Morning Corn Flakes

Saturday was a bittersweet baseball day for the Horns. The good news was that Texas beat Nebraska 5-4 for the third victory over the Huskers this season. The bad news was that Texas A&M's victory over KSU made the Texas win meaningless in terms of the Big XII tournament. Texas A&M will play Baylor in the championship game at 1 PM today. The game is important for both teams as Texas A&M could still conceivably receive a top 8 national seed, and Baylor is playing to secure a spot in the tournament. But the game is also important for fans who like things that are boring.

Right about now you're probably thinking: these guys have little real insight into the actual seeding of the tournamnet to be released Monday. I wonder where they see everybody in the Big XII being seeded? We're glad you asked. We agree with patienthornsfan that Texas will get a top eight seed at either #3 or #4. Texas A&M will likely host a sub-regional but it's difficult to see them getting a top 8 seed. Missouri will also host a sub-regional but not as a top 8 seed. Oklahoma State will probably be a two seed at some Pac-10 or SEC school's regional. Baylor, OU and Nebraska will all likely make the tournament as 3 seeds but it wouldn't be suprising to see OU and/or Baylor not included in the NCAA field. A Baylor win in today's championship game would give them the automatic bid and possibly leave the Land Thieves out in the cold.

All 16 regional sites will be announced today between 2:30 and 3 PM CDT on ESPNews. We'll try to update that news as soon as it comes out. The baseball selection show entitled "Road to Omaha" begins Monday at 11:30 AM on ESPN.
