New Orleans Bowl

The bowl season begins tonight at 7 p.m. (Central) with the New Orleans Bowl in Lafayette, La. The game was moved out of New Orleans because of damage to the Louisiana Superdome during Hurricane Katrina.

The game features Southern Mississippi (6-5) of Conference USA and Arkansas State (6-5), co-champions of the Sun Belt.

I'm not going to break down this game for you because, honestly, I haven't seen either team play this season. But I do have an opinion on this game.

I was at the New Orleans Bowl last season when Southern Mississippi defeated Sun Belt champ North Texas. The game wasn't as close as 31-10 final indicated, and I expect Southern Mississippi to win again with ease tonight.

Still, a bowl is a bowl, and since I love college football I'll probably watch.

Pick: Southern Mississippi 31, Arkansas State 6.
