Friday Four Questions: Oklahoma
1. McCoy or Chiles? Explain.
I'm with Chip Brown here: if there's any chance Colt is dealing with any post-concussion symptoms, he shouldn't play. Does he give us a better chance to beat OU this year? Probably. Does it matter? No.
Even if Colt plays, I hope the coaches use John Chiles much more generously than they have to date. The first thing I said when I watched OU beat Miami was, "The defensive line isn't very good. They can be run on." Obviously, what Chiles lacks in passing he makes up for with his rushing. I'd like to see Texas use Chiles as a weapon in the running game. Even if he's just in there to make the linebackers think a little bit.
2. Bigger concern: Texas' offensive line or secondary?
Without question, the offensive line. Oklahoma's defense isn't quite the juggernaut it's made out to be, but Texas' problems along the line are every bit as real as their harshest critics have claimed. Charlie Tanner and Dallas Griffin cost McCoy a year off his life last Saturday. They've been liabilities all season. I'm not sure how the coaches can't watch the tape from last weekend and shudder in horror.
Solutions? For one thing, we need Ulatoski to stay healthy. He's not been good this year, either, but it at least saves us from swinging Hall out to tackle. I'd rather Hall play mediocre at left guard than Tanner awful at guard. I'd also give Buck Burnette every opportunity to prove he's ready. He can't do much worse than Griffin, anyway.
No easy solutions here, I'm afraid. These guys have to play their best game of the year or it's lights out.
3. A win will cause you to...., while a loss will cause you to....
A win will send me into a hurricane-force eruption of glee. Seriously, the season's headed in such a negative direction that a win Saturday would thrill me endlessly. OU is beatable, but we'll need to play well.
A loss will cause me to start demanding answers to tough questions. We've stuck our toes in the water this week, but a poor showing Saturday will require us to become a lot more critical than most of us are normally comfortable with. Let's hope the coaches were disappointed in themselves last week and treat the fans to a performance we can be proud of. That's not too much to ask.
4. Prediction?
I'm trying, trying, trying to look for silver linings here. And there are some. Oklahoma's reputation is a bit bloated, even after the CU loss. This is a good Sooner team; it's far from a great one. Sam Bradford has done a very nice job working those short and intermediate throws, but it's damn simple stuff. We're still talking about a redshirt freshman here. And, I do think if Texas has a GOOD showing - both in terms of gameplan and execution - we can certainly win the game.
I'm still skeptical. Mostly, I'm frustrated that obvious, critical problems dating back to 2006 have yet to be addressed. It's much easier to be optimistic when those in charge are showing signs that they understand and address weaknesses. Right now, they seem stuck in a rut.
If there's one more silver lining here, though, it's that typically these changes get made after the first loss. Sadly, that loss came last week. On the upside, we can hope that there will be some urgency to make right.
I think Texas will have a better showing than a lot believe, but I worry that the weaknesses are too fundamental to be adequately addressed in a week. I'm begrudgingly picking the Sooners.
Oklahoma 27 Texas 24
Prove me wrong, 'Horns.

Here we go..
- Chiles - the James Brown references have been thrown around this week and I think they are somewhat fitting. This answer would be McCoy if not for his concussion last week. He still has the experience and toughness you need. But walking on the field Chiles adds an unpredictable factor to the offense this week. Sure it could go south quick, but you learn that way.
- O-Line - it doesn't matter how good or bad the secondary is if we can't score points. If that O-line is bad, we may not score much of anything on offense. That being said, refer to # 1 for the possible solution to an ineffective line.
- A win will cause me to retain optimism for a "stepping stone year" to bigger things next year. There is little hope for MNC aspirations this year and I think we're still in for another loss regardless. A loss will cause me to appreciate even more what VY could do with his leadership. He changed the personality of the team. We need it back. A loss makes me want to see the leaders of next year get most of the playing time this year.
- This one has gone from the Horns being a decent favorite in the pre-season to an 11 point dog this week. That's the biggest spread either way in a while. I really don't know what to think this week. Based on what we expect to see from the coaches, I wouldn't bet lunch on the Horns winning. Who but a homer could pick the Horns? Well I'm wearing orange today and Lee Corso is still a penis.

not what I expected
I know that PB is a member of the reality-based community, but I can't quite believe the prediction. I hope he's wrong.
(By way of explanation: painful as 41 - 38 was, I have respect for the Longhorns and their fans - in stark contrast to Oklahoma. I can find respect for a team that beats SC, but one that talks shit and then folds is dead to me for punk-assery. Correspondingly, Oklahoma (and Auburn) can suck it as far as I'm concerned. )

My Thoughts
- Chiles. I would have wanted Chiles to start regardless of McCoy's concussion, but now that he is recovering from that, I don't see how Colt would be effective. I think that passing-wise Chiles might make the same mistakes Colt has been making, but not many more. And the running game would really be improved with him as QB. Imagine the Zone Read actually working...
- It's gotta be the Offensive Line. We already know that our defense isn't going to shut down OU, but just as PB said, they can be run on. The O-Line was the reason for two of Colt's picks last week(one was tipped at the line, the other he got drilled as he threw) and we really need to give the QB some time. If we win this game it will be because of the running game, and that starts with the O-Line.
- A win will hopefully get the ship righted and win us the Big 12, even though like JT I think we will probably lose another game. But a win will really be big for recruiting, and showing our dominance over the state of Texas, and of course the state of Oklahoma. A loss will cause me to break down, and wonder why we can't win with all the talent that this program has.
- I think that this is one of those games that is either going to be very close, or a blowout(and not in our favor.) I will be optimistic and think that it will be very close, but for some reason I have hunches that this could turn out to be one of those 63-10 Quentin Griffin-esque early 00's blowouts...My prediction, OU 30 Texas 24

Thoughts
- Chiles -- Mostly because OU can be run on and the combo of JC/Chiles will hang at least 14 on the Sooners. If Texas can keep from turning over the ball, then they have a small chance.
- Secondary and it isnt' even close. The Texas o-line and OU's D-line are a wash. Hills and Dockery both played well against OU last year and the other guys will probably pick things up. The OU WRs will face a secondary they have a huge advantage on. They are the difference b/w this game being close and a blow-out.
- Get drunk and light something on fire. Get drunk and light something on fire.
- Texas 21 OU 20 Either Colt is Gardere or Chiles is James Brown, but I trust their moxie more than a rattled Bradford. That and I think Charles will have a huge day (150 yards).

Re:
- Agreed. No excuses for risking Colt's long-term health for a game. Colt gives the best chance to win, but if he's not healthy, the coaches shouldn't be playing him.
- Currently, O-line. Longterm, secondary. We're starting 4 seniors in the secondary, so win or lose, this is their last OU game (and season). Picturing an undeveloped secondary next year is downright terrifying. The O-line is taking their lumps this year, but hopefully that development will help in the long-term. Not that it's helped Adam Ulatoski so far.
- Drink half a case of Shiner. Drink a full case of Shiner.
- Instead of picturing OU against Texas, I'm picturing like...LSU against Wisconsin. Obviously not a perfect comparison, but if you look at it objectively, as Team A against Team B, Team A has looked great with one bad half, whereas Team B has looked terrible with six good halves. Ipso facto, Team A rolls, 42-17. But hey, stranger things have happened, and I'll still be pulling hard for the upset, for serious.

- McCoy, assuming no health problems. Chiles is damn fast and he may overtake Colt at some point in their careers, but in this game, I'd prefer someone who has, you know, completed more than 1 pass in college. Call me crazy, but I think the guy who won national freshman of the year last year gives us a better chance to win than the guy who effectively just started playing qb last year. Radical thought, I know -- wanting the 1st string QB to play over the 2nd string.
- Secondary. We have the talent on the O-line. They're just young and learning to play together. We don't have the talent in the secondary. I was calling for Foster's head a few weeks ago....and then I saw Beasley play. Oops. Erick Jackson also sort of sucks. The problem is that, unlike the linebackers, there isn't game-ready talent behind them. The only thing we can do is hope to get pressure on the QB to help out the DB's.
- I'm going to be in Wilmington, NC for the game (why, you ask? i don't know. i'm a moron?) so my celebratory or despondent post-game reactions will likely be very different than they would be if I was going to be somewhere more appropriate. Either way, it will involve alcohol and beautiful north carolina beaches. and hopefully some delightful southern women in bikinis.
- I quietly predicted a loss to K-State last week, though I didn't foresee the shitshow that sprung up in the middle of DKR. This week, I'm going to more publicly predict an OU win. It's not that I think OU is that good. Even if they had beaten Colorado last week, I still probably wouldn't. It's just that, frankly, this team has shown me absolutely nothing thus far that would lead me to believe it could win a big game right now. I don't like to speculate about team chemistry and leadership and all of that. I'm not in the huddle or the clubhouse. I don't know what's going on, nor do I think that I have any answer as to how to fix it. But something's missing from this team. They have a chance to turn it around like they always did from 2000-2004. But those always happened after the OU game. And if such a turnaround happens this year, it will be the same pattern.

- McCoy - barring injury, you don't take the start away from McCoy. The solution to our offensive line woes (and turnovers) is not burying your head in the sand, its giving those guys more help. Line up in a two back set and give McCoy more protection.
Upright McCoy + 3 WRs > 5 WRs + McCoy on his ass
Chiles should be utilized throughout the game, but putting him as the starter gives us no chance to win. He's simply not ready to do anything but run to daylight and that will not get us close to winning saturday.
- Offensive Line - Put it simply, if we can run and pass block we've got the weapons to make a game of it no matter what OU does on offense. If the offense turns the ball over or gives OU the short field it won't matter what the secondary has been doing. This game will be won in the trenches. With Orakpo back I like our d-line. OU's d-line has some injury issues, so if we can get it together we may be able to do enough to stay in it.
- Win = elation. Blowout loss will lead me really question what the coaching staff was thinking and I will expect to see personnel and an OC change this year. However, if the 'horns fight hard and keep this close, I will be very excited about the future prospects of this team.
- I haven't drank the OU cool-aid. For all intents and purposes they have not faced anyone of record this season. They had adversity for a quarter and half last Saturday and did not respond. Keep this game close early and OU (especially Bradford) may get flustered with visions of CU.
Call me a crazy homer, but if we execute the game plan and win the turnover battle we will have an opportunity to win on the last play of the game.

- McCoy. We need the arm to exploit OU DB's, BUT, Chiles should be utilized SMARTLY (ya heard GD?)
- Of equal concern to me. Time for Colt to throw a good pass = stopping their pass.
- win = severe Intoxication, lose = alcohol poisoning

OU SUCKS!!

Here goes...
- McCoy gets the start, and Chiles gets mixed into the game as appropriate. If packages with him work and show promise, continue them. I say McCoy gets the start because I believe he is going through a slump and is actually very good, his performance is more an O-Line factor. I also don't believe the coaches would start him if the injury last week was still lingering. If the O-line cannot protect him against OU then run the ball more and or put in Chiles. But McCoy should get the start and the chance to turn things around, it's the right thing to do.
- Biggest concern is the O-line. If we cannot protect Colt then we will not be able to pass, severly limiting the offense. I believe our D-line and the young linebackers can get enough pressure on Bradford to help the secondary out.
- I don't drink so a win will raise my mood quite a bit... I look forward to Longhorn football to just about the exclusion of any other sport all year long. This team is my focus for September through early January, and the rest of the year is no big deal to me, Longhorn football, college football, and playing golf are really my only sports passions (and admittedly watching VY and the Titans occassionally... he still blows me away, always will). If we lose, well then I will feel quite bad about it and just have to get over it. I would then hope that the coaches and players can adjust to the situation, make the rest of the season respectable and build for next year. I am a diehard and will always be a Longhorn fan, no matter what.
- Ever the optimist Texas 24 OU 17, close game. Texas does have the talent to do this... as I said earlier in the week, will they?

Additionally to my point on number 1, I think an effective McCoy/Chiles package can give defenses big apoplectic fits.

Paging Greg Davis
- Have Chiles throw deep to Limus. The "limited package" for Chiles is too obvious.
- Texas O-line needs to put the OU D-line on their ass if they jump up or put arms up to block a pass.
- satified with a well played game (win or lose).
- Defensive battle with Ryan Baily winning the game in the final seconds - Texas 13, OU 10

there's feeling in the toes
After a week of paralysis of analysis from the automobile head-on collision that was the Kansas State game, there is still feeling in all our extremities, especially Colt McCoy's head.
- McCoy or Chiles? Explain.
Both. Having Chiles in the same backfield as McCoy with McCoy taking the snap has the greatest POTENTIAL for success because it puts one more player with the ability to make plays (run or pass) in the backfield. At least it will cause the defense to react to UT rather than simply attack what it has seen on film the previous 5 games.
- Bigger concern: Texas' offensive line or secondary?
It's easier to mask a weakness in the secondary (zones and safety help) than it is on the OL. Going max protect only helps if you have receivers that can regularly beat double coverage and a NASTY, physical tight end, and that's not UT this year.
- A win will cause you to...., while a loss will cause you to....
A win will cause me to walk around with my jaw hanging open for a day or two. I'll still be grinning at everyone on Wednesday
A loss will cause me to stop reading the sports page for at least a week (although I will be faithful in reading BON).
- Prediction?
This much I know:
a. No way our coverage teams give up more than a 10 yard punt return and a 25 yard kickoff return this week. OU's Reggie Smith will be conservative after muffing a punt last week.
b. Oklahoma's defensive front will not be tougher than K State's.
c. GD will still be calling run plays in the fourth quarter.
d. Colt will throw only one interception, and it won't be a pick six.
e. Chiles will have one running play of more than 15 yards in the first quarter and will throw one option pass (incomplete) in the second.
f. We will run a fake punt for a first down.
g. Charles will have one TD run for more than 20 yards in the second half.
h. Malcolm Kelly or Joaquin Iglesias scores on only one long pass.

About those Predictions.
-I'm really not trying to rain on your parade but, you have some really high hopes for this game. Our special teams has ALWAYS given up big yards on punt and kickoff returns... (Steve Breaston, Ted Ginn, oh and Jordy Nelson)
-Also, Colt throws picks to Arkansas St. (That is when he is NOT suffering from a hidden concussion.) and trust me their secondary is nowhere close to OU's. I'm predicting at least 2 INT's for Colt.
-JC will not have a 20 yard run because he will not run between tackles. He runs sideline to sideline and will not get stopped by an athletic OU defense.
-Have you seen our DB's? Have you seen Malcolm Kelly? They're either lacking experience or incompetent, in some cases... both. I'm predicting Kelly going Mark Clayton on us and catching 3td's. I just don't believe you are being realistic and saying that either him or Iglesias will score on only one long pass.
This is a classic Greg Davis/Mack Brown team. All athletes, no substance. And for 5 years OU beat us by double digits with that same formula. I don't see why that won't be the same this year.

call me an optimist if you want to
I admit, it's a shamelessly optimistic scenario. But I have earlier, much gloomier posts and diaries this year, including one that predicted a victory total of 7 after the Arkie State game, if you need to see my more pessimistic side. IN fact, if we had beaten Kansas State, I would be more pessimistic. I just have this feeling (and no more than that) that UT will surprise.

OU WEEKEND
- Chiles. McCoy played with a concussion last week, let him rest.
- Secondary, with Chiles at QB our O-line is less of an issue.
- Win - Heavy drinking, blame last week on the coaches; Loss - Heavy drinking, move on to Bball
- TEXAS 28 sooners 3, fuckin beat down!!!!!!!!!!
by jimmer on Oct 5, 2007 1:09 PM CDT 0 recs
Even the longest long-shot Louie at Hialeah
wouldn't pin a fin on my fate. But I'm gonna do it anyway.
- McCoy, if and only if he has recovered. Would love to see Chiles involved and to get several series at QB under his belt. Without a doubt, OU will try to knock Colt out of the game. They don't figure he'll run, so they'll blitz him in myriad ways. This will be where we can rack up some long gains if not TDs early. I would like to see Colt immediately throw long to Jamaal (at split end) early; not out of five wide but keeping two in to block, with Limas/Quan over the middle at mid-depth to hold safety and Pittman//Shipley/Finley dragging across short middle. Let Jamaal win a foot race to the ball. Shock 'em. (Although I'd prefer outright electrocution.)
- Ah, that's like bullet A in the brain or bullet B. The hard truth is that the Texas D, all of it, will have the key role in any UT victory. The whole group has to step up. Without pressure on Bradford, we'll be sliced and diced, with this or any other secondary. OU will employ all possible tactics to keep our D-Line away from Bradford; quick openers, sprint and roll outs, delayed handoffs, shovel passes, naked bootlegs (at least one) and screens. Bradford is their greatest vulnerability. It's time for MacDuff and Akina to earn their salary: if the Horns get to Bradford, they probably get the win. (Depending, as always, on special teams.)
- I don't plan on losing. I can be stoic, Zero of Titium version. More cheerleaders.
- Tx 44, OU 42
- Special Note: Stoops has had two years to stew in failure, to be burnt by those tricky, sneaky Boise State usurpers and various other afflictions at the hands of his enemies. (I heard someone even stole the keys to his new car.) I would expect the sneakiest, nastiest, most underhand game plan ever. He wants - and needs - revenge because he's on shaky ground, too.
by whills on Oct 5, 2007 1:13 PM CDT 0 recs
how about...
1.
I'll start with a caveat - the coaches know way more than I do... way, way more. So I hope there's a real plan behind the entire way they're using both Chiles and Colt, but I admit it's completely beyond me.
Way back in those halcyon, undefeated days of mid-September, I commented on a post regarding Chiles: click
Since I came up with 4 scenarios, only one of which didn't entirely scare the crap out of me, and that's the only one that was completely ruled out, I'm bothered, bemused and baffled here. If we'd played Chiles more and earlier, I'd think we'd be far more likely to take our chances with him. The fact that we didn't play him because our early games were 'too tight' does not bode well for us playing him in the OU game, where 'tight' doesn't do it justice. So I'm guessing we play Colt, and pray we don't kill the lad.
And that bothers me about Mack. I know he's not a Stoops, willing to play anyone at all if it helps win now, whether it's the walking wounded or they've just put their buddy in a coma. But I go back to last year's bowl game, where I was shocked that they sent Colt out there so soon after a potentially dangerous (and re-aggravated, to boot!!!) injury, and it gives me pause. To be honest, I would have rather lost with Quan at QB (That was going in, of course; I was quite happy to see Colt getting back into a groove in the second half.).
I think we'll see Colt out there, and I hope he does great. But I'm still not too impressed with the job our staff has done with backup QBs the last few years. With our recruiting (and I know, I know, Perriloux really screwed us...), there's just no real excuse to have true freshmen backups two years running, and no other good options...
2.
Hard to say... Both were question marks coming into the year, and both have been answered in the negative. Decisively. One fallout of a potential loss here might be - well, I'll answer that in its place...
3.
A win would definitely be an attitude booster. Both for the fans and the team, I would imagine. If we can put it together against OU, I would think we'd be in line to possibly win the conference and get to a BCS game. That would be huge. Also hugely unexpected as of early this October... A loss, as I started to allude to earlier, might bring about a revised plan regarding the younger players. On both the line and in the secondary, we have big problems currently, and the future looks very bright indeed. If we lose, I would certainly hope that in a sense Mack starts to play for next year, and that his mindset is freed up a bit. He should play the younger guys and live with the learning curve now rather than next year. He should also start playing way more aggressively, with a sense of abandon and risk-taking we're not used to. He would really have nothing much to lose at that point. Oh, and by the way, I'm not talking about the linebackers here. That one should be beyond argument at this point. There's just no legitimate reason you play any of the older starters over the younger, better guys. Even my caveat that the coaches know more than we do doesn't work in this case... There's no knowing anything that excuses Killebrew, Derry, and Bobino taking the lion's share of snaps.
I don't care if Norton, Muck (and what the heck, based on one half, Kindle too) sleep through practice and kick Mack's dogs during the week, they're that much better on Saturdays.
My head says loss, possibly bad. My heart says the team rallies and we pull one out against OU like we used to in the weeks following our disasters against them...
Ah, what the hell, sometimes you just have let hope triumph: UT- 27 OU- 17
sorry for the long-windedness... but too lazy to edit.

No easy answers to these four
- Chiles, if Colt has not fully recovered, and my guess is that he has not. Both, if Colt is up to it. As others have said, it's our best shot to mess with o.u.
- Tossup, but my gut says secondary. The O line isn't entirely to blame for our problems on offense (only 95%). But I shudder when I think of Malcolm Kelly.
- I grew up with a Sooner big brother and a Sooner big sister. They married Sooners, reproduced Sooners, and their spawn is into the third generation. (Christmas is not pretty.) We win: I gloat. We lose: I ignore emails and phone calls for the next two weeks.
- I am worried about a blowout loss. But I never pick against the Horns. Texas 27, Oklahoma 22
by NYCHorn on Oct 5, 2007 3:32 PM CDT 0 recs
this could get ugly
- Chiles - i have never been a big McCoy fan, and have argued that he can be a good college QB but not great, and we need the chance for greatness especially under GD.
- Secondary. OU may pass for 400 yds and put up 50 points on us.
- Win or loss I am going to the Hawaii game either way and OU will still suck. I just hope it isn't such a beat down that everyone at the tailgate has to let me know what they think about it.
At least out here I don't know any Okies.
- OU 35 - UT 21... I pray it is this close.
Hey PB - how about a viewing schedule for the weekend?

Fearless
Bob Stoops' teams over the years have not bounced back well from losses. Once they're vulnerable, the vultures take over. Bad thing for Texas is that it usually happens in November. Good thing for Texas is that it happened early this year.
Texas hasn't lost 4 straight conference games in 10 years. Hmmm....
Greg Davis runs the statue of liberty and flea flicker ... Mack brown swears they didn't pull it from the Boise State film. OU doesn't get fooled this time, but it's the Southlake kicker that nails it in the end ... OU 33, Texas 31

Humble Answers
- Agree. Chiles if Colt is not 100% though a 100% Colt gives us the better chance to win. If Colt is 100% but starts poorly, pulling him should be an option. Using Chiles regardless should be in the gameplan.
- Secondary. O-line can be mitigated to an extent by using Chiles and schemes but good coaching decisions is another matter (and not a choice for the question). If the secondary has a poor showing, I don't think we'll be able to keep up offensively.
- A win means I'm still hoping for a Big 12 championship and BCS game. A loss means I'm just hoping we finish 10-3 or 11-2 on the year. Big difference obviously.
- Ugh. I have to hope our special teams doesn't play as badly this week. Regardless, I'm taking OU 31-21. Coaching will be the difference if not turnovers or special teams.

I'm sure you'll agree
Most of us have a sick feeling about the game but wouldn't go as far as actually come out and predict a loss. I can't get myself to do it. Born and raised in Austin and having most of my family graduate at Texas has a lot to do with it, I suppose. The point is that, as long as the horns and coaches convince us hard-core mf's that they gave their all and lost, you wouldn't see so much anger on the boards. Yea, I know the point of the game is to win but everyone knows that expectations aren't very high right now. Maybe I'm just becoming a softy but if they give us a hell of a game, no matter what the outcome, let's praise them on Sunday. If they don't play at the level we think they can (and expect), then we should give them shit. Sorry, I'm just a little vulnerable right now..sob...sob.

McCoy or Chiles? Explain.
- I am very surprised that anyone and I mean anyone thinks McCoy should play. If he endures another concussion, there could be significant consequences. Is any game worth that? If I am drunk, would you give me the option to drive? I don't get the whole "if he really is healthy" position. Chiles or Harris (if healthy) would be the only ethical options.
- Coaches - what drives me crazy is that weaknesses and strengths don’t matter. Even if identified, problems aren’t corrected. Conversely, we don't take advantage of our strengths. I think our line is good enough to score points but our secondary is flat out scary when the senior linebackers are on the field.
- A win will complete the development of my ulcer especially if the changes that people have begged for all year are made and we screwed ourselves out of any chance at the MNC. (BTW, what does the "M" stand for, drawing a blank?)
A loss will be the final indication for me that I dreamed 2005 and we are now North Carolina South.
- I will have a heart attack when I see Bobino and Kill take the field. If I do see them, it’s 35-10 OU. Uh oh, just typing that got a sharp pain i n m y l e f t a r

you have great ideas
but saturday will bring many more shake-ups in the
college football universe. We can win even with Greg
Davis and Robert Killebrew. Just pray for 5 OU turnovers.(maybe 6!)
Then the game's MVP Ryan Bailey calmly kicks the 51
yard pants off OU on the final play of the game to
win 37-36. Bob Stoops says it's the worst officiated
game in history as 3 incredible calls go our way.
They are not called Chokelahoma for nothing.

Questions...answers
- I could be mistaken but a QB is allotted 5-8 concussions in a career. If count is correct, Colt is up to 1.5. Coaches go with the doctors. If DR's say o.k., then coaches don't overrule. He starts. Besides, he is the most recent QB with win over OU, right? Plus, we need a vertical threat today to stand any chance at winning and I don't think Chiles delivers that threat. MB/GD will need the whole kitchen sink today so play Chiles and every other able bodied speedster on the team.
- O-line must have biggest game of their careers today for chance at win. Secondary can bend and not break but winning cannot happen unless QB is given 3.5 seconds of consistent read time and holes are opened off-tackle.
- a) go to church tomorrow and vow to be a more faithful fan
b) go to church tomorrow
- 31-24 OU.
P.S. - let's pray for a Lake Erie bug attack or some other pestulance.

My point exactly
The game is more important that his health to some. A qb is allotted 5-8 concussions? WOW. A true leader would overrule the doctor to protect his players. People act like Chiles would throw like Garo Yepremian. All he would need to be is an effective passer if we run the way he, Charles, and VM can. But that would take an OC that can design an offense that is flexible enough to make meaningful mid season changes.
Anyone who thinks that Colt is the same since last year's KS game is seeing a different game than I. Last years OU game means nothing. Something is wrong with Colt and people should be more concerned with that than a win. He has not been the same since last year's injury.

Emotion
So much of football is emotion, especially when you have two talented teams. I think if Texas shows up pissed, ready to avenge last week's game, I think they can stop OU offensively and hang at least 21 points on them. Make it UT 21- OU 10. If, (more likely, given Brown's track record in big games, sans VY), they come out flat or overly conservative, it will be somehing aroung OU 48- UT 10. Unfortunately, I can see GD ordering even more short and screen passes to protect McCoy rather than having him to have to scramble or wait for the receivers to get deep. If they lose it will be the fourth consecutive conference loss (going back to last year). Has that ever happened? And if it does happen, I can see them falling apart and losing to Tech, OSU, A&M, and maybe Baylor.
