Shipley Moves Up in New Rivals100

25

Put down the pitchforks, folks, it's finally happening. After strong performances at the Texas 7-on-7 State Championships and the Gridiron Kings event, Brownwood WR and 2011 Texas commit Jaxon Shipley is finally reaping the national benefits of his hard work. Texas fans have known for some time that Shipley has been severely underrated on the national scene and now that ranking has changed, as Jordan's younger brother moved up more than 120 spots from 183 to 61 in the latest rankings.

Shipley becomes first 2011 commitment

In an absolute shocker (sarcasm), Jaxon Shipley is the first commit of the 2011 class, joining his close friend Case McCoy. The two will eventually comprise McCoy/Shipley v. 3.0 and become the second set of roommates at Texas -- Roommates v 2.0. Good ready to hear about that for the next four years. But hey, that's a good thing. The biggest recruiting weekend of the year begins...It's better than Christmas.

Halliburton: Jaxon Shipley Out With Broken Collarbone

13

Unfortunate luck for Jordan's little brother, the star Brownwood wide receiver poised for a strong junior season. Broken collarbones usually heal within about 12 weeks, putting a tentative return date after the end of the season, meaning he probably wouldn't be ready any time before the playoffs start. It also means he will probably miss the Graham game on October 23 and a chance to face off against the McCoys. Disappointing news for Jaxon and his family, but his injury should heal fully and it should not impact any potential offer from Texas next February. [Update]: I should probably note that 12 weeks is a pretty conservative estimate -- it is a possibility that Shipley could return by mid or late October.
