2011 Winter Park (FL) shooting guard Austin Rivers, who is currently committed to Florida, but has opened up his recruitment, plans on visiting Austin, most likely in late June.
Rivers is also considering Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, and Kentucky, as well as the possibility of sticking with his commitment to the Gators. He has no other visits planned, but Duke is reportedly in good shape for his services.
The Longhorns already have four commitments in the 2011 class, including two guards in Myck Kabongo and Julien Lewis and a wing in Sheldon McClellan, raising questions about how necessary it is to add another guard to the class. The medical redshirt for Varez Ward extends his eligibility as well.
Conventional wisdom has long held that Texas would like to add another big to the class, with Rakeem Christmas the top target, but Rivers may be too good to pass up -- he's ranked no. 6 in the class in the new Rivals rankings. However, the Longhorns are probably a longshot, though the visit could change everything.
