Kirk Bohls of the Austin American Statesman is reporting that Rick Barnes has been given a raise of $400,000. If this is true, Barnes' yearly salary will be around $1.7 million and will put him among the highest paid coaches in the country.
Barnes has been rumored for the coaching vacancy at NC State. Some internet reports have indictated NC State was willing to pay Barnes nearly $2 million per season. Unfortunately for the Wolfpack, it appears Barnes will be staying at Texas and continuing to build a program of national presitge.
Even thougth BON occasionally gripes about our half court execution, we are extremely happy Coach Barnes remains in Austin. Again with our nationally ranked recruiting class and at least Daniel Gibson, Mike Williams, and AJ Abrams returning, the Horns are poised for another successful season in 2006-07.
