BCS Standings Release Thread

Time to sit and wait for the BCS Standings to be released this afternoon. Interestingly, Rich Tellshow's projections have Texas at the #4 spot, behind Ohio State, Michigan, and Louisville.

If these are accurate, we can draw a few conclusions.

*First, Texas has no shot without a Louisville loss. The Cardinals are going to Glendale if they win out.

*Second, Auburn could very well be sitting in the best position in the SEC. They'll close out the season against Georgia and Alabama - both of whom are struggling. And unless the Razorbacks drop two games between now and the end of the season, Auburn won't be participating in the SEC title game. Essentially, the Tigers might be in position to just sit and watch the dominoes fall around them. It's rather pitiful, actually, as Auburn's looked positively pedestrian for some time now. As good as the SEC is at the top of the conference, only one team - Florida - looks BCS title game worthy. Arkansas's been solid, but have a lot to prove before I'll include them in that discussion.

*Third, USC's not out of this thing yet. They'll need to stomp Cal and Notre Dame to get back in the mix, but it's certainly still possible. The same's true for California, though they'll need to really impress some human voters to make up ground.

The BCS Standings are officially released this afternoon, around 3:30. We'll discuss more then.

Standings Released 1. Ohio State 2. Michigan 3. Louisville 4. Florida 5. Texas 6. Auburn 7. USC 8. Cal 9. Notre Dame 10. West Virginia
