On To Sunday: Texas Rolls Stanford
No time for analysis right now - just an open thread for celebration, as Texas buries Stanford with a 20 point win in the Sweet 16. Four starters in double figures... and Justin Mason with 9.
And yes, Dexter - you are oh so sexy.
HOOK 'EM!!!

Who's Next!
Tonight was the most complete game I can remember through this season. Great job Horns!
Like PB said, On to Sunday. Memphis is looking really tough right now. They have the back court that can give us fits. But it's reassuring to see how our front court played tonight.

In some translations ...

Did anyone notice we tied in RBs at 42?
Now that's a study in perseverance. Horns had no one in double figure RBs but Damion had 8 and Dex 6.
And all five starters hit treys. Just 7 altogether, but by everyone. Throw in the bench play and this was just a terrific team effort.

Awesome win
But the further we get in the tournament, the more pressing it is to me that we keep going. As in, the more we win, the more I will be disappointed if we don't come out with THE win. But for now, I'm celebrating the destruction. And way to go Davidson, this year's Cinderella team!

Bring on anyone
Seriously, we can match anybody, IMO. This game gave me the most worries out of any other game we might play. After watching the dismantling, though, I'm very confident we can win any game from here on. I hate to jinx us, but damnit, it's hard not to bask after such a solid win.

Memphis 50, Michigan State 20.
Kansas 41, Nova 22.
Both at halftime.
Memphis is just smokin' the Spartans. Hope they use up all their shots.

Not to mention a school record
... with our 31st win.
Have you noticed how no one has mentioned Kevin Durant since this tournament run started?

Great win
Elite 8 was my minimum expectation when the brackets were announced. Now, I just hope we play well the rest of the way and let the cards fall where they may.

What a win!
It would complete the season to knock off the one loss Memphis in the Elite 8. Whatever happens, its been a great year of Texas basketball. I really needed this after such a dissapointing football season.
Give em Hell Texas!

An after game text:
"Fuck Yes!"
That's right, fuck yes. We are so good right now. AJ matters, but he isn't the whole team. We just successfully involved everyone in the offense tonight. And we played really good help/contain/prevent D on the lanky twins. We have so many big men to throw at teams, its sick. DJ busted out of his shooting slump. 'Bout fucking time.
Memphis is a different story, but I think we can take care of business. I can relax until Sunday.
GO HORNS! Go Davidson! It's crazy that we played Davidson in a closed scrimage the second game of the season. I bet they actually took a lot away from that game.

easy on the "faggot" text plz...
as a gay user I take offense. i dont mean to put you on the spot and i apologize for that.
in more important news. damn how did we kill the boards tonight? i know b. lopez had close or up to 30pts tonight but we kept him and kin dead for the most part of the last 10 min.
memphis has got to be scared. runnin scared and film watchin' scared. we are the last 2 seed and we have been dominating (save:last 3 min vs, miami)
my only worry is where stanford had height, memphis has bulk. an entire team of DJs (d. james). watching these bulk players push; its like watching the entire crew of miami club bouncers push little high school rejects around watching them beg their ways in.

He's not returning is he?
I had thought I'd read that he was heading for the NBA after this season, and even his lower-profile twin was getting some consideration.

That's the rumor, but who knows
Some players really do want to get their degree and have a few shots at getting a national title. Money usually wins out, but some players put an education ahead of all that. I hope DJ is one.

3 more wins baby
we looked unstoppable tonight, really. everyone came out swigging and really ready to play. 3 more wins is an attainable goal at this point. memphis is looking scary right now, especially since we dropped to Michigan st early in the year. i didnt get a chance to watch that game, so all i know is that we dropped to em and now memphis is breaking them a new A-hole. but i am really excited and watching the game again right now .

I just hope they can get…
…get that car that was stuck in Reliant out of there! I mean, come on, that's the weakest buzzer I think I've ever heard in a basketball game. It sounds like a '72 VW Bug.

still no credit for defense
In 3 tournament games the horns defense has held the opposition to 28, 40 and 33 percent shooting. They double digit out rebounded AP and Miami and had only 3 less than those pituitary cases at Stanford, in fact they had 1 more block than Stanford did.
All the commentators talk about is the horns offense but it's the work on defense that's been the difference between last year and this one.

Awesome game
We took advantage of a ticket service that was made strictly for Stanford alums living in Texas (My dad is one), and you couldnt imagine how awkward it was for three different people wearing Texas gear to go to the Stanford will-call line and pick up tickets from a member of the Stanford AD. Stanford fans are way cooler than Arkansas fans, and I had a great time yukking it up with them. Lets get on Memphis early, get them frustrated, and bounce out of Reliant with a W!!!

On the Houston local news after the game
They were talking about people waiting outside after the game to buy tickets for Sunday's game from Stanford fans. One particular guy that had no Texas gear on at all, said that the Stanford fan he got tickets from wouldn't sell to anyone that had an affiliation with Texas. He ended up giving them to that guy for free since he wasn't a Texas fan. Funny.
