whew!
I was paranoid all day as the blogs went back and forth. A huge move, I couldn't be happier with this or the other aggressive moves we've seen the last month. I think that's the key word, since aggressiveness was not something we saw much of in '07. Long live '08.

Yeah!
Now that's a SMASHING hire!!!
I am not worried about the offense at all now... with this hire all we need to do is score a touchdown and a field goal and we'll win... no one will be able to score on us.
I know I am exaggerating :-)... but there ain't no way the Aggies run up the score to 38 on us next year baby, not with this guy around.
I am pumped. This is GREAT news.

Can we please....
....give him a "Jimbo Fisher" succession contract, if things go well in 2008??
This guy is an absolute stud! For the life of me, I don't understand how he was still available. I had fully expected him to get a HC'ing job at Arkansas, GaTech or W.Virginia. His youth, drive, expectation of excellance, strong sense of urgency and recruiting ability make him the perfect hire. We couldn't ask for anyone better to succeed Mack Brown.

I'm with you
He was a finalist for the Arkansas job, and I think he had the opportunity to take the Southern Miss job, too, but realized he would do better in the near future. I'd love him to be HC-in-training until Deloss retires, at which time Mack takes over that gig and Muschamp of course becomes HC.
In any case, word is that it's a 3 year deal worth like 1.6M, and the fact that there's rumblings about this being a possible succesion deal make me happy to know there's long term thinking involved.

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
MotherFuckin siren indeed!! PB could probably arrange this on the next EDSBS Live.
Maybe this is a false dawn but I am absolutely thrilled. When I think of how depressed we were around Thanksgving we really have a lot be thankful for now.

Hopefully this also means
we wont see "Texas" on the Fulmer Cup leaderboard anymore.

Uhm, PB - are we a football school again?
Always pending a Final Four appearance of course.

Excellent
I could not be happier about Muschamp. Definitely a step in the right direction by Mack. Now, if he can just do away with Davis, I think we can return to football school status, and possibly return this school to elite status. A change on defense won't do it alone. There was a great discussion before the ASU game about the difference between a good or great program, and an elite program. It appears that Mack is trying to make that jump with Muchamp, but I still question whether or not it will happen with Davis at the offensive helm.

I am very Happy
About the hire, about akina's role. I am also interested to see who Auburn will hire as OUR next DC.

Great Hire
I am thrilled by the hire. Muschamp will bring exactly what we need on defense: intensity and accountability. There is no doubt in my mind that the best players will see the field next year.
Second, to me, this is an amazing hire by Mack. Kudos. Muschamp is far from the typical hire, an older, experienced coach would will not rock the boat. I can't wait to see Muschamp's defenses against Missouri, OU, A&M, Tech, etc. next season.
Last, there were scary rumors of a "Jumbo Fisher" deal being offered to Muschamp. I firmly believe that Mack only has about two or three more years but it seems a little hasty to promise the keys to the Ferrari to a 36 year old DC who has never coached a down in Austin. Glad to hear that these rumors were incorrect.
