The Longhorns had their three game winning streak snapped in the 2006 Houston College College Classic at Minute Maid Park on Sunday, falling to Tulane 4-2. After opening the season being swept by San Diego, the Horns rolled off three straight wins before Sundays defeat.
The bats have yet to come alive for the Horns, and pitchers are still getting in to their groove for the season. It's important to remember as the Horns open the season slowly that the team is built on pitching and defense, and the elements are in place for Texas to excel in those areas once again.
The Horns were the victim of the Base on Balls bug on Sunday, issuing eight free passes to Tulane. That's too many baserunners and the Horns paid the price. It's still too early to panic, and the Horns still have many of the dominating pitchers that helped them win the title last year. Again, they'll be fine.
