Kirk Bohls weighs in on Chizik's potential replacement and says current co-defensive coordinator Duane Akina may be the right man for the job. I can't say I'm totally opposed to this, though I think Mack Brown would be wise to take a hard look at who might be willing to come to Texas to fill Chizik's vacancy. Further, given the tide of bad news surrounding this football team right now, I'm not sure that Mack won't want to make a splash with some sort of news-worthy hire anyway. According to Bohls, Brown won't discuss Chizik's vacancy until after the bowl game. We'll see.

Both Ivan Maisel and Mark Schlabach of ESPN.com are projecting Texas to the Cotton Bowl. If that happened, it could be a little bit bittersweet. On the one hand, it'd spare Texas of the Worst Case Scenario (Alamo Bowl). On the other... well, do you want to play Arkansas?

Vince Young, who completed 24 of his 35 pass attempts (249 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT) and rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown, is up for ESPN's Sunday Stud of the Week. Young led the Titans back from a 21-0 fourth quarter deficit to beat the visiting New York Giants 24-21. You can vote for Vince Young by clicking through the above link.

The Horns hit the hardwood tonight at the Erwin Center at 7 p.m. to take on Texas Southern. We'll offer a brief preview of the game later today.
