Texas Upsets #1 UCLA 63-61

Game Recap: The 8th ranked Longhorns picked up their biggest win in regular season school history with a true road win at top-ranked UCLA Sunday night, 63-61. The Longhorns led by 16 in the first half and 12 at the break, but found themselves in a tight game at the end after UCLA used a 16-3 second half run to tighten the game.

Damion James and DJ Augustin each scored 19 points for the Longhorns to pace the win. The victory moves the Longhorns to 7-0 and, in all likelihood, a top five national ranking.

The outcome was: Astounding. Reeling from a mediocre football season, this Longhorn basketball team has absolutely exploded out of the gates to start the '07-'08 season, winning its first seven, including two over Top 10 teams. As nice as the Tennessee win was, this one was far, far more impressive - winning at UCLA is a rare feat. Point in fact: the Texas victory snapped a 25-game home win streak for the Bruins. If you're on the fence about whether to jump on board with this team or not... please, do yourself a favor - join the party.

The Offensive MVP was: Damion James. For the second game in a row, Damion James was Texas' best player on offense, and without him, Texas loses by double digits. After Texas got out to a big lead doing what we've done well all season, the Bruins came out in the second half playing absolutely smothering defense. Augustin's dribble-drives were cut off, Abrams was harassed on the perimeter, and the Bruins took away much of our transition game. Our only answer was weakside rotation of the ball to Damion James, who provided the one thing UCLA couldn't shut down - a pure, high-elevation jump shot. Absolutely sublime performance from Damion James with his mid-range jumpers today, and an emphatic game-winning slam to propel Texas to victory.

The Defensive MVP was: Justin Mason. As much as anyone, Mason was the reason UCLA struggled as much as they did with their outside shooting. The guy is freaking relentless. An awesome player to have.

The Freshman Evaluation tonight was: Critical. The numbers weren't big, but Chappy (12 minutes) and WingMan (15) gave Texas huge minutes off the bench as Texas tried to keep UCLA from doing what it does. Chappy had what was by far his best game of the season, playing great positional defense, boxing out, banging - just doing lots of little things to help the team. Rick Barnes should be enormously proud of and grateful for each.

Dexter Pittman Watch: 2 minutes, 2 points (1-1), 0 rebounds, 0 fouls. Dexatrim didn't play much, but he made a critical inside hoop while he was in there. You gotta love him....

Three Things: (1) Rick Barnes is The Man. Few have been harder on Rick Barnes than Andrew and I, but I was talking to my father tonight, and I noted that one of the things I love about Rick is his evolution over the years. As we've just spent a horribly frustrating fall talking about the "same old problems" plaguing the football team, it's been a great pleasure to watch our basketball coach live and learn over the years. Rick arrived in Austin a solid coach with a good plan for Texas. He's executed that plan, but he's also become a much, much stronger coach over the years in the process. We're lucky to have him.

(2) There is no Bad Connor. It's over. The Good Connor/Bad Connor talk is just gone. The guy has developed into a fabulous role player and gives Texas so many different things that it needs. Credit to him, credit to Todd Wright, credit to Rick Barnes.

(3) A word on AJ Abrams. At halftime, I was grousing to my father on the phone about how limited AJ Abrams seems in games where the opposition plays lock-down perimeter defense, but he made a great point. Watching from the stands at Pauly Pavilion, my Dad said he noticed how Abrams was critical in making a Bruin defender constantly run around the perimeter, thereby keeping at least one Bruin 25 feet from the rim at all times. It's a good point. We're all shocked that UCLA didn't kill us on the glass, and chasing Abrams is at least part of the reason why. Just goes to show that even when we're playing a game in which he's not a critical scoring component, he can play a useful role.

AW's Thoughts

PB covered the official game review, but with a win of that magnitude, here are a few additional thoughts.

Poise. That is about as good as it gets. The Horns dominated the first half but knew a run was coming. UCLA comes out and gets a quick six points to cut the Texas lead in half. Do we blink? No. The Horns didn’t look nervous at all. They played like they deserved to be there: on the floor with the top-ranked team in the country. It all starts with DJ Augustin. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it today and for the rest of the season, DJ is the best point guard in the country and will be the best player on the floor in every regular season game this season. Rick Barnes wouldn’t trade DJ for anyone else in college basketball and neither would I.

Rebounding +6 Are you freaking kidding? I am the first, and not the only one, to eat crow on this one. I didn’t think the Horns had any shot against the bigger, more physical Bruins. If you had told me before the game that Texas would control the glass on both ends, I’d have just laughed. Our three starting guards, an undersized four in Damion James, and Connor Atchley just won the rebounding battle. WOW! UCLA may be taller and more physical but Texas was quicker to the loose balls, did an excellent job blocking out, and simply wanted it more. Fantastic effort!

Quickness If there is a quicker starting five in college basketball, I don’t know about them. The first half was a joke. It wasn’t just Augustin beating his man off the dribble but Damion James and Justin Mason as well. Throw in Connor Atchley’s ability to run the floor and beat his man to the basket and you have a very difficult to defend ball club. What do you do? You can’t step back to take away the drive because AJ Abrams, Connor and DJ can all knock down the three. Texas may lose a few offensive rebounding opportunities by starting three guards but, man, do they put pressure on opposing defenses.

Damion James. Connor is getting lots of BON love. DJ is getting my love and will be getting national attention all season, but the Horns get beat by 15 points without James. 19 points and 10 rebounds. Another double-double for our undersized and underappreciated power forward. Damion must have worked his tail off this summer. He appears to be in much better shape. He is more explosive off the floor with his jumper, has better handles with the dribble, and has really filled the rebounding void left by Durant’s departure. What a beast!

Best. Game. Ever.

When Texas schooled Tennessee, I really enjoyed it. And I thought, "Wow, even if they don't look like this again all season, this was sure a great game."

I wanted to be a True Believer, but I was wary.

Now, I'm not just on the bandwagon like before. I'm the driver.

What A Game! And wow, James and Mason. Just wow. What magic was worked on them over the off-season? Same for Conner.

Can't wait til Gary hits the hardwood. My goodness, is there even more upside to this team?!?!?!

Awesome

I am shocked, but extremely pleased.  This is a HUGE win for the basketball team this year.  It seems as if every single player has improved in the off-season and its paying off.  Great win.  My only concern is that we're peaking too soon.  Every year there's one team who starts scorching hot and gets some big wins but then fades as the season wears on.  I just hope that's not us, and after the way we won tonight I don't think it is.

Congrats to the guys on a fantastic win.  Way to represent the school and the state.

nice recap both of you

Your dad is totally right, even if AJ isn't in the flow of the offense he is constantly drawing attention.  When he did get the ball UCLA was cheating off a Horn down low to take away AJs drive and allow the defender to only play the three ball. AJ made his one three and had that nice layin in the second half. While he is out there, he is getting attention which helps our offense as a whole.  I firmly believe the second they lay off AJ he drops at least two 3s on the opponent.

There is not bad Connor. There has been 8 months for Barnes to get rid of bad Connor. Just like Connor's development, you see it in Damion also.

We just aren't used to the caliber of freshman that we brought in last year. Yeah we lost one, but we retained three of our starters last year each of whom were freshman.  I would think you would see a huge improvement from Fresh to Soph, and we are seeing it now.  Thank you Kelvin Sampson, seriously.

There is no quicker starting five. In the first half we took every UCLA player off the dribble at well.  You have to give Howland credit for the adjustment, but honestly, we just shot really really poorly in the second half. Normally we make 3-4 more of those shots and hold the lead throughout. As the year progresses, hopefully we don't see that drop off in field goals, granted it's gonna happen, but we missed some wide open shots in the second half.

Yeah...rebounding. We just worked harder, wanted it more, and the ball bounced our way. It was also clear that we were focusing on the boards. We knew that is where UCLA would give us the problem, and we focused on blocking out. They didn't get their first offensive rebound til the second half. On most defensive possesions there were 3-4 Horns under the basket rebounding, and then somehow beating the Bruins down the floor at the same time, at least in the first half.

I knew this was going to be much more of a team, but I was terrified about this game. I was thinking Duke MSG blowout for worst case, but I couldn't be happier with how we handled ourselves. Even if we ended up losing this game, we had a lot to be happy about and learn from.

Bigger teams beware, we can rebound and exploit the matchups. And seriously, we had a poor shooting night, you don't want to get us on an average night. Totally convinced we have a complete team. Kansas, are you nervous?

Good points, AJ spreading the floor

plus a never before seen event in the second half, even when a very good team plays good defense and the Horn's shots don't fall they can still grit out the win. That was so encouraging to see.

What a great start

As far as the ranking goes does any team have better record against as high ranked opponents? Not UNC, or Memphis, Kansas beat #22 USC, Georgetown nada, Washington St. zippo, Duke beat #13 Marquette and #20 Wisconsin.

No other top 7 team has even played a top 10 team. Horns have played 2 and beat 2 and realistically based on that performance and not bias you would have to give the Horns a #1 ranking.

Bring on Kansas! And maybe the Basketball team can do to Oklahoma and A&M what the Football boys couldn't.

"same old problems"

Watching tonight, I remembered what I didnt like about last years team.

Last year, we'd go into haltime with a sizable lead only to watch it go up in flames.  Sure enough, it happened again tonight.  Fortunately, we didnt pucker up and watch the other team drain em.

I will be interested to see this team in March.  Will they continue to have their legs in the 2nd halves of games?  Rick used to practice the kids til they puked until he talked to Eddie Reese about "tapering"  (wiggo, you still have your KIN 362 notes?).

Great recaps. I was wondering if anybody has heard any recent news about Gary's availability. Everybody seems to be assuming he'll be available soon, but I haven't heard anything "official" in a while.

Upon further reflection ...

... I think the most exciting thing about this game was: it was NOT the "perfect game."

For a while, I feared Tennessee was a fluke. Every shot seemed to go in. Rebounds bounced the right way. Etc.

But the UCLA game was different. Texas had a long dry spell. They missed a lot of shots that have been going in so far this year. They missed free throws. And while they did rebound much better than I expected, they gave up some on the offensive glass in the second half.

And they still won.

More than the Tenn. blowout, this tells me that this team is very special.

UCLA Upset

Sure is great to have a place to go for UT basketball (especially on nights like this).

Damion James was not only the offensive MVP, he was also the rebounding MVP, and he and Mason are the defensive MVPs.  Damion is the most improved horn but they have all improved.  Especially in the second half, when UCLA figured out how to slow down UT (only 26 points in the 2nd half for UT), Damion was nails.

James was the hero of the game and the best player on the court tonight (when you include rebounding and defense).

What did UCLA do to Augustin in the second half to slow him down so much?  I noticed he had 6 turnovers for the game (he had 4 assists).  The announcer said that UCLA stopped doubling him, which made it more difficult for Augustin to pass to somebody else.  Do you guys agree?

Love only played 24 minutes, why?  When UCLA go him the ball inside, he was effective (11 points and 5 rebounds in 24 minutes).

this was the first time all year that I saw an entire UT game.  I am still trying to figure out the UT half court offense.  The main play seems to be Augustin penetrating and then shooting or dishing.  What are the other mainstay plays of the UT half court offense?  They really seemed to struggle for a lot of the second half on offense.

Have to agree on the props for Mason.  when you include defense and rebounding, he seems better than Abrams to me (especially against a tough opponent) when Abrams is having trouble with his shot.

Have to agree about Wingman and Chapman, both made huge contributions in 27 minutes (which is more minutes than Love played tonight!).  They kept Atchley from fouling out.  Posting up Wingman seems kind of absurd in a big game at this point (just clogs up the middle).  Might make a lot more sense for him to run around setting picks (and rolling to the bucket every now and then).

Great job of rebounding by the horns.  I actually did think that they would improve their rebounding quite a bit simply by blocking out better (by taking more of a match up approach in their zone D).  I am certain that huge credit goes to coach Barnes for that.  I am surprised that they improved so rapidly.

Fouls

Love had 3 fouls and sat for a time.

DJ was looking for AJ alot who spent the whole night running in circles off screens trying to get an open look. Which is a clear sign of how good UCLA is if AJ (the fastest release ever) couldn't get the 1/4 second he needed to put up a 3.

DJ went out in the first half, was that a new sub pattern? Surprisingly there was not a great drop off in play. Same when Chapman subed for Atchley

Love

Love was a tired puppy. He did not appear to be in shape for the sustained running game, which may be a reason UCLA spent so much time passing on the outside.

Man, this was awesome

What I'm most amazed about, and was mentioned above, is that the Horns didn't play flawlessly.  They had a stellar first half, withstood the inevitable UCLA comeback, and needed a late mini-rally to win.

But what sticks out to me is that in the second half, Texas was forced to play UCLA-style basketball.  And they did it successfully.  They are best in the run-and-gun stuff, but it's SO relieving to see that Texas can play physical and can get rebounds amongst bigger opponents and can pull out a win in a grind-it-out game.

Abrams to the bench...

Please! I agree that his presence alone can contribute to things like rebounding, but not much IMO. A guard is going to guard him, and guards don't usually rebound a lot. Most of the credit for the +6 in rebounding should go to James and the rest of the big guys.

Meanwhile, Abrams is useless when he's not making his shots! He's still a defensive liability. Let him come off the bench for instant scoring.

For right now, I would go big:

C - Wangmene
PF - Atchley
F - James
G - Mason
PG - Augustin

We'd be MUCH better defensively, and we'd still be decent offensively with James, Mason, and Atchley all possessing much improved offensive games.

And then once Johnson gets here, that should put Abrams on the bench for sure.

I like this big lineup of:

C - Wangmene
PF - Atchley
F - Johnson
F - James
PG - Augustin

Deadly combo of defense, speed, rebounding, size, and athleticism. Not many three point shooters, but we didn't shoot well from three and we still beat UCLA. Abrams/Mason can come off the bench to give us threes instantly.

by goingforthecorner on Dec 3, 2007 4:54 AM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

i disagree

there will be nights when AJ carries this team.  he wasn't sharp with his shot last night, but i think he's added some dimensions to his game since last year, so be careful not to pigeonhole him as a one-dimensional player.  i don't even think he's that much of a defensive liability anymore.  UCLA spent a good deal of defensive capital on AJ, staying mostly in man-to-man to keep somebody locked on him at all times.  without AJ on the floor, those isolation plays aren't there as much.

i also disagree with your lineup with Johnson entering the equation.  i'm fine with sitting AJ in that scenario, but are you really going to put four forwards on the floor when your best asset is a point gaurd that can blaze up and down the court and create oppportunities for other scorers?  Mason's offensive contributions are undervalued, i think (although he's not really been needed) and he plays bigger than his actual size.

by littlevisigoth on Dec 3, 2007 8:44 AM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

On the fence

There are games (like UCLA) where Abrams' running around will be the right fit. PB's father made an excellent point. Like a wide receiver selling his route on a running play or screen, sometimes what's best for the team is a shooting guard who pulls the opposition out away from the basket.

In other games, your big lineup might be the best matchup. I'm just glad that (at least so far) we've got enough talent to go either way. The really good teams are versatile like that.

This win, combined with the win over Tennessee, will make our resume most impressive come March. Our tournament seeding will be greatly enhanced by the work we've put in during the "preseason."

by beast in bama on Dec 3, 2007 11:16 AM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

looking ahead

If AJ is going to have an NBA career, it will be as 'instant offense' coming off the bench. Therefore, it makes a certain amount of sense to use him that way now. It would also be possible to time his injection into the game to take advantage of the opponent's substitution scheme or to disrupt their defense.

Mason, on the other hand, is a key defender and a player who gets points without needing plays set up for him. If DJ is ever to get a rest, then Mason needs to be in the flow of the game.

by Caradoc on Dec 3, 2007 11:20 AM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Abrams

There is absolutely no way under any circumstance Abrams plays in the pros. Maybe, MAYBE if he could shoot off the dribble. As is, the NBA has no use for a 5'10" Abrams who can do nothing other than shoot off the pass. Some may ask, 'but what about guys like Steve Kerr?' Kerr was much, much bigger and stronger than people give him credit for first of all, and secondly he was in a different class as a shooter than Abrams.

by Blitzburgh on Dec 3, 2007 11:33 AM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

awesome win last night

honestly, there was a glimpse of KD in James' ability to rise up and shoot that mid range jumper.  i'm impressed with how far he's come as a scoring threat.  no doubt he carried us through stretches of that 2nd half where UCLA had made all the right adjustments defensively.

i was also impressed by how well Rick had these kids prepared for this game.  Howland lived up to his reputation of making halftime adjustments, but Barnes lived up to his reputation of doing his best coaching at the practices leading up to the game.  His team was prepared to beat the bigger, more physical Bruins, and do it with their superior quickness and tenacity and even though they blew their big 1st half lead, he was still able to exploit what UCLA was giving him and come out with the W.

i think this is just the beginning for this team though.  they still look like they're working on some things, trying to incorporate some more low post offense, trying to figure out how to get Dex and the frosh involved more.  i think DJ and James are only going to get better.  honestly, my impression of the ceiling for this team just shot right up to the final four.  they look like they could play with anybody in the country right now.

it's great to be excited about the Longhorns again.

by littlevisigoth on Dec 3, 2007 8:58 AM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Lots of likely improvements

As you say, this team has a high ceiling.  They can improve on their half court offense a bunch.  given that they have a brilliant point guard running the show, that is up to Barnes to strategize.  Would love to see a two man game with James picking and rolling for Augustin (and the other 3 guys at the 3 point line ready to drill a 3 pointer if their man tries to help out).

They can bring the young big men along as fast as possible.  The potential of those guys is enormous.  All three (wingman, Pittman, and Chapman) are pretty exciting young players who have to be utilized in very different ways (i.e. quite a challenge for Barnes).

Mason needs to be developed as a point guard to relieve the pressure on Augustin.

The last improvement is the most intriguing to me: what happens to this team when Gary Johnson starts playing?  Can this kid possibly live up to the hype?

Thank you Kelvin!

BON should send a big thank you to Kelvin Sampson for taking his cheatin', whinin', land-thievin' butt to Indiana!   Without that we don't get Damion James and lose that game last night.  Also, as they mentioned in the game, how scary is ousucks with Damion James and Scotty Reynolds??  Don't have to worry.

Two thoughts

1 - Barnes is the man.  Look at it this way, since he's been here, we've lost some games that perhaps we should have and some people have complained about his strategy and ability.  But I know this - his teams play hard.  Anybody remember any games in the Barnes era remotely resembling the dispassionate, listless efforts that the football team puts forth occasionally?

2 - Barnes is the man, part 2.  One of the things that I think Barnes is best at is developing marginal (for a big time program), flawed players into very solid role-players.  Royal Ivey, Klotz, etc and now Conner.  Barnes is just great at identifying "average" players with potential and getting them to blossom.  It is these players

by SaintBevo on Dec 3, 2007 9:30 AM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

answer to #1

yes, i do remember such a game.  a 40-point (or thereabouts) drubbing in MSG at the hands of #1 duke while we were ranked around #2 or so.  but i guess we could blame the black jerseys instead of barnes.  either way, it was listless and dispassionate.

but I agree with you that Barnes is phenomenal and exactly what Texas needs in a basketball coach right now.

thoughts

Enjoy DJ Augustin while you can guys. He's got about 25 games left as a Longhorn.

I asked AW why Connor was getting so much attention on BON a week or so ago. I argued it was unlikely Connor would really do more than in years past. Looks like I'm wrong about that one, and that's a good thing.

This team will only reach its big goals if Damien James is an integral part of our offensive sets in the half court. Other than Augustin, nobody can get their own shot off the dribble or get to the line with any sort of regularity. James is a 1st Round NBA pick, and we'd be foolish not to make him second in command on offense rather than AJ Abrams.

If we do fixate on getting Abrams his shots, we'll lose some games we shouldn't. I'm fine with him gunning in transition.

Yes, the rebounding was impressive last night, but the Horns will lose a couple of conference games on the road this year because of rebounding. Connor was solid, but he's still got to do a better job holding onto the rock on the defensive backboard. He misses too many opportunities in traffic. Last night his buddies were there to help out. Might not always be that way down the road.

Chapman will turn out to be the best of the tall, white, big guys that Barnes has brought to Austin. Same tough nose for the ball as Boddicker, better strength and conditioning than Connor, and better quickness and skill set than the lumbering Klotz.

Augustin draft prospects

Do you happen to have a link to a projected NBA draft for this year?  I am wondering where Augustin is projected to be drafted.

Seems obvious that the horns should be doing a lot of 2 man game with Augustin and James (ala Stockton and the mailman).  The other 3 guys can hang out outside for the easy shot (if their man helps out on the two man game).

by Kafka on Dec 3, 2007 12:10 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

no link

I'd say he's at least a top-15 prospect, perhaps even higher. Take a look at these three guys who were taken in the top 11 last year:

#4 - Mike Conley Jr.
#7 - Corey Brewer
#11 - Acie Law

Corey Brewer has better size and defensive skills for the NBA game than Augustin, but really, Conley and Brewer's offensive games aren't as good as Augustin's. Acie Law? Meh. Last year's draft alone makes me think Augustin's a top 10 guy next April.

Re:

Augustin is currently tanked 20th on Chad Ford's big board. I suspect he'll play his way higher by the end of the year.

His only problem is that he's barely pushing 6 feet. Other than that, I don't see why he wouldn't be a surefire lottery pick.

Augustin

All I have to say is "wow".  He single-handedly disrupted the UCLA defensive strategy and always seemed to make the right decision.  He's super quick, has excellent touch, and stepped up in crunch time.  That was my first time watching him for 40 minutes and I came away impressed.  I don't know if he has played that way all his career or if he was showcasing himself for all the NBA scouts, but he played like an All-American last night.  This year's point guard crop is rife with talent: Derrick Rose, Eric Gordon, Ty Lawson, Sherron Collins, Drew Neitzel, and Darren Collison (when he's at full-strength).  Right now I'd rank him just behind Rose and Gordon based on raw NBA potential even though Augustin is a more polished point guard at the moment.

by ishXdavid on Dec 3, 2007 1:52 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

PGs

Haven't seen Rose, Gordon, or Lawson, but there's no comparison between him and Neitzel and Collison. Sorry Darren, you can't shoot well enough and Drew Neitzel is going to have a nearly impossible time penetrating in the NBA. Not sure what I think about Sherron Collins. I think he'll score a bunch in the NBA, but I'm not sure you'll ever see him leading a quality offense. I'm thinking more of a Jamal Crawford type gun-slinger on a team like the Knicks, Atlanta, Seattle, etc.

Augustin would be well served working on his passing skills this year, as he's just not going to be able to get off some of the shots he's able to throw up at the next level at just 5'11". This Texas team needs 20 points a game for him though, so not sure he'll have much room for tinkering with his game.

Collison

Having watched Collison the past two years, last night was his worst game ever as a starter.  Not being at full-strength definitely hindered his ability to guard Augustin as it would've been difficult enough if he were healthy.  Collison had no explosion in his step or jump, and Augustin exploited that weakness to the fullest.  It was only Collison's second game this season and he'll bounce back, but he's not ready for the NBA yet.  Augustin's an elite PG by any barometer, but with his size he needs to see the court and make passes like Chris Paul to get ahead of Rose who's got Deron Williams' size and strength package and Gordon who's the best scoring PG in the nation.

Congrats Texas

I'm a lifelong UCLA fan, and I just wanted to come here and congratulate the Longhorns on their impressive victory last night.  Visiting teams rarely come into Pauley Pavilion and beat the Bruins at their own physical game.  The Horns came in, punched UCLA in the mouth and they couldn't recover.  Upsetting a top-ranked UCLA team in Westwood will go a long way in establishing the Texas hoops program as a perennial powerhouse on the national stage.  These kinds of wins mean a lot now, but you'll see how significant this is when you find yourself in a slugfest in March.  As tough as the loss is to swallow, I also think UCLA will become better for it as well.  Hopefully we'll see each other again in the tournament.

Re:

Agreed, win or lose, both teams greatly benefited from this game. As long as you stay competitive and don't get blown out by 30 (the Grant Wahl rule, is it?), you can learn something that'll help your team come tourney time.

UCLA played a hard-fought game and looks like a damn good team as well. Plus I think I speak for everyone here when I say I want them to kick the snot out of USC.

My adopted kid is pure genius at the Black-Scholes Option Pricing Model.

amen to that last point

the tourney loss to USC last year was awefully painful.  throw in that uber-douche Mayo, and the Trojans are a team that i'll be rooting against in every game they play this year, even against Kansas.

speaking of other Big XII/Pac 10 matchups, what is the tally in this "Hardwood Series"?

Think I saw it is 6-5

for the Pac-10. Stupid Aggies can't do anything right.

So take that.
