EDSBS LIVE Preps For Game Week

Our first Tuesday of a game week! Ring your bells, sound the alarms, fire a gun in the air - anything to let those around you know that football is back.

For our part, the format of the radio show changes, starting tonight. Instead of four questions about the culture of college football, we pare down to three questions about the games themselves.

Also, this will be our last Tuesday night broadcast. Beginning this week, EDSBS LIVE moves to Sunday nights at 6:00 PM CT. We're also expanding a half hour to make it a full two-hours of college football talk. Sunday night shows will give us a chance for the first reaction to all the weekend's action.

Hot damn I'm excited. How excited? Sorta like this:

What: EDSBS Live! online radio. Season Opener Edition

Where: At NowLive, where you can chat with each other and the show hosts throughout the broadcast in the online forum (which has gotten damn lively). To phone in to the show, just call (310) 984-7600.

Who: Out special guest tonight is SI.com's Austin Murphy, whose book Saturday Rules comes out this week.

FourThree Questions: As always, our fourthree questions for the night.

1. What game are you watching this Saturday?

Obviously I'll be watching Texas-Arkansas State, and I'll be attending Georgia Tech-Notre Dame, but the game I'm thrilled to check out will be Tennessee's trip west to play Cal. The Volunteers crushed the Golden Bears last season, but many expect Cal and Nate Longshore to be the Pac 10's second best team. Can they avenge last season's embarrassing defeat? And what of Tennessee? They're definitely down, but are they out? How long can Fulmer hang on if the wheels continue to slide off? This game is huge for both teams.

2. Upset watch - who you got?

The game I'll really be watching closely is Oklahoma State at Georgia. Terrific season opening matchup which should tell us a lot about two teams with considerable upside and significant weaknesses. The Cowboys enter the season unranked, but Georgia's slotted in at #13 in the Coaches Poll. Winning in Athens ins't easy, but I like Oklahoma State's chances to put up some points. The defense is another story...

3. Game of intrigue?

Auburn-Kansas State. I'm not a believer in the Tigers, and Kansas State should be better than they were a season ago. But it's honestly hard to figure what to expect from either team right now. This is a nice non-con season opener to test both squads.

See you tonight at 6:30.
