World Cupdates

I haven't missed a minute of the Cup yet, but I'm also not going to use this space to get into match details. As much as I'd like to, there are others that do it better, in greater detail, with more match experience to draw on for analysis. My own fandom consists of me watching with great interest, usually rooting for the underdog, and hoping for tight matches. Still, allow me to take this time to direct you to some folks that -are- doing a nice job previewing and reviewing the World Cup matches.

Over in the diary section of SBN's Alabama blog, Roll Bama Roll, Nico offers some terrific Cup material.

If you're a big EDSBS fan (and who isn't?), head over to Kanu's terrific Dodgy At Best, which has been my staple for Cup coverage so far. Along with Kanu's great writing, Orson from EDSBS is guest writing for the month. Terrific stuff. (Also, Kanu is a Georgia blogger. There's something in the water in Athens, I swear. And I'm not complaining.)

One of our regular contributors here at BON offers consistent soccer news at DC Trojan. I wanted to make sure you took a gander at his blog, as he's always offering thoughtful commentary here.

And I'd be remiss not to mention that Brian appears to be in the giving mood - he's offering his thoughts from certain soccer matches. His entry today is not to be missed.

If others know of other great Cup sources, please feel free to share in the comments section.

Also, some exciting site news for tomorrow: Our interview with Rivals.com's Geoff Ketchum, the executive editor of Orangebloods.com, will be posted tomorrow. For those that subscribe to Rivals' Texas coverage, you know the great work Geoff does. The interview will not disappoint.

Update [2006-6-11 0:36:12 by HornsFan]: Because the Cup lasts a good month and I don't want to have to do this every few days, I've added a permanent set of links in the right Link column of the main page, under World Cup Central. As I find more worthy sites, I'll keep adding to it, but it's a good place to start. If any other Blog admins want an HTML copy of the list, email me and I'll be happy to cut and paste for ya.
