Stealing a Sooner?

Rick Barnes has -at least- six incoming freshman this fall. With the departure of Lamarcus Aldridge to the NBA and the possible departures of PJ Tucker and Daniel Gibson, the Horns would have room for another prospect. A month ago, it looked like that would be Darrell Arthur, the 6'9" power forward from South Oak Cliff in Dallas. Arthur was down to Kansas and Texas when the spring signing period began on April 12th. With each passing day the chances Arthur will be a Longhorn decrease.

Over the last few weeks, Arthur has gravitated toward LSU. After Tyrus Thomas' declaration for the NBA, there is definitely room for Arthur in Baton Rouge. Scout.com reported that Arthur took an unofficial visit to LSU last weekend. He is quoted as saying, "They're (LSU) pretty much the perfect fit." Perfect. So, first we lose to LSU in the Elite Eight and now lose a head to head recruiting battle with the Tigers. I wonder what sort of deal the alumni put together for Arthur and his family?

Good news always follows bad or at least it should at BON. Kirk Bohls is reporting that OU may let as many of three of their signees out of their letters of intent after the departure of Coach Kelvin Samson to Indiana and the ongoing NCAA investigation for excessive phone calls to recruits. Bohls is not saying that any of the players have asked to be released just that OU would release them if they so desire.

OU recruit Damion James would be a huge steal if he does change his mind. James is a five-star 6'8" 225 lb forward according to Rivals.com. He is ranked as the best player in the state of Texas. Jones was recruited by Texas by chose the Sooners.

We appear to have missed on Arthur. Aldrige is long gone. PJ Tucker is probably gone too. Daniel Gibson's future as a Longhorn is uncertain. Landing James would be tide changing.
