Colin Cowherd Revisits The Blogosphere

I haven't decided what the proper reaction is to Colin's latest blogosphere transgression, but I'll at least make sure you're aware of what transpired. Today during his show, Cowherd decided it would be funny to blow up a website that didn't have the bandwidth to handle an onslaught of hits from his listeners. That site happened to be a friend of ours, The Big Lead. Colin's attack completely crashed The Big Lead, no doubt to his endless amusement.

Long run Big Lead will get more pub and more readers out of this.
The guy is a dick, but he helped to expand M-zone readers, and the same will happen at the big lead.

Well

I don't necessarily disagree that this won't work out for The Big Lead in the long run.

But the action itself is still completely out of line. Let's say, for example, that Cowherd had decided to do it to BON. And let's say he did it the day before the Final Four and Texas was IN the Final Four. And that my site was down throughout the weekend (Big Lead is STILL down, by the way. These things take time to resolve.) I'd be furious.

Saying "Ha! Let's blow up a blog a day for fun just because they annoy me!" is not okay.

It's almost sadder that all of his mindless minions for listeners decided to actually follow his lead. Who are these people? Can they even find Utah on a map? Oh well, for their sakes, it's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. I'm sure they've seen pictures.

Be Fair

The Brooks Brothers Rebellion was incredibly well organized.

These things always remind me of Straight Talk when Dolly Parton is on the bridge and the producer of her radio show convinces everybody to honk because they love "Dr." Shirlee. Now that's the power of the AM DJ put to good use. And yes, I realize that I've just discussed details of a Dolly Parton movie. I've been to Dollywood too. I'm from Arkansas, we like weird things there.

We've all got some kind of guilty secret in our music or movie files.

Incidentally, the Brooks Brother Rebellion nearly broke several bars on Capitol Hill; they weren't prepared for all those Congressional staffers to decide to "go on vacation" all at once.

Cowterd is by

far my least favorite radio talk show on ESPN or on any network. I'll listen to just about any and all radio talk show, too. But I can't stand 2 nano-seconds of Colin.

He's a more douchy version of Jim Rome, but without a beleivable radio voice. He tries to rip off the Seinfeld daily observation of life type humor and weave that in to sports. The difference being that Seinfeld is hilarious and Cowterd is a douche.
He incorporates that with manufactured anger over some person or issue in sports he wants to ream and rail over, which really just makes him sound even douchier.

I also

think he is, with no exaggeration intended, the worst personality I know of in all of sports.

And I've said this before. I felt this even before the whole M-Zone thing.

He rubs a particular sore spot with me, which is that no person alive exhibits a wider gap between how intelligent he thinks he is, and how intelligent he actually is.
