Top 10 Programs$$

I just saw this and thought it was interesting.
http://www.fanblogs.com/ncaa/007263.php Texas is #1 in revenue and #2 in profit. OSU is #2 in revenue, but I wonder what they are doing with all that money, they are making $15 million a year less than us.

Sports Illustrated's Top 10 Uniforms.

Guess Who is number 1? Any way for those of you who haven't seen it. No explanation is given though. I would have liked to seen what criteria they used.

Question

I was over t ESPN and saw a picture of one of the UCLA players (Mata, I think) with two fingers in a "V" pointed down. Is this a slap at USC? is this "Victory Down" or is it some sort og sign I am unfamiliar with (Gang or otherwise).

If it is the victory down sign does it Make UCLA the a&m of the PAC 10?

Article on Durant

From Slate
http://www.slate.com/id/2159498/
Good article on Durant, although I disagree he has no natural spot; to me his natural spot is small forward. At least to the same extent the other guys natural spot is point guard.

Horns down=bad karma

After Iowa "scored" to make the game 20-3 Iowa, Tate gave the "horns down". The play was called back and he threw an interception on the next play. From that point on Texas outscored Iowa 23-10.

Shawn Bell Gave the "horns down" when Baylor went up 7 -0 but they ended up losing 63-31 (I think) two weeks later he hurt his knee and was out for the season.

In 2003 Arkansas Coach Houston Nutt Gave the "horns down" and Arkansas lost 3 of thier next 5 games. The next season The lost to Texas at home and went 5-6.

It seems the "horns down" sign has a pretty decent karmic payback.

Initials

I am bored at work today and got to thinking about Chris Sims Tattoo. When is it acceptable to have another male's initials tattooed on a part of your body? Here is the list I came up with, although the first two were from that thread.

If you each saved each other's lives after fighting off two gigantic killer bears. (from trot)
If one died in a horrible car or plane accident, or was mauled by a rabid ferret. (from GoHorns)
If it is your son.
If it is either a dead relative or a dead "brother" i.e. very close personal friend.
If they donated an organ to save your life.
If you lost a bet (in which case they should probably be on your ass).
If you are someone's prison bitch.
If your wife or girlfriend has a sex change operation. (although this is only a short term solution, you must end this relationship and schedule to have it removed or you fall under the last circumstance).
If the initials are "VY" (although in two years we will probably have to include "JC" and I don't mean the messiah- well at least not that one, but that would probably be OK too).
If you are gay.

He just pulled a Bomar II

"Associated Press

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma guard Terrell Everett will be arraigned April 19 for a misdemeanor marijuana possession citation he received last week.
Everett, 21, was cited for marijuana possession March 11 after security guards called police and reported smelling marijuana coming from an apartment at the University Commons Apartments, according to police records obtained by The Oklahoma Daily newspaper. When police arrived shortly before midnight, Everett handed over a burnt marijuana cigarette and allowed Officer Marcus Savage to enter his apartment, according to the records.

Savage then "observed a portion of a compressed block of marijuana" on top of the television, according to records. Police confiscated the marijuana, but did not take Everett into custody.

A day earlier, Everett led Oklahoma with 14 points in a 69-63 loss to Nebraska in the Big 12 tournament quarterfinals in Dallas. The senior had 21 points and 11 assists to lead the Sooners in an 82-74 upset loss Thursday to Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the first round of the NCAA tournament that would be his final game at Oklahoma.

Playing mostly at point guard instead of his natural wing position, Everett averaged 12.7 points and led the Big 12 with 6.9 assists per game this season. He also committed 116 turnovers, an average of four per game.

Everett and former Oklahoma point guard Drew Lavender were cited for possession of marijuana and public intoxication in April 2005, but charges were later dropped due to a lack of evidence.

Lavender transferred to Xavier in June. "

What should be upsetting is not that these kids are getting caught, but that as is the case with Bomar, they are getting caught TWICE.

Shut Up, Vince.

For those of you you haven't seen this article on ESPN about Vince here is the link.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=whitlock/060309

Needless to say I have a number of problems with this article. First, the title implies Vince is somehow running his mouth, but does not mention it in the entire article. But that is a small complaint.

My real complaint is that Whitlock's idea is that because Young has made poor decisions in hiring an agent he is not willing to prepare for games. He says "The most prestigious and most difficult job in all of sports -- NFL quarterback -- is played at a high level by the men willing to humble themselves and prepare like each Sunday is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity".

If being confident meant a QB would not succeed in the NFL there would be no NFL QBs. Whitlock is flat out wrong, it is not humility, but a desire to be the best and a willingness to do whatever it takes to be the best that makes a great QB. Vince has those qualities in spades, along with talent.

If Whitlock wants to argue Vince is going to slide because of these decisions, fine. But his whole premise is unfounded. If he knew anything about Young (the summer sessions for example) he would know he is more than willing to prepare.

Best perfromances all time

Here is a link to one writer's best performacnes all time in championship play.

http://cbs.sportsline.com/spin/story/9190006

He has Vince ranked #3 but I would move him up to second. Magic who scored 42 with 15 rebounds is second, but really is that better than 200 rushing, 267 passing with a 75% completion percentage? 42 and 15 is pedestrian compared to that. #1 is Don larson's perfect game, can't really argue with that one.
