Is that 9 EST?
My God, Peter. Look at what you've become...
Wells has a reason...
Wells always has a reason.
Online viewing
For those who don't have ESPN360,
It appears that the game will be streamed on:
You may have to download the free player first, but it only takes a few seconds. Some games are IE-only, but we really won't know that until game time.
Watching the Nova/Gtown game
I really like listening to Jay Bilas. I really dont like the over the top announcers that try to make every play sound like it is the greatest play in NCAA history...He's calm and calls it like he sees it. I really like that.
Gametime
About to head down to the mothity fuckin drum!!!!!!
I am trying to remain confident until at least tip off. I think we can, I think we can, I think we can.
Prediction:
Horns going away 86
Blue Jay Sparrow Hawks 78
Hook 'em
Identity
It seems Texas has lost some of it's identity from the beginning of the year. With it went the swagger. DJ doesn't look like the kid that went toe to toe with TJ Ford over the summer. All too often resorting to fade aways and tossing up shots. Conner looks like a stiff breeze will make him wet his shorts. Can we rely on AJ's shooting to keep us in games. Most importantly, DEFENSE. The horns need to look it up. Try to sustain a defense for an entire game. Most of all, be bad asses, know you are The University of Texas!

OK, here's my theory
If I make a big deal out of a game, we always lose.
See:
Waited in line all morning to get wristband tickets for tOSU game: 24-7 We suck.
Spring for tickets to Aggie game last year at DKR, plus drive half way across Texas the night after Thanksgiving: 12-7 We suck.
Go to Dallas: 28-21 We suck.
Go to KSU game, meet Vince Young, get VY to autograph my lucky shirt that I left at home the weekend we lost to KSU last year and I blamed myself for it forever, wear said freshly-autographed shirt straight to the game to clinch certain victory and exact revenge: A billion to like 10 We suck a lot.
Get tickets to Aggie game and actually drive to that shithole town with my brother to get at least some closure on the season before clinching certain BCS berth and being total badasses: 38-30 We suck disaster.
So, I thought to myself: I can go wait in line all day and skip class and not do my homework to see this game, but that will ensure certain defeat. Thus, the only rational decision is to abstain from total glory and endure the game from home. This, certainly will spur the 'Horns to victory over the hated blue-birds.
Right?
Right...?
And yes...
... It is extremely frustrating to be your own team's kryptonite. Maddening, in fact.
Right!
and we appreciate your sacrifice.
I have found that my superstitions work about half the time...
Yeah, and...
... this way I'll at least have my homework done. Good choice... right?
Right...?
I used to feel like you
Then me and my friend Clay went to every football game the Horns played in 2005 plus that one we played in early January of 2006 and that pretty much cured it.
Now if I could just get rid of the clap, it'd be smooth sailing.
Oh, I'm still going to all the football games.
Sorry guys, but I am.
Great choice, Horn Brain, simply great.
We need some self-possessed mofo to stand up for our superstitions and so far as I can tell, you're it.
Congratulations. And when we win, I'll heap even more kudos your way for such prodigious personal insight and perseverance.
Plus a little check mark for the homework.
What do you know, ESPN lady?
You're a GIRL!
<<a>/dhab>
Bilas just said
"You're gonna get backdoored, and it's gonna hurt!"
I always feel best when surrounded by optimists
and my glass stays at least half full all the time.
Is he gonna start for Mason?
Oh, what does it mean, Swami?
Is this the kiss of KSU death or the golden touch of success and brilliant play? Does the best laid theory of Horn Brain come crashing down due to a propitious entry of our hero? Did Wells just run out of reason? Will he cheerlead the crowd into a full throated and undeniable victory?
I'm not there...
... So we're still gonna totally own.
You bet on the Patriots didn't you?
I'm thinking of number between 1 and 3...
What is it?
2
and it's how many field goals we make in the first 5 minutes of the second half.
Write it down.
Crystal Ball Says ...
2 ... it's the only number actually between numbers one and three. :P
by CyHorn770 on Feb 11, 2008 7:56 PM CST up reply actions
I was hoping...
... you wouldn't do this.
There are an infinite number of numbers between 1 and 3. 2.5 anyone? e? 54b didn't specify only integers.
Hmm...
I'm sure PB would go nuts on you for this one...
"But it was implied that you can't use that blatant loophole in the contract!"
The lawyer gods laugh at you.
Undefineable Numbers
I believe there all multiple math theories that imply the existence of numbers that cannot be expressed with, well, numbers.
Wrong
The answer is zero...
Horns 103, Jayhawks 102 3OT
Huh?
Too much beer before the game. But ... I hope you're right!
by CyHorn770 on Feb 11, 2008 8:03 PM CST up reply actions
Of course, it was a lawyer trick.
But you still got some bites.
You're a bastard
You must be using douchebag enhancers.
VY confirmed at the game
Picture box made it so.
FUCK
PLEASE don't go into OT Nova/Gtown game.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:10 PM CST reply actions
Unbelievably shitty call
to end the Villanova game. This will be remembered for awhile.
Oh well, at least we get to see the game.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:17 PM CST reply actions
That call
Was absolutely atrocious. Comical.
by DisplacedTexan on Feb 11, 2008 8:19 PM CST up reply actions
DAmn, second foul on James.
Jackson hits FTs, Gary Johnson in: 9-7.
Texas 15, Kansas 12.
WE may hit the 100 marks with this pace.
Thank God
for ticky-tack fouls on Nova with .1 seconds on the clock.
Geez.
Not even a ticky tack call
It was a complete PHANTOM call.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:21 PM CST up reply actions
Oh GOD, no!
Holly Rowe?!?!? GOD NO!
HUGE
I was worried about Johnson being nervous about this game. Great strong move to the bucket
Johnson scores, 17-12.
DAmn, no block out. 17-14. Wake up, D.
NO WAY THATS A CHARGE...
WingMan
Looks lost out there. I know we need long bodies for Kansas, but we need him to get into the pace of the game.
Atchley is like two Abrams!
In a trench coat!
As long as
Atchley can keep that up...some crappy officiating so far too...
Wow Connor showed up!
Too bad James is in foul trouble.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:26 PM CST reply actions
Shot selection
the AJ airball led to the last transition layup. Take better shots.
I think this game is going too fast for our liking. Slow it down a bit.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:28 PM CST up reply actions
But it is creating a lot of space
for our shooters.
Agreed
Biggest worry so far. We're not getting back fast enough and we're not boxing out well. Kansas moves and crashes the board so hard. Need to be more aware.
by DisplacedTexan on Feb 11, 2008 8:29 PM CST up reply actions
That was a big time move by GJ
almost and and one. Faked out Kahn.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:27 PM CST reply actions
Like the adjustment so far
To let Mason run the point and run a little offense.
Atchley being incredibly awesome helps too.
Not to mention them missing layup after layup.
If they put Holly in that Amp ad
I'd like it better.
Holly makes me want a Shiner
On her eye or in my mouth, either way.
Ugh... total fail right there. I'm posting this to show the stuff I usually delete.
Why don't you just sit down for a few, champ?
by DisplacedTexan on Feb 11, 2008 8:31 PM CST up reply actions
Hey...
I'm not as thunk as you drink I am...
what was that on Atchley?
Illegal playing of basketball?
He had his hands up
totally illegal...cmon Atch!
We're playing with them
the crowd is into it.
This is good.
It's like watching Tech vs. Tech
In football.
Sensational D play by AJ
that's right. I said it.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:33 PM CST reply actions
Watch Collins following AJ
He has a hold of his shorts the entire time...
THink they're trying to wear us out
considering our OT game?
Didnt they play OT against Baylor the same day?
I think so, but they run more than Horns do.
I personally like this type of game but they're gonna be tired puppies in fourth.
Loving AJ right now...
... that is all.
Look at the bright side
10 minutes into the game, and we're not getting our asses kicked! Moral victory.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:36 PM CST reply actions
Unreal
he is so freakin quick gettin that shot off...
More AJ
AJ and Connor's threes keeping us in the game.
Arthur is destroying us.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:37 PM CST reply actions
Agree. Just not necessary at this point.
Go in to the big men or kick out.
29-26 Texas, under-8
This is really, really high quality basketball. Both teams playing terrific.
So much better
Than the Georgetown Villanova game. That was brutal to watch.
We smash with offense!
No need to defend! They will miss shots, and that will be the difference in the game!
so far so good...
Another really off day from DJ
0-6 shooting and 0-2 from three.
Please either stop shooting or take better shots.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:41 PM CST reply actions
I hope the young guys learn
from the rim play by Kansas.
If DJ's shot is off
we should probably stop playing Mason at the point. Play DJ at the point and let him get others involved like in the Baylor game.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:44 PM CST reply actions
That would be very smart at this point.
That the load off.
Ross is the Boss!
Ok, we play defense for him.
DOn't love this lineup
Rick's buying minutes here, but we're stuck on offense a bit with this group
35-33 KU, under-4
I'd like to see Rick go back to our best lineup for the remainder of the half here.
I really like...
... not being destroyed by Kansas so far.
Let's continue this.
High five!
Most bittersweet decision I've ever made. We'll see if we win.
What's wrong with DJ?
His shot's been way off. At least he's getting some FTs this time.
Maybe he's exhausted.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:48 PM CST reply actions
I think
part of it is shot selection...
He's got shooter's block.
He's thinking instead of just playing intuitively. Or something like that.
The last floater he missed
That was a good shot but missed it. He's made that shot all year.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:51 PM CST up reply actions
Something
Something about Arthur gets my blood pumping
by HornsSoccer11 on Feb 11, 2008 8:51 PM CST reply actions
Give DJ the point...
... and tell him not to shoot unless it's off a pass or there's 5 or less seconds on the clock.
Like two AJs...
Six men on the court!
Abusing us.
I can't tell what's going on. are people not rotating? just losing their man? It's getting really frustrating.
by DisplacedTexan on Feb 11, 2008 8:54 PM CST up reply actions
Crowd energy disappearing
VY QUICK! Stand up or something!
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:54 PM CST reply actions
THERE IT IS
DJ penetrates, hits Johnson, and a forceful take to the rim. THAT is what we need
What's up with Johnson's broken nose?
When did this happen?
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:55 PM CST reply actions
His nose is a little more than bleeding
Broken, dislocated.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:57 PM CST up reply actions
Jesus, Gary.
Wipe yourself off, man.
You bleedin'.
I'm getting this bad feeling
We're only down 3, but it feels like KU is ready to explode on us. They are so athletic. They're trying to run us out of the gym, yet they're big enough to out-muscle us on the boards.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 8:58 PM CST reply actions
Oddly enough
I have somewhat the opposite feeling. Kansas has been playing really well and we're only down 4. Texas is playing well, but there is a lot of room to pick it up.
by DisplacedTexan on Feb 11, 2008 9:00 PM CST up reply actions
I've got that same feeling
The first three minutes of the second half could decide how this game ends...
by Texas Sized BS on Feb 11, 2008 9:01 PM CST up reply actions
Two white guys on the floor
One too many.
by DisplacedTexan on Feb 11, 2008 9:00 PM CST up reply actions
This isn't the first pass he's missed.
He's gonna hear more about that.
Ugh... Chapman
and to the bench he goes.
DJ good job penetrating and passing, but the big guy is lost. WTF
I hope GJ can play. He is in some serious pain.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 9:00 PM CST reply actions
Yeah, gftc.
That's what it is. We may go quietly into the night, but we won't go quietly into the night! Whatever!
remember we get damion james back in the second
he should be able to rebound the ball a little better then we have so far
0 FG's for Augustin
Looks like DJ is suffering from whatever Mason was going through earlier. I don't know what to say.
The last play where Chapman missed the pass. I want to see that more (except the receiver is Connor, James, Johnson).
DJ's shot may be off, but he can still rack up the assists, but not if we're going to play him off the ball. I don't like that decision. It takes away some of his abilities like court vision and maybe it's affected his shot.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 9:06 PM CST reply actions
Anybody know...
how many offensive rebounds and second chance points KU got in the first half? I bet it's like fucking half of their total right now.
Block somebody out already...and somebody please knowck Sasha Kahn's ass out.
I swear the fucker is the Eastern Block's answer to Eduardo Najera.

checklist
REBOUND

REBOUND
stop trying to take guys off the dribble
REBOUND

REBOUND
What did I miss?
by anonyMoose on Feb 11, 2008 9:08 PM CST reply actions
I dunno if you caught this
But I think we need to rebound a bit better.
Otherwise, spot on.
by DisplacedTexan on Feb 11, 2008 9:10 PM CST up reply actions
What a play by Mason
one more FT bc of lane violation.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 9:19 PM CST reply actions
Mason bailed out DJ. With foul.
And now we missed some FTs. Lane violation helped.
Second Half
I think DJ needs to take this game over...he's just got to break out of this slump.
Statitically, I just don't see us getting the same production behind the arc.
And where is Mr. Miyagi when we need him to fix Gary Johnson's nose...
Jesus KU is running like fuck
No time to celebrate any basket.
James for three!
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 9:21 PM CST reply actions
Uh, that's four baskets in the first four minutes
for those who might have been counting.
Don't jump, TCB!
The end is occasionally worth it!
I'm ashamed to say it...
but I thought we'd come out flat and they'd keep killing us in the paint and it would be done in 3-4 minutes.
Instead Texas has made up the deficit, is playing them hard and has even pulled down a couple boards.
It's good to be wrong!
If you don't love college hoops...
...watching a game like this, there's something wrong with you. You probably hate puppies, lollipops, and freedom.
I do hate it
when games end like the Gtown/Villanova game. When refs decide who wins.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 9:32 PM CST up reply actions
Yeh, 'cept I don't
I can't stay up for the OT - not to mention I'm going to have to start taking blood pressure meds if it goes to 3 or 4 which it shows every sign of doing
When GJ and DAmion get their legs
DJ gets square with the world, AJ and Mason keep their present pace, this can be a hell of a team.
Texas
is being the aggressor so far in the 2nd half. James controlling the defensive boards, and Mason on the offensive. Love it.
great D
on that last possession. Good to see the Texas defenders get up in the KU players' faces, but without getting overly aggressive and picking up a dumb foul. This is an extremely intense game! Feels like lots on the line.
Hornude. You, sir, are the man...
Thanks for the link to the online viewing. Yahoo Gamechannel just wasn't getting it done.
ANd to think that DJ
still has not made a FG yet. Unreal. Maybe we don't live and die by him anymore. This is good.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 9:34 PM CST reply actions
Oh my God...
We're asking AJ Abrams to guard Brandon Rush. There are mismatches favoring KU all over the court.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 9:35 PM CST reply actions
Kaaaaaahn
How long has that guy been at KU? Does he keep getting new birth certificates from the USSR?
Oh no..
James and Connor both with 3 fouls. Their depth owns us.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 9:41 PM CST reply actions
This would be...
... an excellent time to remember how to shoot FTs
I'm never coming to another game...
Does anybody else thing GJ is sorta like
a Tight End playing Forward. Like the Bizarro Antonio Gates?
Rush/Chalmers to the bench
We need to make a run... NOW!
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 9:47 PM CST reply actions
My God DJ..........
You're putting up shots you've made your whole life. They're not falling today though.
And somehow, this baby is tied up...
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 9:48 PM CST reply actions
If DJ is going to do that, we're gonna have to
crash the boards for the follow up...and give up a little on the transition. It almost puts the Horns in an untenable position. He's gotta dish off.
He's due right?
I mean, we still have DJ in the bag. Once he explodes we're money... right? anyone?
by DisplacedTexan on Feb 11, 2008 9:51 PM CST up reply actions
Even worse on replay
He grabbed his arm and pulled down. That was straight dangerous.
by DisplacedTexan on Feb 11, 2008 9:53 PM CST up reply actions
DJ Needs Jr Year
Wishful thinking - but it would really be beneficial to work on his shooting in a college environment. Much more difficult with the traveling rigors of the NBA. I worry that his size and shooting struggles could drop him to 2nd round.
Key that we don't get passive here
We're up right now, but can't start playing to drain the clock. Attack and play to win.
Guys, no matter what happens
Love the effort. Everyone showed up. We're putting everything on the line. What a physical game this has become.
I just hope we can hang on. MAKE YOUR FT'S.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 9:58 PM CST reply actions

Foul
DJ to line for two with Texas up 66-63 at under-12 timeout. Let's go, DJ - make 'em count.
Biggest FTs of the season?
I say yes. Big difference between 5pt and 3pt lead. 2 minutes against KU at home. These are massive.
by DisplacedTexan on Feb 11, 2008 10:01 PM CST up reply actions
Man if we can hang on....
This would be our THIRD victory against TOP TEN ranked teams.
Think about that.
by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 10:00 PM CST reply actions
We don't have to hang on, we have to take it
Here's to DJ showing us why he's a Naismith candidate down the stretch
It's a long time to go yet
and we could have used both of those FTs
by Texas Sized BS on Feb 11, 2008 10:04 PM CST reply actions
Don't Pull A Clemson - Go For Throat
They had the Heels beat - and let them off the hook. The Horns are for real and have arrived. Put your foot on their throat!
FTs on both sides of the court...
...he missed
agreed!
Feels like we're playing to not lose instead of playing to win - I always hate that.
by Texas Sized BS on Feb 11, 2008 10:09 PM CST up reply actions
I hope it's not DJ shooting
shot clock violation is OK because it prevents transition bucket.
