Afternoon Tea

Lots and lots of good stuff around today:

No sooner had we wrapped up the Baylor preview with our friends over at BearMeat, when they one-up their solid performance with this masterpiece: the Southwest Conference universities as characters of the movie The Goonies. Very creative; very well done.

Something tells me Rick Bozich had a bad, bad day yesterday. First, loyal BON readers raked him over the coals for his sloppy article. As if that wasn't enough, a few kicks in the ribs from: Brian, Kyle, Jim, Mysterious USC Guy, the original blasphemers, and Jmac, among others.

As Kyle has noted, Burnt Orange Nation is a very reporter-friendly blog, and I've been saying from the beginning that blogging and reporting should co-exist. Just not when one slanders the other. It goes both ways.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who chimed in.

SMQ weighs in on the Sooner offensive gameplan. On the other side of the 'sphere, this will no doubt prevent OU from consideration for the Gang of Four. Heh.

Ketchum and Crew unload their Preseason Top 25 (subscription required). Orangebloods is happy to be critical when needed, so this isn't total homerism. Ketch has some legit concerns, and we'll actually be discussing some of them in his fall preseason chat with BON later this week. Keep an eye out.  The rest of the Top 10 from Orangebloods:

  1. Texas
  2. Auburn
  3. Ohio State
  4. USC
  5. West Virginia
  6. LSU
  7. (tie) Notre Dame
  8. (tie) Florida
  9. Louisville
  10. Florida State
Something I want to look at in close detail this week - among the consensus Top 10 (or so), who's got the most stable offensive line? Who has the most questions to answer? With so many of the top ranked teams fielding close to, but not quite, complete teams, I have a feeling that when it's all said and done, the teams with the most questions at offensive line will be the ones that fall short.
