He's really mastered that fall away J from the baseline.

29-20 Texas. Timeout Nebraska.

by goingforthecorner on Mar 4, 2008 7:12 PM CST reply actions

Really difficult shot

I doubt many people watching appreciate just how tough that shot was.  They need to start running the offense and getting it inside.  They might as well practice running some actual half court plays instead of relying on DJ every trip down the floor.

by RLee49 on Mar 4, 2008 7:15 PM CST up reply actions

Dexy in the game

Another timeout by NU because we've ran off two consecutive fast breaks off steals. First one was a James dunk and then a DJ layup.

Every Big XII team...

has looked discombobulated this year at one point in the season.  From what the commentators are saying, Barnes was really praising Doc today so your program is well on its way to being competitive every game.  The Husker defense looks pretty solid most of the time.

I hate this guy.

by Horn Brain on Mar 4, 2008 7:22 PM CST reply actions

I really like...

...the aggressive D as the half progressed.  I think we are forcing them to take a lot of 3's, which you can tell the Huskers don't like and aren't good at.  Furthermore, we're pressuring the ball more, and it's getting tougher for them to get the ball inside to Maric.

If the horns keep it up, we should be able to win going away.  We need a good solid win to get things rolling again leading into the big 12 tourney.

by junglerules on Mar 4, 2008 7:30 PM CST reply actions

we have

a really young team. Maric is the only senior, and I think these guys struggle at time figuring out if they're going to step up and score or try to let someone else do it.

You saw that indecision in the two three's that were complete bombs, including the one that went off the top of the backboard.

It's gotten better as the season has gone along, but obviously still a problem on the road.

Nebraska 8/9 Seed

Nebraska will probably be an 8 or 9 seed in KC next week.  That means UT has a good chance of seeing these guys again on a neutral court.  While the Horns pulled this one out at home tonight, they've got me scared of the worst possible scenario playing out in KC - a first round loss.  That could drop UT down into a lower 3 seed if they are not careful.

I really hope UT doesn't see NU next Friday.  Then again, UT's next opponent, OSU, will probably end up in the 8 seed and we may not want to see them either, depending on Sunday's game.

I hope after these last two games Barnes does some serious teaching and motivating here.  This ain't gonna cut it in the big dance.  We know and they know they have it in them, but it's the wrong time of year to think they are so good they can turn it on and off at will.  From here on out, they've gotta kick major butt all the time, no more slacking.

by RkyMtnHorn on Mar 4, 2008 8:43 PM CST reply actions

Wouldn't read too much into this one

I saw a Texas team that looks a little tired after a long season, but I noticed that they always seemed to have another gear when it mattered.

Really happy to see them hit those freethrows down the stretch too. That's a must come tourney time.

I think you can put this one in the "not pretty, but we'll take it" category.

Glad to be playing at home this weekend with a chance to tie or win the conf outright.

And did I read that right, we're playing OSU on Sunday? What's up with that? Doesn't bother me too much as we're assured of a first round buy in the Big XII tourney and won't play again until the following Friday, but it seems odd not to have everyone in the conf end on the same day.

Be nobody but yourself in a world that desperately wants you to be like everybody else.
