Morning Coffee Suddenly Wants To Go To The Pool

The Dallas Morning News' Kevin Sherrington writes tha Mack Brown isn't handling this arrest wave properly, citing his remarks at a Monday press conference as evidence that he's mismanaging this perception problem.

Sherrington's take is a fair one. He doesn't suggest Brown isn't being proactive with discipline; rather, he notes that Brown's program is quickly developing an image problem - starting at the top:

But when you've had seven brushes with the law in less than four months – Robert Joseph got picked up twice – severity isn't the issue.

Perception is, and that's what Brown doesn't get, even as three players return from suspensions this week.

While Brown has been busy trying to point out how harsh his penalties for offenders have been, the arrests have continued. And reporters continue to say Mack Brown sounds defensive.

For a man known as being the master CEO, Mack Brown sure has taken some lumps of late.

Joseph Duarte notes that though many of Colt McCoy's numbers are up from a year ago, he's thrown two fewer touchdowns and four more interceptions through three games. McCoy himself is none to pleased, saying that he's "not playing at the standard that [he] needs to be."

Duarte gives McCoy a grade of 'B' so far for the year, which sounds about right.

The Longhorns reinstated three suspended players this week, all of whom will be available Saturday. Wide receiver Billy Pittman (improper use of a friend's car), defensive end Henry Melton (DUI), and linebacker Sergio Kindle (DUI) are all back with the team in full capacity.

Oh dear Lord... look at the size of these running lanes. Color me jealous.

And last, but by no means least, enjoy this photo of the Texas Tech swim team, dug up by our friends at Roll Bama Roll. Huzzah!

i always thought...

...that the poster was heavilly photoshopped.  look how blurry and rubber-stamp-tool consistent the double-Ts and white "TECH"s are.

but either way, pure hotness.  what tech lacks in locale, they have always made up for in hot texas ass.

bleeding orange up in nyc. get a rope.

Not to mention
that the double-t appears on inconsistent sides of the double-d's.

Still, it is a great poster.

Not to mention

that Tech hasn't had a swim team compete in the Big 12.

I agree that it is still an amazing poster.

LOL

I was looking at that poster and thinking most of those girls look like the only time they jumped into a pool was when they were pushed... hopefully wearing white tshirts.

re: Running Lanes

Thanks for the link to those pictures.  That is exactly what I was talking about a few days ago.  Literally, you could drive a truck through these lanes.

Are those running lanes...

regulation size? There ought to be rules against that, unless of course we can get some like that too.

And yet another arrest

James Henry was arrested last night according to local Austin news station KXAN.

"Henry is in jail on two charges: obstruction or retaliation and tampering or fabricating physical evidence. Both offenses are third-degree felonies.
He is being held on a $30,000 bond."

Story

Bucky and Erin on AM 1300 have said that early reports indicate this might be in connection with the Andre Jones arrest.

Alright

This is getting ridiculous.

They need to start punishing the rest of the team with extra workouts, cleaning the stadium, ect. to try and get the team to better police themselves.

This isn't good press

I don't care what they say about any press is good press - this kind of press is terrible for the University and all of the sports programs, not just football.

As an alumni living out of state I check the local news for UT updates. Sadly, what I see most are the arrest notices.  These guys need to remember what it really means when they say the Eyes of Texas are upon you.

Dallas Morning News

"Texas redshirt freshman running back James Henry has been charged with felony counts of retaliation and tampering with physical evidence in connection with the alleged armed robbery involving former Longhorns football player Robert Joseph in July, according to Austin police."

It seems he disposed of the stolen goods.

Brantley

Thank God that none of the current UT QBs are arrogant enough to set-up their own website.  At least Brantley posts the news of his losing the back-up job at UF.
