High School Playoffs Update: Week 3

A high school playoff update featuring Texas commits still in action and 2011 targets.

2010 Commits in the Playoffs

A breakdown of the 2010 football commits who will begin play in the playoffs this week. I believe that out of the 20 commits, only John Harris won't be participating, as Naaman Forest lost an elimination game last week. Also, keep an eye on the matchup between Plano West and Cedar Hill -- Jackson Jeffcoat plans on taking his official visit to Austin next weekend, but may not be able to make it if West manages to pull the upset on the undefeated Longhorns. [Update]:Reggie Wilson and the Haltom Buffaloes were eliminated Thursday night by Arlington Martin, 50-6, ending Wilson's high school career. The star defensive end will enroll at Texas for the spring semester. Taylor Bible's Denton Guyer squad beat Saginaw Boswell, 59-28. 2011 quarterback JW Walsh had a 34-yard touchdown run and finished with 12 carries for 115 yards and another rushing touchdown. Lake Travis beat Crocket 58-7 and may face Malcolm Brown's Steele squad if they win this week.

Taylor Bible's gonna be good

Earlier this week I posted a comment asking why all the noise about Taylor Bible. He committed so early that I haven't read much about him. This article shows why GoBR is so excited about this guy. "Taylor's always been a great character kid," Denton Guyer head coach John Walsh said. "I'd be lying if I said he came to us with an incredible work ethic, but that's something he's learned to do. Everything always came easy for him. He was the biggest kid on the football field and basketball court, but he's began playing against other big kids and realized he had to really work. His work ethic now is off the charts."

Morning Coffee Barely Makes the Morning

Morning Coffee has an update on Tristan Thompson and a breakdown of Myck Kabongo's game, as well as Longhorns on the ESPNU 150, thoughts on Tevin Jackson and the latest in Aaron Franklin's recruitment.

Morning Coffee Is All About the Lists

Morning Coffee is all about the lists, breaking down where the 2010 Longhorn commits rank on the first position rankings and taking a look at the latest LSR 100, as well as a brief look at two big men Rick Barnes is targeting for the 2010 class -- Josh Smith and Fab Melo.

Morning Coffee Talks Jake Matthews

Morning Coffee has the latest on Jake Matthews, a 2011 tight end prospect, 2010 defensive tackle commit Taylor Bible, and Florida transfer Jai Lucas.

Morning Coffe Has Your Analysis

Morning Coffee breaks into the film room once again to analyze 2010 Texas commits Ross Apo and Taylor Bible, as well as talk some Longhorn basketball, DJ Augustin in the NBA, and Rashod Favors, once again on the 2010 recruiting radar.

Rivals Updates the LSR 100

Darius White takes over the pole position, followed by Jeffcoat, Seastrunk, Reggie Wilson, and Taylor Bible. Unsurprisingly, a few Longhorn commits shot up: Tevin Jackson moved from 65 to 8, Chris Jones from NR to 12, Bryant Jackson from 50 to 13, Ashton Dorsey from NR to 23, Adrian Phillips from 81 to 24, and Greg Daniels from NR to 37. There's a lot of variance in these rankings, so take them for what you will. I'll let GoBR handle the rest of the heavy lifting.

Morning Coffee Gets List-y

Morning Coffee has some top five lists for the 2010 recruiting class -- both the top five commitments already and the top five commitments Texas needs to secure. In addition, GhostofBigRoy breaks down the recent dismissal of 2010 basketball commit Tristan Thompson from the St. Benedict's basketball team.

I guess the best way to describe it was Texas just feels like my own bed. You know when you spend a lot of time on the road and you just get sick of that hotel bed? Well a lot of schools feel like that bed. It's uncomfortable. But when I'm at Texas, I feel like I'm in my own bed."

-- Longhorn commit Taylor Bible, speaking about the recruiting process. Bible also expressed disappointment that OU coaches didn't answer his phone calls.
