A few things to read during your Monday breaks from work:
Card Chronicle has his Fab 50 basketball players for January, placing DJ Augustin at #4 and AJ Abrams at #49. I noted in his comment thread that I thought AJ probably didn't belong there (given his defense), but that Damion James deserved a close look. Have a look-see at the list yourself.
Looking for the best coverage of tonight's national title game between LSU and Ohio State? Start with Sunday Morning Quarterback, and work outwards to the various team sites: And The Valley Shook, Around The Oval, and Buckeye Commentary.
Our resident stat geeks are gonna want to look carefully at this excellent post over at Rock M Nation, in which the author has plotted all the play-by-play data of the last two seasons in the Big 12 and sorted through the data.

I agree about James,
As far as AJ goes, I think about D Gib in terms of his NBA potential. Its a given that AJ is not a defensive all-star and D Gib might be, but he has legitimate NBA range with his quick release. His ball handling will continue to improve and AJ has showed some signs of being able to pass. D Gib had a nice rookie season and is having a good start to his sophmore year.
I feel like there have been similar critiques of the two.

Hate to disagree
But Gibson was 6-2 and an outstanding defender. Abrams is 5-10 and a lousy one. I can't see Abrams in the NBA. But he's a good college player and, when you think about it, has a chance to finish his career with the most points in UT history.

yeah
I realize that he is tiny compared to DGib and the D is lacking. I still think its possible.
He has improved considerably this year and should return next year to share PG responsibilities with Balbay. If he keeps working like he did over last off season he may have a shot. Wishful thinking maybe, but when he is on he has range and then some.

Got to go with PB
to be 5-10 and play in the NBA you need to have better D skills and be able to create your own space better than he can.
PB don't sell AJ short, how about most 3s in DI history. He had 120 last year, 43 his freshman year, and 45 so far this year. Redick had 457, so he is going to need to step it up, but I think he can do it. A couple of deep runs in the tourney wouldn't hurt either.
