Dexter Pittman has gotten a lot of attention this season, especially from opposing defenses.

He appreciates the respect from opponents, the attention from coeds, the reflection he sees while standing shirtless in front of a mirror.

But lately the Longhorns' center has encountered a less desirable reaction to his having become a slimmer, more productive basketball player.

Opponents don't assign somebody to guard him, they send a posse.

Colt McCoy's Dear John letter to Longhorn fans.

My time at the University of Texas has been filled with countless memorable experiences, from the 45 wins I was fortunate enough to be a part of to the Big 12 championship this season.

You have been there for me through everything and have shown your unwavering support. You have always believed in me, and for that I will be forever grateful.

UT is being audited.

The UT audit began last week and is focusing on executive compensation practices and income unrelated to the university's educational mission, said Patti Ohlendorf, UT's vice president for legal affairs.

Football coach Mack Brown is UT's highest-paid employee, with a $5.1 million package this year that includes salary, a salary supplement, an expense allowance, a car allowance, radio and TV show pay, athletic product endorsements, performance incentives, a special annual payment and an annual service payment.

The question of unrelated business income can be complicated. In general, tax-exempt organizations must pay taxes on income from activities unrelated to their nonprofit status, but they can also deduct some expenses incurred in the course of those activities. UT has reported unrelated business income activity to the IRS but has not owed taxes on it, Ohlendorf said.

ESPN's Tim Griffin has the Big 12 programs of the decade.

1. Oklahoma: The Sooners earn a slight edge over Texas despite the same number of victories in the decade because Bob Stoops took them to six Big 12 titles. The earlier teams depended more on defense, while Stoops’ more recent squads have been offensive juggernauts to reflect the overall change in the Big 12.

2. Texas: A victory in the BCS title game earlier this month might have catapulted Texas into the top slot. Mack Brown has pushed his program into parity with Oklahoma after struggling with the Sooner dynasty built by Stoops earlier in the decade.

Turner Gill vs. Bo Pelini. The rivalry has begun.

Well, yes and no. Yes, I believe the media and fans will try to make this out to be a rivalry, or at least a contest, every chance we get. But is the new Kansas coach trying to send a message to Lincoln by recruiting Millard South quarterback Bronson Marsh? Not necessarily.

Congratulations to Ruffin McNeill.

East Carolina University chose someone from its past to lead the school into its football future.
A week-long search by the university for a new head football coach ended Thursday with the hiring of 51-year-old ECU alum Ruffin McNeill as the next man to lead the Pirates and the 20th football coach in school history.

Stoops may want to hire OU quarterbacks coach Josh Heupel. But it is Mike Stoops.

What about this as a possibility: Josh Heupel. He, too, has no experience in play-calling, but Oklahoma’s quarterbacks coach, who will be 32 in March, is considered a rising star in the profession.

Why would Tommy Tuberville install a 3-4 defense?
