I was about to say...
"Leinart, act like you've been there." And then I remembered, the guy won an outright BCS title and and two AP championships. He has been there. Why does he need to go selling his soul to EA for some chump change?
I'd expect this kind of thing out of QB's who never got to the promised land, but not Leinart. It's akin to me buying a Miss America 5000 Inflate-O-Mate because I couldn't score a date with the real thing.
I know the only thing he'll win playing for Phoenix is most likely an arbitration case, but have a little respect. You lost. End of story.
And if that LA Times writer wants to talk about lucky moments in LA Sports History, let's start with this wet dream: Leinart running for a 50 yard TD against a Longhorn defense that can walk faster than his best 40 time.

Genius marketing
probably gonna do one of these for every team to get people talking about it enough to go buy. Or upset enough...

Yup
I saw the one where OU stopped Boise State's Statue of Liberty play the other day.

That explains it.
Now I know why Leinart still thinks there the better team, after that hit he took in the second quater this is probably his only "memory" of the game.
by billb on Jul 11, 2007 12:07 PM CDT 0 recs
you have to admit
Besides, you know every USC fan has had that same dream before and replayed that play exactly like that...Leinart's human, and I don't blame him for wishing that play had gone differently. I mean, how is that any different than everyone else who plays NCAA?
I think i'm going to buy a Rose Bowl DVD (or just steal my dad's...damn him for his alma mater beating mine) and find a way to splice that video over the final 8 seconds. Then i'd actually watch it with him!

Leinart is getting to be like Vanilla Ice
WAY too much exposure and campy self promotion (cough, Paris Hilton).

Since we're revising history...
You can go to K-Mart and buy a $10 tierra and a bouquet of roses, but that still doesn't make you Miss America. It makes you pathetic.
by 54b on Jul 11, 2007 12:30 PM CDT 0 recs
Probably
Besides, its a game...its all for fun and entertaining the player. Personally, I am entertained.

Yeah,
I chuckled when I saw it yesterday during NFL live. Besides, Leinart even looks like he's goofing off at the end of the commercial, unlike Adrian "AD" Peterson (why is his nickname All Day? He never lasted All SEASON) who looks all grouchy about getting EMBARRASSEd by Boise

Hey EA...
"I have this great idea for a commercial for your new NCAA 08 football game, I've been dreaming about it for the last 18 months. Hear me out, I know we lost, but wouldnt this be cool?"
by bendj on Jul 11, 2007 1:25 PM CDT 0 recs
Just thinking,
They should do one of these with Troy Smith beating Florida in the National Championship. It would be the world's longest commercial.

On EDSBS...
We're actually on the Big Board for Fulmer Cup points. Our 8 points is good enough for an 8th place tie.
Thank you, Robert Joseph.

Saw it yesterday afternoon...
I guess nobody else has seen the NCAA 08 commercial with some guy named Lee Jennings or something like that? It has the same set up as the usc and ou spots but it's this Jennings guy, who is a Texas fan apparently, talking about how peterson "ruined his team's chance at a perfect season three years ago..." During his speech, they show a bunch of clips of peterson gettings gang tackled by Texas players in the stormtrooper uni's. Either way, it's pretty funny... I looked for it online and couldn't find it but I'm sure yall will see it soon.

While they are at it...
What about a remake of that cheap shot by Kellen last year on Colt? Digital revenge!!!
(And I'll rock my K-Mart tiara and supermarket roses, thankyouverymuch. 54b is a dream killer.)

ONE YARD
TO SHATTER VINCE'S MIRACLE...
i didn't really care for the vid, until matt said that, VINCE'S MIRACEL? ok, how was it a miracle? doesn't he realize that if you have VY on your team, nothing is a "miracle" apparently he doesn't believe that, and he still thinks that "the better team lost"?
WHO WON B*TCH?

Vince played Sam Houston State?
So what team did USC play in the 2005 regular season that made it to a BCS game?

You're kidding, right?
If you're saying USC doesn't have a tough strength of schedule over the last five years... you're alone. They didn't adequately prove themselves in 2005? Hell, if the linebacker hadn't fallen down on Vince things might have turned out differently on that fourth down. Look, Vince was great. But so was Leinart - and to suggest that he's a "pussy" like people on here have done is just plain stupid.
My bad on Sam Houston State. That's just Colt padding his stats, not Vince. And I know, I know, Booty is gonna get get some great padding against Idaho...
by Barko on Jul 12, 2007 11:58 PM CDT 0 recs
Your probably taking this out of context.
I know I don't speak for everyone but I think of Leinart as a pussy not becuse of his schedule when he played (How much control does he have over that anyway? Did Vince tell Deloss to take LSU off the schedule and replace it with ULala? For the Record College Football News declared 2005 Texas as the best season in comparison to strength of schedule EVER) or how he performed, but he has yet to be a man and admit thet USC was not the better team. USC lost and he still refers to it as a "miracle" and say they are "still the better team". Just once I would like to hear him say Texas was the better team, because that is why I thought we played the game, to determine who was better.
by billb on Jul 13, 2007 7:33 AM CDT 0 recs
I thought it was funny...
It also shows
- What a great moment in sports that win was. I mean for a commercial to reference it abstractly is saying "We expect you to know what we are doing a parody of here" and that says a lot about that moment.
- It Leinart making fun of himself a little bit. I like that. I think people take themselves too seriously, especially athletes.
Case in point, this guy Barko who is clearly too sensitive on this issue. Settle down man, it is a funny post.
