not have seen otherwise....which is one of the reasons I come to BON everyday.
While I won't be crying if TCU doesn't have their top D-lineman going after Colt in 3 weeks, I still would never wish anything like this on the guy.....unless it was Kellen Heard....although that wish would also include his testicles spontaneously combusting while he just happens to be pumping gas into his car.
Anyway, this is just much to reminiscent of Ricky having a mental breakdown in the NFL. But I highly doubt Tommy is on tour with Lenny right now, studying horticulture.
Well...
Our new offensive line just had some pressure let off? Maybe?
WTF?!!
kinda cold way to look at this
seems like he's just a normal person that plays football well
and the pressure got to him
i'm a horns fan ... and don't know too much about anything about this guy
but i wish him the best
glad he's taking time away to be around people that could help
and not just taking the chance of breaking himself

I agree
I am as big a Texas fan as anybody but I hope he is okay--from reading, sounds like a good kid. I hope he makes it back and is successful but, of course, is not TOO successful against us. Let's face it, if we have difficulty with TCU with or without this guy on the field, we are going to have many other problems throughout the year to worry about.
Hope the kids okay...
I'll never look a gift horse in the mouth when it comes to helping my 'Horns win a game, but I also hate it when something like this happens and affords an opposing team's fans a ready excuse.
Whatever happens, first, as a person, I hope everything's okay. Second, as a player, if he can't handle the pressure, then he needs to walk away. Get the degree and use it!
I dunno if I could handle the type of scrutiny these guys endure.

In a lot of ways...
...this reminds me of Ricky and his "social disorder".
Dave Campbell's Texas Football
i'm getting old and all, but given his cover shot on DCTF, the kid looks to be a nice genuine guy.

Well before this..
development, I was calling for Baylor to beat TCU in their season opener. Without his game, it only gets easier.
After we put it on 'em, the big bad BCS-busters will be 0-2 wondering what happened.
or would it help
our cause for TCU to have only 1 loss(Texas)......
I really don't think Baylor has a chance at a good record.
Last season...
it was just a 10-point game. TCU lost half their offense, including their starting QB and RB. Baylor continues to improve their talent level and Morriss has always been known as a good teacher that can develop his players.
Don't forget they scored 31 points on our Longhorns and their players will know a lot more of their spread offense this season. Baylor scored 21 points on an Aggie defense that held us to just 7!
David Gettis is a 6'4" stud who was the nation's fastest prep in 2005 when he ran a 45.84 in the 400. He really can stretch a defense!
In a season opener, I really like Baylor's chances!
baylor lost it's QB
did you see what happened to baylor after Shawn Bell got injured last year? they totally tanked. now he graduated. Who's the qb of the "air bear" offense?
This is interesting
Usually the attention that young athletes have to cope with is framed by the media as a violation of recruiting or amateur-athletic regulations, but rarely is it covered from the perspective of the athletes.
If the rules won't prevent recruiters and agents from smothering a kid, maybe a few high-profile "freak-outs" will get them to back off.

get over it....it was one play...he was ejected, so he's been punished already.
I'm amazed at you people who continue to whine about Kellen Heard, but are completely silent about Robert Killebrew, a guy who has mastered the art of the late hit. I don't hear any of you calling out your linemen for the chop block earlier in the game?
It seems you guys are okay with dirty play and late hits, unless one happens against your team, even if it was a late block on an INT return.
In any case....hope Blake gets it together and comes back to finish his degree, at least. Part of being a man is learning to handle pressure, not letting pressure handle you.
LOL
Did you really compare Killebrew's hit to that Kellen Heard's hit? You are too funny dude. TOO funny.
where kill do anything as capricious as heard?
link to Kill's capricious hits?
...and even kelson's hit on the CU QB wasn't in the same fucking ballpark as heard's cheapshot.
but hey, he accomplished what he was supposed to - he got half-assed snead into the game.

ah, the conspiracy theorists now come out
I'm sure you've heard there was a bounty on McCoy, too, no doubt funded by Dinesh Patel and the missing cook, right?
Honestly, I don't remember much about Kelson's hit being flagged b/c it was late; I thought it was helmet-to-helmet, which was why it was flagged?
I don't have that game on tape, so someone can review it and correct me.
Yeah, my bad...
Apparently, some out there can't pick up on trash-talking humor. Well that, and the fact that it would be really funny if his balls caught on fire.
Anyway, I apologize to folks like BTBD for re-opening this can of worms.
Especially
when you are spending time on your rival's blog site.
I don't travel to B-CS and expect that all the "saw em off" stickers will be removed.
killebrew/heard
I saw both of those games and have seen both hits, and they are not even close in comparison. Killebrew made a dumb mistake. Heard made a dirty play and he had every intention of hurting Colt. There was no need to throw a block like that, he wanted to hurt Colt. It might have won alot of points out in Aggieland, but Texas will remember, and I hope it provides fuel for the Horns to whip the Ags this year, and it wouldn't hurt my feelings if someone decleats that SOB!

RE: Good for him
Agreed, and nice update to the story jc25. I really didn't want to see the kid throw away his chance at a great future, because of some extreme 'butterflies'.
But with that said, I have no problem at all with Blake getting jittery on Sept 8th....for say, about 3 hours that evening.
