Magee is as physically gifted as any defensive line prospect in the 2012 class. Against Pleasanton he played middle linebacker in dime packages and he showed quick feet and ran very well. His closing speed and burst to the ball in space is exceptional. He changes directions well. He holds the point well and does a great job of using his hands to create leverage. He's active with his hands and doesn't give linemen a chance to fit up on him. He's got good burst off of the edge. He played at end with his hand on the ground, but because of his size he could be easily as effective playing closer to the football."
Scouting report from Hookem247's Jeff Howe on SA Sam Houston's Javonte Magee, who is looking more and more like a top-10 prospect in the 2012 class. After naming A&M as his leader recently, Magee backed away from that stance, saying that he has no top school, but that the Longhorns are in good position right now because of consistent contact from the staff.
