Open GameDay Thread: #12 Texas at Oklahoma State
Horns try to steal their first conference road win of the year. It won't be easy at Gallagher-Iba, though. Texas has lost four of the last five in Stillwater, including 105-103 in triple OT last season.
Horns are three point road favorites and Pomeroy predicts a 74-70 Texas victory. Hook 'em.

Guess what I'm doing...
on a holidy, in the evening, on a gameday??
At work! Wooo!
So comments are appreciated. I have the DVR set to record the game, but I'll be following here and on the radio.
would really like to prove pomeroy wrong
on his aggy prediction, despite it being an away game.
Especially after they've dropped 2 games by 15+.
I should just be content to focus on tonight.
Until then...
this 'Cuse/GTown game is exciting. As I type, 58-55 Orange with 2:21 left.
Quse Came to Play
60-60 40 sec left.
Very good game so far by both teams. Gotta love Big Monday.
great D against flynn
hopefully the Hoyas can hit a game-winner so that we don't get delayed for our start
why is there always an OT
before we play.

cant remember
they might just delay the start of our game. OR keep us here and put a little box in the corner with our score. Although this game is a fun one to watch right now.
i love talking to myself
now they have the little score box in the corner of espn.
5-0 horns 2 minutes into the game
DJ fouled about four times on that drive
Chapman lost the ball and gave up a layup on the other end and Gary looks uncomfortable on offense. Not a good start for the freshmen.
James: he's a man.
Nice finish.
Time to rebound. Its amazing how we can make teams look like rebounding giants.
we're in it
despite the freshmen. not looking good. we need production, not fouls and missed shots.
JD
It's gonna be really tough finding a similar replacement for him next year, unless Barnes starts recruiting in Gregory Gym
i know how JD feels
I ruled the playground during practice, but come gametime, I sucked. But I didnt tell the girls that last part
DJ
Great PG is a blessing!
refs ...
... do not like their whistles. on both ends.
Great half court set
AJ on the curl and makes a PASS. WOW.
Texas starting to limit second looks and forcing tough shots with the zone. Looking better.
well
ever since OSU went up 20-14, we have played really well. Rebounding needs improvement, but D is better and we're making good passes down low for close opportunities
What the fuck did
we talk about in the timeout?
Let him run the length of the floor, then foul him as he shoots?
Very good half, 41-31
OSU started with good energy as they attacked the offensive glass and worked well to get good looks in their half court. Since the beginning, it has been all Texas. The Horns doing a much better job with their half court defense and on the defensive glass. Keep it up.
DJ has played really well, finding Connor in the post and AJ on the curls. Damion James was big on both ends.
Connor throws deep to Abrams..
complete! too bad he couldn't hit that miracle shot for the TD
Sutton
Looks nervous talking to a chick...and it's Holly Rowe.
Lovely studio show
Digger Phelps acting utterly disgusted that he's having to argue with a woman about college hoops.
Harris shoots a weird free throw
Great D!
Forced the error with the pressure!
Nice job to stay with that one....
... Mason!
They're doing the soulja boy...
Ahhhhhhhh BOOOOOO!
overreaction by the crowd
as expected. every whistle they boo something. even when the whistle doesnt blow, they boo. Terrible.
Um...
... Can we quit being terrible now, please?
2 pts in 5 min for Texas
Missed threes by Connor, DJ gets his shot blocked, missed three by AJ, turnover by DJ, turnover by James.
Ugly offensive basketball coming out of halftime.
Don't pat the crowd on the back...
... douchebag. Do you have memory for sound?
AJ 0-4 from 3
We need to deal with this run and settle down a bit. Some silly passing to start the half.
BLAH
I'm already angry that I missed the 1st half because of dinner with some floormates.
Then I turn on the TV and we're up by 12, and then a huge meltdown starts, and it's continuing as a type this.
But we're playing @ Oklahoma State. These games are never supposed to be easy.
DJ for three. Bingo!

Horns back
to standing around on offense. Move the ball please. AJ on the baseline only works once in awhile.
Get the ball inside
We were trying to get it into Atch with little success, but maybe we can get the G-unit some good touches down low. He needs a confidence builder lay-up or dunk.
Don't forget
OSU is undefeated at home. There's a reason for that.
I know you guys said a W should be expected, but these games @ OSU are so spontaneous.

Anybody else
think we are getting manhandled this half, although as I type this they start to call the fouls.
Refs
have called a bunch of touch fouls. They could've easily let those calls go too.
by goingforthecorner on Jan 21, 2008 9:35 PM CST up reply actions
carry by DJ?
whatever. I'm kinda surprised he doesn't get called for it more, actually, when he makes his first quick step to drive
Augustin's shooting
3-4 FG outside the arc.
1-6 FG inside the arc. Where's the Nash-esque mid-range game that he used so well in the St. Mary's game?

10 pts this half in 10 min
61 points isn't going to do it. Get some touches for Johnson and Connor on the blocks, hit James at the elbow and let DJ and AJ knock down some threes. Come on Horns.
this crowd..
is annoying
Wish
our crowd was as intense (except for the whole classless and throwing objects on floor part)
by goingforthecorner on Jan 21, 2008 9:39 PM CST up reply actions
Abrams... stop
Now he's 0-5 from beyond the arc. Total failure of his offensive role. We need to stop running plays like that. He's consistently missed shots off the dribble.
by goingforthecorner on Jan 21, 2008 9:39 PM CST reply actions
Wow
now Abrams can't even make a spot up open three. Now 0-6 from arc.
Thanks to Mason for picking up the trash.

boo fucking what?
what are they booing?
Not gonna lie
I LOL'ed at Connor's wild miss off the edge of the backboard.
Great defensive possession by Texas.

Great executed play.
Probably the easiest shot DJ has had this game. Amazing what ball movement can do.
Jesus OSU fans, stop having orgasms after every non-call.

commercial
i can breathe again. OSU's offense has gone cold, but we havent done much with it. At least we have the lead
Well, 57-54
Up three points with just under four minutes left. That is about all we could have expected. Winning time now.
Time to move the ball on offense and knock down FTs. Time to contest shots and block out.
Defense seems better last few minutes.
That's a key sign.
Off topic
Did anyone hear that JamesOn Curry (former OSU player) was arrested for public urination? I heard this like a week ago.
by goingforthecorner on Jan 21, 2008 9:52 PM CST reply actions
LOL James owned that shot
and great defense. Thanks Barnes for going zone.
by goingforthecorner on Jan 21, 2008 9:53 PM CST reply actions
Mason at the point
DJ getting open, then driving effectively. Where has this been? More often I say!
OSU
seeing that "DJ is Texas' offense", why aren't they doubling him? Seriously. That's what I'd do. AJ is bricking everything. Doesn't matter if he's open.

Andrew -What Do You Think?
Looks like DJ is more critical to this team than KD was last year. At least KD had DJ.
Yes
that's the nature of being a PG. PG is the most critical position in college basketball. It's basically the QB.
by goingforthecorner on Jan 21, 2008 9:56 PM CST up reply actions
Tough to say.
KD had DJ but DJ has James. Difference is James can't dominate games becuase he plays forward and can't control the ball every possession.
Not sure if I can answer your question. I'll say this, take KD off last year's team and they don't make the tourney. This year's team couldn't make the tourney without DJ either though.
Abrams... what happened?
Now 0-7 from three.
Please get a basket.

I am SO surprised
they didnt call a tick tack foul there. Great D.
by roywilliamsisgod on Jan 21, 2008 9:57 PM CST reply actions
D
ever since OSU hit the 50 mark, our D has stepped up HUGE forcing turnovers and bad shots.
AJ needs to take a step inside the line
He is killing me, going 0-7 from 3. Generally I say let him keep shooting, but not anymore. I know there keying on Damion, but we should get him the ball.
What happened to 10' jumpers?
Gone the way of the buffalo.
Wild shot by DJ
and unlike the UCLA game, James wasn't there to flush it in.
by goingforthecorner on Jan 21, 2008 9:59 PM CST reply actions
Wow
that could've easily been a 5 sec violation.
MAKE YOUR FTS PLEASE
by goingforthecorner on Jan 21, 2008 10:02 PM CST reply actions
Clutch baby!
Not yet, but up three, considering fouling on purpose under 3 seconds.
by goingforthecorner on Jan 21, 2008 10:03 PM CST reply actions
WOW
We gave up a WIDE OPEN three. All luck that he missed it.
And then James fumbles the rebound but DJ corrals it.
ONE MORE FT!
by goingforthecorner on Jan 21, 2008 10:04 PM CST reply actions
MVP goes to DJ
I love making clutch FTs.
Hey, this game wasn't so chaotic after all.
2nd consecutive 2pt victory. I'll take it!
by goingforthecorner on Jan 21, 2008 10:06 PM CST reply actions
We'll take it
Important win. Style points don't matter at this point. Need W's, and we got two in a row after the Missouri loss.
I lost my bet on that last 3 pointer by that OK S
Guy........
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Ain't no pretty games in Stillwater.
Any win is a great win there. Don't know what it is but it is always tougher than expected.
This is gonna be a hell of a dog fight
much more than I expected 10 games into the season. Depth is going to make a hell of a difference; we don't have hardly any points coming off the bench.
Good game
physical game to the point I think the reffs could not keep up.
Mason's play tonight was great, as well as Connor, except the misses in the second half, but that was everyone.
AJ needs to get his shot back, but he had some great passes and was able to convert some important points in the paint.
I'm wondering if he is getting tired.
I know Rick has to be pounding on AJ's defensive play and when he gets a lot of minutes, his legs have to be tired in the late going. Don't know if there is an easy answer this deep into the season.
Every year teams start off like shot out of a rocket - and then the tiredness sets in and the hot edge dies away.
Big key of the game
15-20 (75%) from the free throw line. That's more like it. No way DJ should be a 77% FT shooter.
