Hard to believe, but spring football is already coming to a close. The team will workout on Friday and then finish spring drills with a full contact scrimmage on Saturday.
9:00 a.m. Newby and I begin our tailgating. Any BON'ers attending the game are welcome to join us for some cold ones prior to the scrimmage.
10:00 a.m. Spring Jamboree FanFest gets underway outside the southeast corner of the stadium. Festivities will include: "Carnival games, Inflatable SuperSlide, Moonwalk, Bungee Football, Face Painting, Prize Giveaways"
11:00 a.m. Gates to DKR open
11:30 a.m. Special "Letterman Tribute," as Longhorns of past eras will run or walk through an actual play from their time at Texas.
12:00 p.m. Scrimmage begins
Note, of course, that the scrimmage always has a special scoring system. This year's scoring rules:
TD: 6 points
Explosive Plays: 1 point (Run: 12+ yards / Pass: 16+ yards)
3 Consecutive 1st Downs: 1 point
PAT: 1 point
FG: 3 points
TD: 7 points
Turnover (unless TD): 3 points
3 & Out: 1 point
Sack: 2 points
Sudden Change: 4 points (offense starts series inside 35 yd line, but does not score a TD or if offense is held to a FG)
PAT Block: 1 point
**Special Parking Note** From MB-TF: "There is no reserved parking for the Spring Jamboree. As an informational note, the streets surrounding the west, east and south sides of the stadium will be closed until 8:30 a.m. due to a 5K run on the UT campus. Delays on all streets are possible through 10 a.m."
We're not doing anything grandiose this year, but Newbs and I will be out there southeast of the stadium drinking beers prior to the scrimmage. We plan to get started around 9:00 a.m. and hang out in our usual spot until 11:30. If you're planning to attend the game and want to join us for a beer, come on by.
We intend to tailgate where we usually do (see map below), a couple hundred yards southeast of Godzillatron, but the Jamboree FanFest may be in our way. We'll push back further south and east as needed, depending on the set up. If you need my cell phone number, email me.
