It was a strange day at the Disch for Texas, with the eyes of Texas not paying attention to the 7-2 victory by the Kansas baseball team. The first indicator of a strange day came in the bottom of the third with Texas trailing 2-0. Michael Torres led off the inning with a single, which was followed up by a bunt pop out by Jordan Danks and then a wild pickoff throw to first during Travis Tucker's plate appearance. The throw was so bad that, instead of bouncing into right field and likely giving Texas a runner at third with one out, it hit the first base umpire preventing Torres from even advancing to second.
Texas pulled even on a Brandon Belt homer in the bottom of the sixth, but would get no closer. Kansas scored 4 runs in the top half of the seventh on 4 walks and 2 singles off Marcus Tackett. Kansas got a pair of bunt singles in the eighth which produced the final score.
I'd post a more thorough review but I'm too annoyed with the basketball ending. Taking the first conference series is good enough, although a sweep would have been nice. UT takes on UTSA and Texas State on Monday and Tuesday before traveling to Lubbock in a Thursday-Friday-Saturday series.
